Ripper on Rottnest!”
Premium Lakeside Room was spacious and comfortable. Quokkas visiting the patio door was a lovely bonus. Breakfast was usual buffet choices and left us full beyond lunch time. Had a lovely quiet night then could hear our neighbours the following night but would stay again.
Lovely Hidden Gem”
Located back from the beach near the salt lakes, this accommodation is simply stunning. We stayed in a ground level lake view room and couldn't have been happier. The view was wonderful, inside the room was modern, clean and well maintained and there were plenty of Quokkas in the evening coming for a visit to make it that little bit more special. Definitely great value for money and would happily stay there again. The only issue I had is that the luggage transfer to the ferry off the island occurs at 12pm and I couldn't access my bags to get my bathers (my fault), an option for forgetful people like me would be a bonus. All in all a wonderful place with wonderful staff.
Dear Lauren, Thank you for your great review and comments. We hope to see you again soon!. Regards, Mark Dalley Front Office Manager
Comfortable and convenient place to stay.”
We stayed for two nights, our room was spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a good system to deal with luggage and they welcome you to stay and use there facilities after check out until your return ferry leaves. Its close to everything.

It's expensive for two people to go to Rottnest by ferry for the weekend, but once there the karma is reasonable for what you get ..charming layout, plenty of facilities, helpful and friendly staff.Very near everything. One downside..There was regular knocking, seemed to be in the ceiling of the room, maybe something loose in the wind in the roof? hard to get to sleep...but reception already closed when I went to report it in the evening.
Scary once you know ths rooms' history”
Living in a old jail isn't a confidable thing, especally when there was a number of dead. However, knowing the history of such room could bring you understand this little island more. You can never be really in love with a place, if you have no idea what she had experience. Luxury isn't the thing you're looking for, but sure you could take a good rest here.
Our room was spacious and clean, although we could hear bathroom noises from the adjoining suite, their having a shower early hours of the morning left us grumpy from broken sleep. Our room was very dark and the view did not match that on their website. The shower was one of the best we have had. The breakfasts were ok. We must have been very close to the pub as the dj music was very disrupting in the evening. We enjoyed our stay, staff were courteous and accommodating but all in all, the resort needs upgrading and some maintenance.
Many small ants in the room including on the bed linen. Both dead and living ants. Got a couple of bites and not much sleep. Room very small (number 4) and basic. Could have been cleaner. 🙁 not good value for money.
Nice stay! ”
We were very surprised with the quality of the room! It’s worth paying more to get the lakeside view because the room was clean, showers were great and the location and view was perfect! The only con is the price is on the higher side and the balcony area was not clean, however a very nice stay overall and would recommend!

The room was very basic. Dusty and full of cobwebs. The beds were comfy. We had enough beds to sleep 5, but only 2 comfy chairs available inside and 2 wooden chairs on the balcony. It's expensive for what it is, a rustic, basic accomodation room. Great location though and a nice buffet breaky. Coffee was terrible!!

We had two nights on Rottnest Island and had the best time. Karma is a great location to everything the down side is they have a pub attached which was quite loud and kept me awake

A little dated but very clean and comfortable ”
Karma is very conveniently located. The rooms are very clean although dated and the tv wasn’t tuned in. The bed was comfortable and the pool area was nice and well maintained.

A tired place”
The resort is suffering from tiredness. I made a mistake by staying there as i could have stayed with friends in a fabulous cottage at a much cheaper rate. At $260 a night , the room was small and paint on the walls was peeling while the walls were disintegrating. The restuarant was excellent and service was always good. Breakfast, however, was mediocre mainly because all of the fruit was of inferior quality. I think the buyer was purchasing on the cheap and pocketing the rest. The fruit was unedible and a disgrace. Outdoor furniture was visually disgraceful too. I will know better next time not to stay there but without competition it may not be possible.
Hi Robert, I appreciate that you still have us 8/10 despite the peeling paint and plaster work. We do our best to keep on top of the maintenance but as our home here on Rottnest is coming up for its 200th birthday it can sometimes be a challenge. We've just had the roof replaced and are always touching up the plaster and paint wherever it needs to be done, did you bring your maintenance concerns to the attention of hotel staff so we could find you another room? Regarding the quality of the fruit, Rottnest is an island and the island and we do not receive daily shipments of fresh produce as you do on the mainland so unfortunately produce here is never going to be quite as shiny and perfect as you might find in your local supermarket. While I appreciate you may have found this disappointing I would say that suggesting staff at our hotel are engaging in unscrupulous or borderline criminal behaviour on a public forum is not appropriate. Your priority at Rottnest is not for the hotel, remember that.”
It's the cheapest hotel in Rottnest Island, either you pay $200 or $500 per night. what more can you ask for? the furniture in the room is smelly, awful or lack of maintenance, our kettle is rusted and broken and we have to request for another one, but yet, the replacement kettle is a functioning rusted piece. You have to remind yourself that your priority staying overnight on the island is to explore the nightlife of the giant rat in Rottnest Island. We met someone random in the pub and he bought me drinks, alright, we are cheapskate. The overnight experience in Rottnest is amazing or worth to experience. I will definitely visit this hotel again (as it's the cheapest upon writing this) for the overnight experience. Breakfast is simple but it's good. The staff is friendly.
Glampacking basic accomodation with daggy bed linen. If the quokkas weren't such cuties I'm sure people wouldn't come here, as its only 2.5 Star accomodation at a 3 Star price. Shawn Denson Launikonis
Love the location and quokkas”
Quokkas love hanging at this hotel. It's also situated right next to the ferry on Rottnest, so super easy to go to and from Perth. Room was basic, but fine. I'd stay 1-2 nights in Rottnest. Lovely to bike around (definitely hire a bike while there!)
Calm at karma”
Rottnest is overpriced for it's accommodation. It was basic for the price. The fan had one speed barely on and the ceiling was so high there was barely a breeze. Rooms are warm at night and you need windows open for any relief. Need screens on the doors so you can have them open. Good sized bathroom and great towels Location is great. Staff friendly
Lovely and historic place to stay. ”
Didn't realise the quad rooms where I stayed were the old prison cells so that was another old gaol to mark off in terms of places I've stayed. Glad I found out it was meant to be haunted -after I checked out! The pool area was really lovely - and a surprise!! Didn't know there was a pool! My only disappointment was my salmon pizza. It has the distinction. Of being the only pizza I have ever had without cheese & tomato base. Sorry but $25 for a dry pizza base with some rocket & smoked salmon on top- does not constitute a pizza to me!
Food at main dining area very good, but Governor's Bar pretty shoddy”
Overall this is a great location, but I've given only three stars because I'm troubled by the lurking memory of the cruel prison that this place used to be. I think it would make a difference if their could be some tribute to the past in a way that doesn't detract from the present. Some outreach to indigenous people could be one way to move forward. There are plenty of well-educated and well-disposed indigenous people around nowadays. Try Dr Noel Nannup, for example.
Enjoyed the restaurant, pool area and location. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Accom was disappointing. Shower was hopeless and room felt like a prison cell which funnily enough it used to be. If you are staying here pay a little more and get a lake view room with a balcony.
