Nice Hotel. Enjoyed our stay”
Very nice hotel. Spacious & welcoming reception. Big Room with lot of space, Large beds, Big TV & Large Sofa. My Son enjoyed the space as he kept running around. Large wardrobes too. Std size toilets. Cleanliness & cleaning services were good. Reception ppl were helpful & gave all the info we needed about Kyoto on our arrival. Although breakfast was extra pay, it was a good spread, tasty & comparatively quite cheap. Location was excellent. 2 min from Sijo subway stn, 12 min walk from main Kyoto stn. Karasuma / Kawaramachi areas are happening & are at the center of Kyoto. Basically we (couple & 5 yr old son) loved our 3 nights @ this hotel in Dec 2018

Convenient location with nice cozy room ”
You have everything in and around the hotel. in the hotel, you have Starbucks, restaurants and bars that are reasonably affordable. right beside the hotel is subway and bus stop you can easily access to almost everywhere in kyoto. i stayed in a single room, which was definitely bigger than business hotels in tokyo. though the bathroom would be a bit small and you don't expect the view from the window since it's located in kind of kyoto CBD area. it also takes 10 min walk to downtown, kawaramachi area. don't miss visit fresco around the hotel as well, you can buy japanese groceries at a very cheap price.

Great for the low rate!”
altogether, staying at karasuma kyoto hotel was great for the deal i got. i wouldn't pay more though, but it is a nice standard hotel. the rooms are nice and spacious by japanese standards. the hotel staff were so helpful and spoke enough english! i didn't have any problems with communication at all. the technician even went out of his way to find me a transformer when my laptop plug couldn't fit into the electric outlet. the location is probably its best selling point. it's on karasuma street, a major street in central kyoto, so it's easy to get to from kyoto station and easy to get to other areas in kyoto. the bus stop is a block away and the hotel is right beside the subway exit. it's a great place to just come back to at the end of the day and crash. you'd be bored to tears if you just hung around the hotel. the restaurants and bar in the hotel are pretty overpriced, so i didn't bother going. the breakfast buffet is pretty pricey too (950 yen at least), but it wasn't bad at all. i'd recommend you try it... if you don't have major qualms about spending that much on breakfast.

Definitely Worth the Money”
To be frank, I thought budget hotels in Japan is old, expensive and typically room is very small. I was so surprise with this hotel as it feels like a 3 star business class hotel. I think the room is slightly bigger than the other hotels I stayed in Japan for the same price range and the hotel environment itself is clean and business class. It situated right on top of the subway station and about 30m from Exit 4 where you need to take a lift to the station. Although there is no In-Room Wifi but you can use it in the lobby and the speed and quality of the Internet is very good. There is Starbucks, Lawson 24x7 convenient shop and some Japanese restaurants around that open until 3AM in the morning ! The location is excellent and Kyoto station is just 2 stops away and Imperial Palace also 2-3 stops away. I walked both way and took me about 30 min to Imperial Palace and 15 min to Kyoto Station. Overall, I am very happy and it is really value for money and I defintiely will stay there again.

Strategic location, clean hotel”
Strategic location. It is two stations away from Kyoto station, just one minute away from the Shijo station (Karasuma Line). Starbucks is just beside the hotel, convenient for coffee-lovers who need their daily dosage upon waking up. In less than 5 minutes walk, there is a convenient store (Family Mart) and bus stops to majority of the attractions. Besides that, walking towards the main streets takes only approximately 10 minutes. Had a twin room with my cousin sister which is quite spacious for us though the bathroom is slightly small. Nevertheless, the hotel is clean and tidy with friendly staff greeting us whenever we passed by them. Will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends!

What a great location!”
My friends and I enjoyed the Karasuma Kyoto. It was conveniently located: close to Kyoto's excellent public transportation system; close to varied and interesting places to eat and drink; close to stores and cultural attractions. The staff we dealt with were attentive and helpful. The hotel was clean and well-maintained. I would come back again.

Great location ”
Within walking distance to Nishiki Market, Gion and Shopping district. Very close to the subway giving you acces to Karasuma and Hankyu lines. Room & bathroom were a comfortable size for a solo traveller. Stayed for 8 nights during Sakura season, very satisfied and will stay again if I revisit Kyoto

Really nice hotel recommended!!”
The hotel is really nice with everything. The the temperature of air conditioner was right the comfortable temperature and everything were clean. The room was really nice with carpit cover the ground. There is Shijo station right next to the hotel and Starbucks on the 1st floor. There are lots of stores around the area. Also, there is a bus station near the hotel, too. The hotel provided water and clean service everyday which is nice and good. Really recommend this hotel if you would like to travel in Kyoto!

