Beautiful spot a little off the beaten path ”
We really enjoyed our stay here! Extended it twice for a total of 5 nights. We had the sea view room which is an incredible bungalow literally stepping onto the beach. Woody is great and the staff is wonderful! It’s such a relaxing place and we loved Dimiao, and the surrounding area. It’s well worth the trip from Tagbilaran.
Really nice hotel”
This place is nice. The food was great rooms big and clean. My only complaint is that the WiFi is terrible until 1am when all the staff have gone home. The problem is that they use all the bandwidth so there's none left for the guests.
Sea breeze suite”
Stayed here 3 nights in April 2019. Staff very friendly and helpful. Large clean and comfortable rooms. Meals excellent and I recommend their micro brewery beers. The resort is about 40km from Tagbilaran so a bit out of the way, but for a quiet relaxing stay this place is ideal.
Great resting spot”
very nice spot...a bit far from town...but that also makes it nearer to major tourist attractions.... spacious rooms, nice bar area, beach in front not much good but sandy spots not far away ...the cooking is pretty primitive, they could certainly lift the standard here... and there's a lot of fish on the menu but not actually available.. very nice staff
Great hotel, great staff and good food. Ate my breakfast every morning with a ocean front table! Great sandy beach. Staff was the best! Will return. Stayed 10 days Jan 2019. The best.
What I liked most about this place is Woody's restaurant and bar. Woody imports his seasonings from the US; everything is quality. The bar is well stocked, and he even has his own micro brewery. Coffee is fresh brewed, even in the rooms.
Nice location and out of the way if you don't mind travelling , great pool but Jacuzzi not working. Food ok Woody's does an awesome Baby Back Ribs , Free breakfast is very small serving and needed to order extra to be satisfied. Many ants everywhere including inside accommodation which caused a few bites on my legs. But bugs are expected in these parts of the Philippines. All in all I enjoyed staying at KAYLA'S 3 out 5 stars
Clean but average, we upgraded to Sunrise Vista”
The Ocean View Suite is quite small in comparison to more luxurious rooms, though, still comfortable. It is great that there is a small bar fridge comes with the room. However, for elderly people or very young children, it will be more suitable for them to stay at Sea Breeze Suites to avoid having to climb the stairs, with just 30% more in costs. Family with bigger, up to two children, can choose the Sunrise Vista Suite with a King and a lower double if the kids can climb the steep stairs with little danger and the parents want them near. We upgraded ourselves to Sunrise Vista to be close to other members of the family. The DVD machine in the room is a very thoughtful and brilliant facility as it enabled us to play DVDs we brought from overseas to the granny of the family, who could not understand any of the English cable program. Food and staff service at Kayla's are exceptional good and it gives a very personalized warm feeling. We also noticed that Kayla's driver has a specially tender heart for children, we are sure, judging by the gentle glow in his eyes with somewhat shy grim when he listened to our 9-year-old boy's words. You get the safe and calm feeling that you don't mind taking day trips with him. We had most of our meals at the hotel at ease after taking a stroll along the beach or a good swim in the pool. The tranquil atmosphere Kayla offered us is just what we need for a holiday. Kayla's is big enough for a group, but small enough to remain private that we would gladly take our clients to stay with.
Quiet location, great restaurant”
We enjoyed our stay here, the room was comfortable and the food in the restaurant was very good and not particularly overpriced as suggested by some reviewers. Kayla Beach Resort is a fair way out of Tagbilaran but the local town Dimiao offers some fabulous ruins and you can catch a bus easily to the Tagbilaran IBT (integrated bus terminal) opposite Island View Mall really easily and cheaply, and from there up the the Tarsier Sanctuary or any number of other attractions. The beach is not the best at Kayla Beach, but the pool is nice for a refreshing dip. The staff were very friendly and always helpful. The resort seems to cater to a number of American men and their Philippino girlfriends, as the owner is American, but you can keep to yourself or mix as you like. I would recommend Kayla Beach Resort to anyone looking for a quiet place offering a relaxing pace, with good opportunity to get out and about on the buses to explore at will.
Paradise, away from the busy Panglao island.”
From the moment the driver picked us up from the ferry terminal, the experience was great. On arrival we received shell necklaces, great souvenir for people back home and complementary drinks. The resort is small but very well equipped. Day tours is very well organised and great value for money. Renting a motorbike (organised by hotel) is a great way to explore the island. The balcony and the view is the best feature.
