We spent 3 nights here when we traveled in Kathmandu. The location is convenient enough to reach any place in Thamel in walking distance. The service here was hospitable and attentive. Definitely a stand-out hotel in Thamel.

Excellent! I really loved the vibe of this hotel. I liked that the architecture captured Nepal. The room was lovely, perhaps the lighting could have been a bit better. But overall, would recommend it to everyone!

We had stayed here prior to our trek and it was a wonderfull experience. Clean rooms, helpful staff, location being right in the middle of shopping area and at the same time the peace and quite was just what we needed. Would definetly stay here again.

A bit chilly this time of year but not too bad, especially when the power is on. But that inconvenience is outweighed by the kind staff and exemplary service. On the edge of busy Thamel yet a haven of peace and quiet!

A sanctuary within the busy and bustling Thamel area. The building itself is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the gardens are tranquil. The staff are very helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

          ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED! ”
I traveled to Nepal with my best friend and stayed at Kantipur. I remember we were so happy about taking a nice shower and tucking ourselves in the bed that had an electric blanket. We were also provided with hot water rubber bottles which kept us warm. The hotel's architecture is something we could not get over, so beautiful! Everything was super clean, the staff was AMAZING and if i ever go back to Nepal, I am staying here again!

Having spent over 10 days in sub zero conditions it was a delight to find a hot shower and a thermal blanket. Convenient for shopping and restaurants in Thamel, only 15 mins walk to Durbur Square and 500 rupees taxi to Boudannath Temple. Perfect place to refresh after a long hike.

Tranquil setting with its own courtyard and garden, built in traditional Newari style with stone and wood carvings. very atmospheric in the evenings when the candles are lit and fountain running. We stayed in winter so we were equipped with electric blankets and portable heater in the room. Kudos to the hotel for being eco-friendly, it provides and tops up complimentary mineral and hot water in the room and in the restaurant daily, and reminds guests not to use plastic bags :) Service is 2 thumbs up! Great location as the hotel is tucked away in a quiet street, it's a gem in busy Thamel. Will definitely stay again!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Loved the fact that there was no single use plastic in the room but it would have been nice to have tea/coffee facilities. The room I stayed in didn’t get much sun light during the day and the bulbs were dim so it was quite dark! Great location- away from the hustle and bustle of Thamel but a stones throw from lots of great places to eat and drink.

Beautiful, quiet place in central location”
We have been staying here several times particularly at the end of our visits to Nepal to leave on a high note. It's a great place to stay. However, this time we noticed that the staff has started to become a bit slack and started to stereotype their guests. It feels a bit odd when a waiter is explaining that chai is tea after just having spent three weeks in the country. Just an example. But maybe it is just us who feel funny about this.

Simply fell in love with the hotel. It's very clean and in an excellent location. Staff are nice and friendly. It might be slightly expensive from other hotels, but felt it was worth staying there. Very Nepali temple style architecture, felt home at the little garden in front, where tea and drinks are served. Very cool architecture & decor, all the way from the intricate exterior walls to the cutlery in the rooms & restaurant. The whole place is peaceful & quiet, a refuge from the chaotic margs just outside the hotel. Boyfriend says place starts to look creepy at night. My room was massive & had quite abit of unused space, but floors are still kept clean & squeaky. They don't advocate the use of plastic which probably explains why complimentary bottled water was not provided (although there was a brass pot in the room with mineral water as they claimed). Bathtub was clean & felt amazing to soak into after my long bus ride from Pokhara. Staff were attentive & hospitable, always by the phone. They even brought me an extra pillow at midnight. There's even a shoe cleaning basket in the room, probably used when the chambermaid comes by. Breakfast pancakes deserve a special mention.

Traditional architecture, quiet like a temple, great food and service
For our last night in Nepal we wanted to splash out a bit and Agoda offered a great rate for this hotel. It was a great choice. The place feels like a handicraft and art museum with beautiful rooms and traditional style courtyards. The alleyways that lead to the entrance are run down and dirty, so when you enter through the temple gate you enter a different world with nicely kept gardens and peace and quiet. We enjoyed every moment we stayed there. Not to mention that the food they serve is organic. And for the standard you get everything is still reasonably priced.

Staff are friendly, the gardens are beautiful, and the building itself is designed in an authentic manner.
I stay at Kantipur Temple House every year when I come on business because it is a quiet oasis in busy Thamel. They promote eco-friendly, which is also important to me. Food in restaurant is really tasty and staff were well trained, communication with customer is exceptionally well. the garden at the entrance is a quiet compound for morning yoga or evening drink. The gorgeous building and the elegant garden is definitely very welcoming, and the tasteful interior and spacious room are unforgettable, which soothes tired travellers after a whole day of sight-seeing and souvenir shopping at the chaotic city. No air conditioning but in April with the fan it was fine. This is an eco hotel, so also no elevator or bottles of water, but a comfortable really authentic feeling hotel. They do provide all the filtered water you would like and the tranquility from courtyard facing rooms even with your windows (they do have screens) wide open is amazing for the bee hive that is central Kathmandu.