Excellent location and price ”
It's lucky for me to book this hotel at a relatively good price even though during the Sakura season. This hotel has a great location, just next to the subway station and you can easily go to tourist attractions from here. There are Starbucks and McDonald around the hotel so it is convenient to take breakfast. In brief, I'm willing to choose this hotel when my next time to Kyoto.

Very good choice. great location and feel”
So I would have rated this hotel 9/10 if not for the hiccup in service I encountered. location: just great! Right above the subway literally, direct buses to gion and kawaramachi (must visit areas) walkable to nishiki market, and a very enjoyable walk at thAt. The neighbOutdoor is very charming. 10/10 Room: very spacious for the price! Had a sofa area next to the beds. ReallY very recommended. Only gripe is not amazing design and slightly old. However extremely clean. 8.5/10 Service: only problem I encountered, but was extremely offputting. had wanted to make a booking for a Michelin star kaiseki dinner. Tried calling the local line from my room but faced difficulties so I went to the front desk. Was told to only call from my room when I made enquiries at the front desk as 'they couldn't assist' made the call, and was told by the restaurant that they only accepted front desk reservations as we were non Japanese. Went back to them and told them about it, before female staff finally acceded. WhEn realising it was a rated and relatively fancy place, even seemed to scoff and tell us we had to be on time and that it was very important. Wasted about an hour on trying to make this booking between our half baked Japanese and the staffs reluctance to help. 5/10 Apart from that still a nice place, still highly recommended for the hotels merits!

Very good”
Stayed for 2 nights. This was the first time for me to be in Kyoto, the location of this hotel is not difficult to find, just next to a MTR station. The hotel was clean and the room was nice, a bit larger than I expected. I booked a double room, there was a small area with 2 single seats and a café table. I could put my suitcase in this area and just left them opened. Toilet was clean, but no air condition in bathroom at all. This is a disadvantage for Japanese hotel during winter time. However, AC in bedroom was fine. Quite many convenience stores near by, and some restaurants too. The local food market with shops in it, was not far away, just need to walk for 10-15 mins. I enjoyed the time in there for dinner and shopping. And I found quite many company events were held in this hotel during my visit. I think this hotel is famous in that area. I will stay in this holel again during my next time in Kyoto.

Excellent”
Convenient esp just next to subway station, entries and shopping areas just round the corner. Staff helped to arrange medical consulltation at hospital and genuinely concerned. The best front office staff in my whole Japan trip across 6 cities. Spacious room and had all the amenities . I would stay at this hotel when I return to Kyoto.

Great location and good service”
good room, nice and quiet and clean and we found the room quite spacious. staff helped us with a lost bag on the train (found in nagoya) and arranged for express post return of the bag before we left the hotel with no hassles. room service staff were lovely. two train station stops away from kyoto station which really helped with sleeping in and still getting out to the the sightseeing districts outside of town like nara and arashiyama.

Ideal hotel for comfort and convenience”
For a solo traveler not knowing the city, this hotel was the best possible for price and location. I arrived on the train and was able to take a subway from the train station to the hotel after only 2 stops. The exit led me to the sidewalk only a few steps from the hotel door. The room was comfortable, clean, and cool (important since it was summer and the heat outside was intense). The hotel was only a block from the busy shopping district and the market street was only one additional block. This area had scores of restaurants and other eating places as well. I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again.

Strategic Location”
This hotel is near to Shijio Subway Station, but i strongly recommend traveler to use the public bus to reach your destination, 10-15min walking distance to kawaramachi and definitely u can see many interesting shop along the walking distance.

Convenient with helpful staff”
Older hotel property shows some wear, but the location is great. First time having an old-fashioned physical room key instead of a key card. Just a few steps from exit 6 of Shijo subway station and a short walk from the elevator exit 4 of Shijo station. Helpful staff was able to communicate easily in English. 11am check-out time better than 10am at some other hotels. Free bottle of water every day. For a fee of ¥300/bag can have your bags shipped to/from their welcome lounge in the building right next to Kyoto station. Great place to rest peacefully before catching your train or if arriving before check-in. Welcome lounge has free water/tea/coffee/juice and restroom.

Good location near subway station”
As is typical in Japan the room was small but fine for a solo traveller. The subway station is just outside the hotel and is the line that goes to Kyoto Station. The rooms are slightly run-down but acceptable at the price.Nijo Castle is to the north and within walking distance and the Gion district is to the east across the river. A laundry service is available and is excellent quality. All in all I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

Exceptional”
Room was really clean and located well in the center of Kyoto, with easy access to many popular areas. There’s an elevator next to the hotel that leads to Shijo station so it was convenient for people with heavy luggage. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay here.

Busy weekend, still good value”
The single bed to me felt more like a single and a half. Both me and my significant other were able to share the bed with plenty of space available. The price was good despite an incredibly busy weekend (cherry blossoms blooming) as was the room's cleanliness. Would definitely stay here again if/when I revisit Kyoto.
