    This 13th-century castle offers unique rooms with original features in a peaceful setting, 25 minutes’ drive from Utrecht. Sterkenburg boasts lush grounds and elegant public spaces with stained glass. Kasteel Sterkenburg has rooms with wooden floors and views over the surrounding countryside. Each of the rooms has a private bathroom and does not have a TV so that guests can relax in this quiet setting. The spacious gardens include a terrace with barbecue facilities. A continental breakfast is served in the former gardener’s house each morning. Breakfast can also be served in-room or on the terrace. The centre of historic Amersfoort is 30 minutes away by car. Sterkenburg Kasteel is a 20-minute drive from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. The historic centre of Amsterdam is 45 minutes by car. Free private on-site parking is available at the castle.

    Absolutely beautiful, the staff made it like home.”

    Excellent breakfast, snacks and drinks available at all time of day-it felt like home. The castle was beautiful and well maintained, walking and biking trails…everything you could ask for. The staff was so attentive and helpful, we would love to go back.

    This castle is absolutely beautiful - as are the grounds surrounding it. The hotel manager is fantastic and made our stay even more special with local recommendations and information about this 800 year old castle. The breakfast is delicious too and includes all local produce.

    The location is special. We slept in the castle. The room was spacious and authentic, yet comfortable. The breakfast was really nice with fresh products from surrounding farms. The bonus was that we were allowed to see the castle after breakfast, and to climb the tower.
    Warm water ran out at the end of the evening.

    Really magical place to stay”

    The castle is absolutely beautiful, a real piece of history and the staff and owner are really wonderful. We stayed for the weekend and felt like we had gone away to another time and place and didn’t want to leave when it was time to go home
    The only thing I can fault as that there is no option for twin beds (as we were two friends not a couple)

    The service and breakfast wat perfect. Nice big rooms with a lot of personality all very different rooms. Nice bed and fantastich view!
    You have to think of bringing enough warm clothes, because a casle isnt warm if its cold outside. But in all the salons they will lit the fireplace so that the cold is turned to cosiness.
