    restful and quiet location”

    location, swimming pool, quiet

nearly everything was great, and this was my third visit in 10 years back to kaw kwang beach resort. however, one very disturbing problem keeps resurfacing upon check-in: the inability to get the type of room/bed configuration which you may have reserved. in this last visit, i reserved three months in advance, and it was important that i get two single beds. when we checked in and went to the room, there was only one large bed. i went back to the lobby, and was told that the room i had seen on the website and had originally reserved was already occupied. i asked them why they went ahead and confirmed my reservation without feedback. they told me that there is no way they can reach a customer (phone/email/through agoda, etc.). i had a hard time believing that. the resort has a policy of "first come, first served," so that if a guest wants to extend their stay, it bumps all later guests to whatever is available. this is the third instance i and/or my colleagues have experienced getting "bumped" to less that what was expected or to downright unacceptable arrangements. my first visit, i arrived with three other people (planned to share two large beds), and they bumped us to one bed. so, three shared a crowded bed (glad they were all good friends), and i slept on the floor. this resort desperately needs to change their reservation/confirmation policy to a more standard one. why do i keep coming back? everything else is so perfect. guess it's worth a night on the floor. caveat emptor!

A place of serene & relaxation”

    Clean, nice location

Staying here is like you are out of the hustle & bustle of the city. The hotel is the very last hotel by the little peninsula, so sort of a lagoon. The emerald water is calm. Lots of Swedish families. It is a good location to bump in and spend the whole day relaxing. We had a beach front chalet; the room is clean. The hot shower is little low in pressure. The restaurant offers cheap and tasty food. We liked the green curry, stir-fried seafood vegetables and the fried rice. Free WIFI is available at the lobby and the restaurant. The chalet has paid WIFI. We recommend to rent a motorcycle to move around. We paid 250 batt The hotel offers free pick-up by the jetty. Just look out for someone who holds a sign that reads Kaw Kwang Beach Resort. We recommend you to take Chao Koh Ferry if you come from Phuket. Service is reliable

A resort for relaxing ( for a few days)”

+: -very nice stuff, everybody is hard working and always smiling -very clean -a nice breakfast - very peaceful, great for relaxing and for families -nice food for reasonable prices -a lovely garden with a LOT OF shadow to hide from the sun ( very positive!), nice trees - great for snorkeling, as there is a coral reef few meters from the beach, many different kinds of fish to been seen - they had a really lovely New Year’s Eve party -: A location of the resort is from the very beginning of Klong Dao beach, which means it is quiet, but quite fareaway from anything ( but the resort provides a free tuk tuk lift to Saladan three times a day) - the beach is nothing special, there is a huge low tide, very little waves, it looks more like a lake than a sea - the bungalows are out dated ( very clean though!), we had a bad smell of mold in our (it disappered after few hours of AC), but quite big - so is the swimming pool, but it is nice A Big thanks to the staff!

    Beautiful bungalows in paradise setting”

This was our last night on koh lanta and wished we'd gone here earlier. So pretty and surrounding views amazing. Beautiful well kept gardens and palm trees everywhere. It's not by restaurants although hotel food is good and decent prices. Get a tuk tuk(50bht each) or shuttle to main street where lots of places to eat. Gorgeous and big infinity pool. Views to die for on a sunny day (we went low season but were lucky there). Rooms were clean and comfy although no tea or coffee provided. Suggest it should be especially as even cheaper hostels we stayed in provided them along with toothbrushes, etc. Beach towels provided too 😁 Staff were extremely helpful and very lovely. Hotel organised shuttle back to mainland Krabi and airport for 300 bhat each. All in all a very enjoyable stay and wish we could've stayed longer. Thank you.

    Great place to relax”

    Relaxing, friendly staff, good food

i stayed at kaw kwang for about a week. it was great, very relaxing and laid-back. the staff was very friendly. i would chat with oak in the restaurant area, and he would give me recommendations for food or things to see in the area. i rented a motorbike and ended up sliding out and getting hurt, and the staff were very helpful with getting cleaned up. the resort is very family-friendly, so there were a lot of families there. the food was cheaper than most of the other resorts in the area, and was really good. after i got hurt, i pretty much stayed at the resort and only ate there, and i enjoyed trying a lot of different dishes.

    swimming pool, massage, relaxed environment

We did enjoy staying at the Kaw Kwang Beach Resort, the only two exceptions where they told us they informed Agoda they had no king sized beds so we there whuffled three times from three different rooms, the first might we had to stay in two double beds, then two nights in another room , one and a half nights in a thrid room. We had a confirmed king-sized bed but when we got there because of Chinese new year, they didn't provide what we ordered. I decised this was not a big issue since we liked staying there. If you can compensate me that would be nice but for sure explain to them when we have a confirmed King Bed, that means they need to supply a King bed.

