Bad customer service”
We arrive pretty late at night after a long day of driving from faraway. Nobody came to help with the luggage when we arrive at the hotel driveway as we struggled to bring kids and luggages into the lobby. Manning the lobby are 2 elderly gentlemen who speaks zero English. All the questions I asked, I never get a clear answer or positive action to help me solve my questions and issues. We booked for 2 adults and 1 kid but all toileries only comes with 2 sets in the room. We had to make request for kid's size yukata and forget about the rest because communication is just impossible. They do not provide bottled drinking water in the room. They have very limited wardrobe space to hang up you clothes. The strange thing is when we checked out the next morning is that the lobby staff was totally different from the night before. younger and more attentive staff than the night shift team. The only 2 great stuff was a very good breakfast spread and a great outdoor onsen bath at the 9th flr roof.

Stains on shampoo bottles and shower curtain. Garbage left by guest underneath tray. Lights turned on by itself a few times in the middle of the night!

Nice ryokan hotel experience with very good service”
The staff at this ryokan hotel were very helpful and friendly during our entire stay. The hot spring facilities are very nice and the hotel is within walking distance from several other hot springs in the Kannawa area. Breakfast was not served in a private room as in some more traditional (and usually more expensive) ryokan, but in an open restaurant area with other guests. The breakfast was not bad, but limited in variety.

American Couple Visiting Beppu”
The staff and price for this hotel were wonderful. However, the hotel is not good for English speaking visitors since communication is difficult. We wanted to reserve dinner at the last minute, but no. You can't. We tried to reserve dinner for the following day and were told the price was about 6,300 yen per person, but we were not given a menu for options. If I am paying for a steak dinner or prime rib, 6,300 yen is a great price. However, I do not want to book dinner at that price unless I know what I am going to eat. Having valet parking sounds great, but it is also an inconvenience. I'd rather park my own car and be able to leave in a split second. The worst part is the mattress in the hotel. We slept so uncomfortably for 2 nights. The mattress has no cushion at all. I am sure it's great for Japanese people who love that, but a mattress with cushion is appreciated by Americans. The staff were very kind and sweet, but stay elsewhere if you want a good night's sleep.

Value for money ”
The hotel located close to the eight hot springs and some restaurants. The hot spring in the hotel is good. My package includes dinner and breakfast. Dinner is served in a private room for couples and the food is good. Staff is helpful and provide very good service. Breakfast is partially buffet style. Room is big and staff will come to check if the size of the yukata is fit or not. Tatami is okay. Tea leaves is provided and quality is good. Amenities provide in the room is good. However the shower curtain got a lot of stains and the air conditioner is very dusty which are awful. WiFi is only available in the lobby.

Loved staying here in general. Almost flawless except the maid came in to make our Futon bed without any notice. But overall, really satisfied. So much better than Suginoi if you are considering both the price and the location. The hot spring on the first floor is a bit basic (as in pH scale) which makes your skin smooth, and the one on the sixth floor is a bit acidic which smells like iron in the water a bit. FOOD! MUST EAT! So neat and the waitress kinda reminded me of a typical Japanese mom/grandma if I were a Japanese. So warm and kind and the taste... wow

The name of hotel was in chinese - if there is an english name i might have missed it. Parking by valet so not a problem. Very near tourist sites so it is convenient. There is a supermarket down the road too.

The hotel is a bit old but the services are excellent. We like the dinner and breakfast which was served in a dining room. The only issue is that the aircon in the dining room where we had our meals is quite old, so when we need some cool air, the aircon is not cool enough.

The outdoors baths were a bit tepid and they could use some comfortable furniture just outside the bathing areas to relax while waiting on people but otherwise great place.

6th floor onsen was wonderful, highly recommend. Staff were very helpful , went right up with us to check on room heater.2 Staff waited at front porch with warm greetings when we return after our dinner outside .Will definitely like to stay with them again.