Affordable quality on Bohol”
Kayla'a beach resort is an immaculate small oceanfront resort operated by an American who definatley knows how to run a resort. The room was super clean, basic but comfortable. Surroundings are professionally landscaped, very lush and beautiful. A great staff and fantastic American and Philippino food await your arrival.
Don’t go there. It’s not clean, mold in bathroom and bedroom. Food not fresh, it was frozen before. 800 php for a bottle of wine ( 130 php in shop ) is to much expensive. There work hookers, so it’s not a place for couples and families. The beach very close, but full of trash and the water isn’t clean.
Just okay resort”
Resort is located on the side of the main road, therefore you can hear noise of traffic at night. Pool is nice but don't expect a nice beach to go swimming. Resort in need of maintenance, varnish needed everywhere, we were in room 3 and bathroom needs to be redone. Food is average and fairly expensive for what you get, but you don't have much other choice there. WIFI is only available at the reception area. Staff is friendly but not very professional. Definately not American standards as advertised on Agoda or booking.com.
peaceful, quaint, good food. ”
This was my first resort i ever stayed in, in the Philippines, now like my home, and the people my family, 7 times in less than 5 years, probably the most tropical resort feeling place on Bohol, it has had a few bug problems but i can tell you they are fixed, the relaxed feel of this place just cant be overstated, maybe not for everyone, as it is a bit further from the capital, but thats why i like it. by car it is still only a VERY PLEASANT 30 minute sea side drive to Tagbilaran, for any and everything you could want, there are many shops and centers much closer that you can get all the basics. There are 3 different room sizes on offer, the smallest is still very comfortable and arguably have a better view than the next biggest size up, none have any real disadvantages, really just your preference and budget. Like i said the staff are like family so i wont go on any further. Food is good, very good, and the owner John has taken to brewing his own beer, now i am NOT a drinker but i did have one because i thought i should, and it was, well, bloody good ! The pool is not big, but this place oozes romance, it has that just for you sweetheart feel that your partner will love you for. I totally love this place, it is like my home, the people my family and i am NEVER disappointed, but i only feel like that, because thats the way you get treated from the start. Just thinking, the food is so good there many locals go there for a treat, dinner, lunch under the cabanas by the water.... seriously a nice meal out.... This is a real person.. Edwin Brown Sydney Australia.
The location is not ideal if you want to do anything in the evenings. Its closer to Chocolate hills and most of the big sight seeing locations than the resorts down South but it's over 1hr away from any of the night life or main restaurants. If you are looking for no crowds it's perfect.
This is probably the best place I've stayed in my 6 months here in the Philippines. The Staff was great and always concerned that you were happy. The food was great. A very diverse menu that had many things i was missing from the states and I never had anything off the menu I didn't like and I felt the pricing was very reasonable. I am already planning a return trip when i come back to the Philippines in October.
hoit water heater for showere broke and the owner didnt feel fixing was a big deal,,,,also the toilet seat was so loose that it gelpt falling off,,had to fix myself,,the resort is nice but needs to be updated and have things fixed when they break down....it takes almost 2 hours to get there from the port...prices for the food was high,,,hamburger was supposed to be their specialty,,,,wrong.....it was dry and overcooked,,,,no juice coming out,,,grilled chicken and ribs were excellent, they work on a small budget there....
Very relaxed and quiet”
First of all we absolutely loved Bohol! There is so much to do and so many activities! The resort was nice and quiet, one day we just stayed by the pool and had it all to ourselves. The breakfast is OK and the restaurant is very good. We also tried massage and it was very good too. The downside is that it’s a bit isolated from everything... It will take you about 1 hour to get to Panglao beaches or to the port/airport. We had a transfer for 1000pesos one way in a minivan. The fireflies are must see and it’s not too far, about 20-30 mins to Loboc river.
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was very peaceful and quiet, the staff was also very helpful!”
The only thing is: “Beach Resort” is actually not the right name for it. The beach is full of waste - not only sea grass, pretty much everything. It’s really sad because the water would be amazingly clear and nice but before you can reach it, you have to walk over all this waste. If someone would clean all this (and we do think that’s somehow possible) it would be just perfect. Although we really enjoyed our stay, we even extended for 1 more night.
Peaceful with stunning views”
Although this hotel is away from the main towns and tourist areas the staff offer a number of tours and were really helpful in organising them and other transport. The pool is small but well maintained and there are hammocks to relax on by the sea where you can watch stunning sunrises.