Koh Lanta overpriced but hotel OK”

My room was good on the 2nd floor of hotel, air con very good, mainly quiet and clean

Everything here in Koh Lanta is overpriced and this Hotel is no exception although it is reasonable for the area. I had a nice room in the hotel on the 2nd floor with no view but some nice trees and plants outside the window. I could hear some noises but it was mainly quiet in the room. I don't know about the bungalows which are in 3 rows. The first row faces the beach. I wouldn't like the 3rd row. I had a dive/hotel package and first booked one night directly before I arrived. The room I got first was better than the package room w/ the dive company. They wanted to move me but I refused and I got to keep my room. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. No hot water. It is a 50 baht ride and 5 minutes to the town, a 20-30 minute walk. This hotel has a really nice beach. The town is small and full of tourists. The restaurants are OK but not cheap and the food is OK but not spectacular. Everywhere you go there are tourists from Northern Europe and Australia. The beach here is quite beautiful It is a good place to relax. The sun is quite strong so be sure and bring sun protection. Scuba diving here is not so excellent. It is OK but with 20 companies selling dives and you are cattle with lots of people at the dive sites. Boat rides are long to sites, up to 2 hours. Phi Phi, although beautiful is way too crowded, noisy and even more expensive than here and you go to the same dive sites. Koh Lanta avoids the city and tourists of Phuket and I'm happy for this choice. Internet is very limited, mainly in the lobby and restaurant but I could sometimes get it in my room. At least it worked. Overall it was a good stay. I met some nice people and am enjoying my stay. The days of getting away from tourists and having a cheap and interesting vacation in unspoiled areas are almost forever gone. I paid about $50 per night for my room with my dive package which was a good deal for this area and less than the internet price.

    Great Experience at Kaw Kwang”

We are three young Canadian girls backpacking around Thailand. This resort was probably the best value for our dollar we've got so far. The resort was very clean, the pool was amazing. We stayed in the basic cheapest room that was still attached to the lobby so the wifi worked in our room which was great! They give you free bottled water every morning which is another added bonus. The food was awesome.... A little bit more expensive (70-200bht) but it was very good and filling. The location is great because your at one end of the beach so there's nothing beside you which keeps the noise down at night and it's only a few minute walk to get to any other resort or restaurant down the beach. The resort was FULL of couples. I'm pretty sure we were the only people there that weren't in couples but we still had a great time relaxing before heading on to the rowdier destinations of our trip. Would highly recommend this resort to anyone.

    Nice Quiet resort”

We really enjoyed our stay at Kaw Kwong even though it's a way out of the main streets. We rented a motorcycle from the resort that helps to get around otherwise it may have to rely on the resort shuttle if they have one. It's a beautiful beach front resort, especially if you dine by the beach. The restaurant and the bar are set up very cozy. We really took advantage of the dinning set up and had a great time. The bungalow is a bit small, the porch has a couple of chair for lounging. Shower was good and it has divider so it does not get the whole washroom wet. The one thing I don't think is the resort policy that maid service tag must be set up otherwise the maid will not clean the room. We forgot one day because none of other hotels we stayed had to, so we did not get any service at all. Breakfast is simple and it's the same every day except the last day we stayed, they had pai thai. It close to the ferry terminal and night market once you are able to get out to the Main Street.

    Location and Staff

We stayed 5 nights at start of March. Location is excellent 5mins in tuk tuk to Saladan town and lots of shops and restaurants. Views are lovely and right on the beach. We had a superior Garden View which was just what you need. Good size and nice terrace. Basic room but everything there and lovely relaxing gardens. Not sure if I would have stayed in the hill bungalows. They looked v basic compared to these and there wasn't a huge price difference but looked like a big comfort difference! Breakfast ok,restaurant food was very good, pool good size, lots of areas for suntanning next to pool but best along the main garden looking onto beach. really lovely here and lovely big palm trees for shade. Staff all work incredibly hard and long shifts and always smiling and playing with all the children which was great as our little girl had chicken pox and was very grumpy so they gave us some great respite when eating our meals. Beach at front was nice but tide went far out due to the bay. Great for kids though. We walked 10 mins down the beach and it was much nicer and had shops and restaurants but was great to retreat back to the quiet beach. Overall this place is great value, brill location and I would definitely go back.

