Couldn't ask for more. Extremely Value for Money”
my stay in taichung was extended unexpectedly due to an injury. therefore, i had to book a last minute hotel that was decent enough to stay in. when i arrived at kao yuan, i was pleasantly surprised by the amiable service, and the cozy rooms. even though the room was small, it still packed in a lot of convenience with hot water dispensers that didn't require you to wait for hot water, a cabinet that was large enough to contain all my luggage, and a great sized bathtub. room furnishings were well maintained and there was a nice window to let daylight in. on top of that, sheets were crisp and the beds and pillows were comfortable. if laundry is required, there is a laundry shop just down the road, where the nice lady will do your laundry for you at a very reasonable price. there is also a pharmacy and a 7-11 further down that road, and a teppanyaki store that opened til late. not too far away is also a night market that sold all sorts of street food.

kao yuan hotel is well located in taichung, next to a night market and not too far from the train station. (5min bus ride, or 15 minutes walk) The hotel seems fairly old, but is actually really really well maintained and super clean. The staff didn't speak a great english, but check-in and check out were done without an issue and very quickly. The room itself is fairly spacious, with a flat screen TV and english channels. The aircon is not easy to operate, but room temperature was perfect. There is complimentary coffee / tea as well as a kettle in the room. Bathroom is super spacious and even had a jacuzzi in the tub ! Room was made daily, with towels changed, bed made, and even some chocolates given everyday. Honestly, some of the best value a $30/night a hotel can give in the center of the city.

clean, spacious and comfortable hotel”
I moved from a budget hotel to Kao Yuan on my 3rd day in Taichung. Kao Yuan is a bit far away from the railway station; yet it is located at the middle of the 2 major sightseeing places. Bus stops are located at main street which is just one block away from the hotel. The city is charging no bus fare on 1st 8km ride (i guess the taichung gov is subsidizing this?). Getting around the city is quite easy if you can speak chinese. Kao Yuan is running 2 hotels in Taichung. I almost got into the other one as they are quite near. BTW, the receptionist is informative and quite pretty

Classy hotel at affordable prices”
we arrived at taipei on new year's eve and this was amongst the best hotel options we had. spacious and well-furnished suite, very classy corridor with art pieces and elegant decorations. hotel staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. the only minus thing was the location. it's in the middle of zhong shan road so it's not walkable to the mrt. however, there are a lot of buses right outside the hotel going to the metro stations. plus there is free shuttle bus to the mrt every half an hour.

Comfortable Stay”
The hotel is pretty decent although one might be confused to see two Kao Yuan hotels with a small vicinity. Kao Yuan - Jhong Shan Hotel was situated in a quieter lane from the main road with a couple of convenience stores nearby. The train station was a short bus ride away and they also provided free parking for those interested to rent a car. The room was neat and clean, with an attached bathroom consisting of a jacuzzi bath tub. One downside for this hotel is that it does not have twin-sharing room.

We found Kao Yuan - Jhong Shan is a good place to stay, with an extremely nice and efficient staff, but need more training to povided local information,We would recommend this hotel to friends when they visit Taichung, good point are so close to the train station and easy to move around to the country side of Taichung, just next to the night market so you can fill up yourself, The hotel is good value for its price.

firstly, make sure you got the right kao yuan because there are two of them but they are fairly close by. the hotel is good value for money. the staff is earnest and professional. breakfast is pretty sincere and heartwarming. it's not too far from the taichung central train station. anyone hungry for a late night bite can always walk 50m to the night market nearby.

Overall, its a great place to stay. The room is very clean with all the necessary facilities. The breakfast provided by the hotel looks very simple but it was actually very delicious. Cons: you might read reviews that its around 20 mins walking distance to the hotel from Taichung Train station but its actually further than that.Recommendation to travellers who are carrying backpacks to take a cab from the station to the hotel. The cabs run by meters and are not too expensive. The wifi does not work from time to time.

