It is built on a hill so be prepared to walk up hills and stairs but it is very manageable. The room was very clean and spacious with everything you need. The bar and pool area was very nice with a great view of the sunset every night during a nice happy hour. The staff in reception, restaurant, and house keeping were extremely accommodating. We booked a boat tour throught the resort and they messaged reminders of transportation times. The free shuttle into town was very convenient. You can message via whatsapp and they will let you know when it is ready. Once you are ready to return just message them a pick up point and they will give you an eta. We didn't have hot water one night and with a quick message to reception someone was there to fix it in just a few minutes. We could not have asked for a better experience and would definitely stay there again no questions asked.

This accommodation is superb; As first timers in El Nido, my husband and I enjoyed our stay here (honeymoon). We booked the Joglo ocean view, and I can say the best thing about it is the outstanding view from the room and terrace itself! If you want a real relaxing place with an amazing ocean and nature view, I recommend booking this hotel. The room is Balinese style complete with a small kitchen; I especially love that they have complete kitchen utensils (stove, ref, heater, pans, plates, glasses etc). They also have a nice shower area in the back, with a bath tub. The only negative there is that since the shower/bathroom is in the back outside area, at night there would be some insects that can disturb the place, but otherwise it is generally good. Just make sure to always close the door to the bathroom. Another plus point is the terrace with its table, 2 loungers and hammock! Truly a place for relaxation. The ocean and forest view is so gorgeous that it is okay for you to just stay in the room and not go out! However, we did go out for tours, and I suggest you check out their rates as well as the rates of the transportation (it might be too expensive for some especially the fare of tuk-tuk to the towns or the rate for beach tour via tuk tuk); but for convenience, you can book the tour with Karuna and there is also a free hotel tricycle going down (since the hotel is steep and at a high point hence the nice view also). You can walk going to and from the hotel from below if you prefer to be active. We also booked the airport transfers with them. Contact them by e-mail or Whatsapp and they will respond easily (another plus). Apart from the place and amenities, the staff are also very accommodating and friendly, as expected also from the locals. Although, since El Nido is a touristy place, expect the restaurant food, souvenirs and even just the ocean bags and snorkeling equipment to be more expensive than usual. We were very happy we selected Karuna. We read in advance through the reviews and we wanted J4 so when we arrived and saw it we knew we had picked the right one for us. We did not mind the stairs and we loved the incredible view day and night. The restaurant food was really enjoyable and reasonably priced. The staff were all friendly. Policies seem a little inflexible at times, as we had to ask several times to be able to have an extra beach towel for our boat outing, and when my wife was stuck working in the room we wanted to take a happy hour drink to our room and this seemed to be against the rules. Thankfully the staff did agree in the end😊. We would highly recommend Karuna as the best location in town for both the view and the solitude. The furnishings in the room were wonderful. Very tastefully and artfully designed to put you at ease and give a relaxing environment. An extremely well designed resort for sure!

We stayed here for four nights of our honeymoon in a Joglo and were so happy with this hotel! Pros: -The rooms are gorgeous! High ceilings, incredible wood-carved bed, very spacious, phenomenal views, large bathroom with hot shower. Perfect! I loved that we could open the massive sliding glass doors all the way so that we could enjoy the incredible view from bed. What a treat! -The infinity pool and restaurant also have the same incredible view. -In-room massages for only about $20 each! My husband and I felt so spoiled to get a couple's massage in our beautiful room by wonderful masseuses. I highly recommend this to anyone who stays here! -They provide free transportation to El Nido Town on a tricycle, which makes getting around El Nido so easy! We never waited more than 10 minutes for them to pick us up. This was a wonderful service. -We checked out at 6 AM, and they made sure we got our breakfast in to-go boxes the night before. It was such a nice touch! Cons: -Although they are on a hill and seem to be removed from town, it wasn't as quite as we expected. You could still hear loud tricycles and motorcycles on the road below. It wasn't loud enough to wake us up, but it was a constant background noise. -The bathroom by the pool and restaurant was consistently dirty and missing toilet paper. The rest of the hotel was always perfectly clean, but this bathroom was gross.

This was my first time in El Nido and I went with Karuna after going through multiple hotels and their reviews. I stayed with my spouse and 6 years old son. The resort seems to be on a small hill and the approach road is half done. The climb from reception to rooms is quite steep, I stayed in Joglo 3. However, the resort has multiple vehicles of different sizes to help their guests in reaching their rooms from town or ferry stand and vice versa. this is free of charge and I never had to wait or the wait was within acceptable limits. The staff was very responsive over whatsapp or intercom. The room is well built, has a small kitchen and the staff was quite cooperative in completing all our requests such as providing utensils, appliances etc for cooking for my son, as he doesn't eat outside food much. the restaurant was near our room, had to climb few stairs. Menu was limited and breakfast was a la carte. However, it was all freshly made and quite delicious. The restaurant staff was very courteous and cooperative as well. Biggest issued I had was a snake that came into my room. Thankfully I saw it and warned my family to climb on the bed. Informed the staff and they promptly came to my room and caught/killed the snake. It seems to have from the balcony, and the balcony door didn't seal completely when closed (it was a sliding french window style). As per the staff and management, the snake came inside the room as the temperature was too high outside and the snakes looks for cooler climates! This left a sour taste and a bad memory in otherwise a great stay. The snake was venomous as well, as confirmed by the staff.There were few geckos as well, propping up on the roof of washroom and one came inside the room as well! I suggested to the management that they should do pest control more often and a venomous snake inside room is just not acceptable. the management was apologetic and said they will take care of it. Would suggest guests with small kids to be more careful while staying here. Overall, other than the snake incident, was a great stay!

We do our best to give our guests a pleasant and memorable stay here in Karuna. We are pleased to inform you that Karuna has twice a month regular pest control. This is mainly for mosquitoes, termites, and other harmful insects. As we are located on a mountain in an island, in rare occasions, some wildlife may be seen in the property. We do our best to contain this and we ask guests to cooperate by keeping doors and windows securely shut and not provoking the animals. As you have mentioned, Karuna Team is always here to assist you.We will further look into your comments, and improve where we can.