The room was very spacious and comfortable although in need of refurbishment.Tea and coffee facilities in the room would have been beneficial. The breakfasts were quite adequate with plenty of choice.Although the garden area was ideal for sunbathing with plenty of shaded area there was a shortage of sun loungers and mattresses which was a problem when the hotel was full. The location of the hotel is away from the main area of Klong Dao beach but tuk tuks are readily available outside.

    We would come back here!!”

We loved staying here!! The bungalows are a good size with great aircon. There is no safety deposit box in the rooms which is a shame but you can leave some valuables at reception. The pool is lovely and the beach is one of the nicest we've seen in Thailand. Clear blue water and when the tide goes out there are lots of little crabs which are fun to watch. The resort is a little further out of town so you need to take a taxi in and back, but it's feels nice to be away from the hustle and bustle. The food in the resort is really tasty and there so much fruit for breakfast!! If you want to relax in beautiful surroundings with a lovely pool and beautiful beach with you own little bungalow to sleep in then stay here!!

Great service, Great beach for kids”

friendly staff, clean, clear water, great beach

We enjoyed our 5 day stay. The breakfast was good and changed each day. Staff was really great. Only the family rooms have hair dryers and water heaters for tea/coffee. However, the front desk gal brought us one of her own hair dryers - so considerate. Loved renting a motor scooter and exploring the island. The snorkel/dive boats come pick you up right from the beach in the mornings, so convenient. Our room was clean and air conditioned. The waterfall wasn't working and the pool wasn't very big, but most adequate. Must rent chairs if you want to be in the shade but they are cheap. One problem not related to the resort is that you have to take 2 ferries to the island. If you have to wait, it could take as long as 5 hours to/from the airport, so just be prepared with snacks, drinks and a good book! The prices at the restaurant are some of the cheapest on the island and food is very good. Also can walk or take a tuk tuk to tons of other restaurants. Safe family island.

Nice little resort, good for families ”

    location and quiet atmosphere

Lovely and helpful staff. Stayed in a detached bungalow with great ocean views, comes with air con which is a bonus. Kaw Kawang is very family and age friendly so its pretty much lights out at 11. If your after a little more night life a wander down the beach to the bigger cluster of resorts where more people hang out till later or head in to Saladan town. Used the on site travel agent to book a long tail trip to Pi Pi and Ao Maya which was great, he was really helpful. Will definitely be hiring scooters for our next visit!

    Very friendly staff
    Restaurant is no good

The hotel has a nice view and is situated in a nice area, not too far from everything. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Off all the hotels visited on our tour in Thailand the staff from Kaw Kwang was the best. They always smiled and were always helpfull. Thumbs up! The restaurant however did not impress me that much. They advertise "American Breakfast" but surely an American Breakfast has bacon?? We also ate there one night and was not that impressed. But the worst was the flies at breakfast. Yes I understand it is warm and this is nature, but surely something can be done about the flies at the mornings!! Overall we had a nice stay at Kaw Kwang.

Quiet, out of the way resort with a nice pool”

    Pool, friendly staff, quiet location

Kaw Kwang is the Thai for Deer Neck a description of the neck of land out to a rocky peninsula. As such it is virtually the last resort on the beach and so nice and quiet and away from the hubbub. About 2km from the main town...just a bit far to walk although possible. We were greeted by friendly staff with a couple of fruit juices and bags carried to our bungalow. The bungalow was adequate but nothing spectacular. It is showing wear and was a bit grubby. This did improve once we mentioned it. It did have a couple of chairs on a decent veranda. The resort was very much for westerners. The restaurant/bar was pretty average. We ate breakfast and dinner there twice - it was pretty average but not expensive. We hired a moped for 200B/day from the resort and ate out at some lovely restaurants in town (recommend Ling Uan - Fat Monkey - right at the T-junction in town then on the right). The best thing at Kaw Kwang was the swimming pool. Very nice with a waterfall and a water level edge looking out over the beach. It should be mentioned that the pool does have a sloping entry at one end where one could slip and bang your head. Also some sharp edges in the pool. Not the best for wild running around!! Kaw Kwang was perfectly acceptable for the 1200-1300B we paid for it but if you want night life closer then it might be too far from town. There were regular resort taxi service... not sure if it cost or not.