This is one of Taichung’s best kept secrets for a budget but great value business hotel. I should know–I’ve stayed in over a dozen others in this downtown vicinity. Just 10-15 minute walk from the main train/bus stations and night market/shopping districts but if you have a car, they also have free elevator-style parking. The tiny but well-organized and maintained hotel is extremely clean, recently-renovated and well-decorated throughout. You’d never guess from the exterior or old neighborhood surroundings. It’s all these detailed touches that makes the difference. Well-furnished rooms, good sound isolation. The only downside is that there was only one plug available (for a business hotel!) and the bed and pillows were a bit stiff, but I know that’s to suit local preferences. The complimentary breakfast was a plus, But again it’s meant to suit local tastebuds. Like the rest of the hotel, here everything is about quality, not quantity.

Nice accomodation in Taichung”
This hotel provide two star price and give customer six star service. Their thoughful service are very touching. They provide fruits, titbit,drink and good nite regards card for each room. Really feel comfortable to stay . The location are near to bus stop and just walk 2 mins can reach it. Can ride the bus by using Easy card because now transport are free of charge within 8km. The TaiChung's people are very nice and helpful, they own good moral character and let the visitor feel at home. We like Taichung and will come back to stay this hotel again.

Conveniient Location”
This is the first occaision that we have stayed in this hotel. Although we arrived long before check in time helpful receptionist stired our luggage which was put in a room on the floor we requested as soon as ir became able. Both reception staff desk staff and breakfast staff were very helpful at all times. The hotel was very clean and the room proce that we paod was very reasonable for such a conveniently located hotel. We will cetainly be returning on our next trip to Taichung.

Nice room with good Jacuzzi. ”
There are 2 Kao Yuan hotel in the same area, just a street away. The are hot and cold water dispenser above the fridge which very convenience to make hot tea or coffee. There is a Jacuzzi in the bathroom which I found it very nice for relaxing after an exhausted day trip. The hotel is a bit far from yi zhong street.

Very Good, except for one possibly critical matter”
I gave this hotel the highest scores for cleanliness and staff service. I stayed only one night and the room was everything I wanted as far as comfort and location. It's not near the train station, but I had a rental scooter so it wasn't a problem. The room had plenty of clothes storage, a desk and chairs, a mini fridge, and an ample sized bathroom with toiletries. I gave the food a middle rating because I didn't eat at the hotel so I have no idea, but I couldn't skip rating it (this is definitely a flaw in Agoda's rating system). Overall I felt it was a good value. Now to the one point that could be a deal breaker: There was literally only ONE electrical outlet in the entire room for the guest's use. The electrical outlets for the room's lights, TV, fridge, and even the bathroom hair dryer are all locked up and unavailable to use. Even the room's information sheet states "No electrical devices other than razors may be used in the room"(! For a hotel that advertises itself as business hotel, this certainly wouldn't be convenient for business people, who often have a variety of electrical gadgets that need recharging such as laptops, mobile phones, etc. If the above isn't important to you, then I can recommend this hotel.

Good location”
Staff is very friendly. Location is good as well, about 15 mins walk from the train station in Taichung. However, taxi is needed to other well known sights such as the Fengjia night market. Beware that Taichung High Speed Rail station is about 20 minutes away, the nearby train station serves non-HSR services. Hotel will arrange trips to attractions nearby such as Sun Moon Lake.

Terrific Hotel, great deal and wonderful room”
Wasn't sure to expect prior to arrival as based on the pricepoint it was significantly lower than other hotels in Taichung. However was pleasantly suprised with a terrific lobby with great staff (who were great at helping and speaking english as I can't speak Fujian), very classy rooms with no complaints, highly recommended!

Lovely hotel with Jaccuzzi and Spacious Room.”
Definitely value for money. For less than 80sgd, we get a big room with Jaccuzi and the hotel staffs are so cute they send us snack everyday, they are very helpful to tell use where we can get food also. Location wise is not very ideal, but i really like the hotel and i believe i will go back there to stay again. We took a cab for about NT200 to reach Fengjia Night Market. And NT100 to Yi Zhong Nightmarket. The Breakfast is not delicious even thou they provided a range of food.

Big rooms with jacuzzi tubs”
Very satisfied with the hotel as it's very spacious and staff were friendly. It's not very accessible by public transport but we didn't mind as we traveled in a group of 4 and often took cabs. Love the jacuzzi bathtub and breakfast. Will definitely stay in this hotel again if I go to Taichung.
