Kenting Street hotels & places to stay

To be totally honest, I did not watch the movie before I picked this spot and not until I was there that I started to realize that the movie is so popular, everybody is still talking about it. It is not a good season for coming here in Dec, too much windy. When staying in a hotel with it’s own private beach, it is too sad you can only stay in room. Yes, the oceanic scene is unbeatable, but it would be better if I could stay in upper floors as the trees are somehow blocking my sight. You have rich choices at breakfast, and other entertainments, a few minutes walk from the main Kenting street, where you have the true leisure.

We booked a jacuzzi room and loved it. The hotel is truly a five star with world class service and amenities. The room includes complimentary daily fruits (apple, orange, banana, and kiwi) along with complimentary daily drinks (two bottles of water, small can of sprite, iced oolong tea, vegetable fruit drink and sport drink). The bathroom includes your standard amenities plus shaving kit, toothbrush kit and foldable hairbrush. It was nice to have a portable dehumidifier as it quickly dried our wet beach clothes. Without it, our clothes would have taken days to dry in the humid weather. The beach across the street Xiaowan (little beach) was well maintained by the Caesar Park Hotel and the hotel provides complimentary lounge chairs with beach umbrellas for the hotel guests. In our opinion, Xiaowan was a much nicer beach than Baixia (White Sand Beach) as there was no litter or trash on Xiaowan. The hotel pool looked really nice and inviting, but we never had a chance to use it with such a nice beach across the street. Everything in Kenting is relatively close and easy to get to. We heard there may be a free shuttle bus from Kaohsiung Airport to the Caesar Park Hotel, but we ended up taking the Pingtung Express bus which as a stop right at the hotel. The buffet breakfast had a wide variety which changes daily, but it not worth the $550NT per person when much better and cheaper options (less than $100NT) are available in the nearby town of Heng Chun.

My friends and I stayed at Howard for two nights on a trip to Kenting. We stayed in the deluxe double (mountain view), which was a large room with who king size beds and a balcony. I was 100% satisfied with the room. The bathroom included a separate shower and tub, and the shower areas was enclosed - this is not the case of many bathrooms in Asia, but is certainly my preference. The booking included a buffet breakfast, which is quite good - it includes traditional Chinese foods, but also had some western options. I am a Canadian vegetarian, and since arriving in Taiwan, I have struggled with the food, but I was very happy with the selection at Howard. The location of this hotel is fabulous - it is about a 5 minute walk from the night market, and has a tunnel that leads to a small beach, where guests can swim, or rent an umbrella and just relax on the beach. There is also a large swimming pool and two hotels at the Howard - I didn't spend much time there, as I'm more into the beach, but it looked nice. The only thing kind of strange about the Howard is that downstairs, on your way to the beach tunnel, there is a very large games arcade.play area for children, and it smells a bit weird down there. The staff at the Howard were very helpful - I remember a gentleman named Woody checked us in, and explained the amenities the hotel offers, gave us two free drink tickets, and a coupon to save on bicycle rentals. He also knew a little English which was nice. The Howard lobby entrance is actually about a five minute walk from the main street, but they have an employee in a go-cart who drives up and down the way picking up guests walking along. If you want to leave the lobby and go to the street, just wait a minute and the go cart will take you. You can also rent bicycles, electric bikes, and scooters on the howard premises. Note that the Kenting Express (major bus that goes between the bus/high speed rail station and Kenting), stops directly at Howard.

I've been coming to Kenting for over 10 years now. This is the place I've been searching for. It's different because the owners are on site and unlike the other hotels, they actually care. We were greeted on our arrival by Irene the 2nd sister with a warm smile, she even knew who we were. In the lobby there was an array of top quality boutique sweets and snacks greeting us. Service was exceptional. Breakfast is different, again boutique and you can tell its been made with care and detail unlike the generic breakfast you find at other hotels. The rooms are specifically designed by an Austrian designer. It's the little things that make a big difference like international adapters, locks on shower doors, special curtains, the full complement of 125 TV channels, help yourself to the entire mini bar for free, a free shuttle bus to and from the main street for those who don't have transport, but the best part, they treat you like family, you are not just another number, you are a friend.

If you don’t want to rent a car this is a perfect place to stay as it’s walking distance from the Kenting Main Street where the night time action is. The drop-off from the bus from Kaohsiung is also 3 minute walk away. Extremely convenient. There are many motorcycle and scooters rental around the hotel. (Please avoid 帥哥租車，the one right at the corner of the Main Street and the alley heading into the resort!! The lady who owns the place try to make to pay for damage that I did not incur. And she is simply unethical in her way of handling it.)

Smokey Joe's is a famous catering and hotel group in Kenting. The one we picked is situated on Kenting Road, the most famous and busiest street in Kenting. From lobby to hotel room and some in house guests, the hotel gives you an aura of America. Most hotel rooms have balconies facing the public swimming pool. The room is well equipped with free water and soda drinks. What's impressive is the hotel brand "Smokey Joe's" bathroom things like lavender body cleanser, shampoo, conditioner and guess what? Sun Block cream, so considerate, aren't they? If you want more for your family and friends, you may buy them from the lobby. Since the distance between each attraction is quite far, the best transport is motorbike and bicycle. But as most tourists do not hold an international motorbike license, they have no choice but renting electric bikes at about NTD800 per day (no deposit is required). Food is not as tasteful and special as in Taipei, Tainan and Kaohsiung but you will still enjoy the traditional night market from 6:00pm.

Room and toilet were good. Complex replicates old Southern Chinese style buildings, which is interesting in itself. Though it is generally worn, important areas like the room and toilet are well maintained. Vending machines, coin-operated laundry machines and dryers (working but a bit dirty, just do a bit of cleaning with tissues). Note that there is no direct route from the complex to either Dawan(immediate West) or Xiaowan(immediate East) beaches. You have to walk out to Kenting Street and then to the beaches.

The hotel is located at the best part of kenting. The surrounding area is great. You can easily assess to anyway from there. There is a bus stop right at the hotel. So if u take public bus to kenting. U only need to walk less than 5 mins to the hotel. Outside the hotel is kenting street. At night there is a night market there. The food there is nice. At the same time, it won't be nosiy. Last but not least. The staff there is very professional and responsible. I lost my student card in the room. They called me and mail it back for me.

Each villa room had their own swimming pool and jacuzzi. The staff was very hepfull, didn't talk much english but enough for what we wanted. The food of the hotel wasn't that good, better if you go outside to the main street of Kenting. The hotel has a great location (right in the end of the Kenting main street shopping area and with a beach right in front of the hotel). The weather was amazing mostly sunny in the day time and fresh at night. The hotel had a direct bus express to Kaoshiung airport (2 hours ride). There are lots of shops nearby where you can rent a motorbike or a electric bike (this one doesn't need a driving license), driving a bike in Kenting is perfect because the streets are clean and it doesn't have too much traffic. I would definitely came back to the Howard Villa Beach Resort.

This hotel is a good value for the money, and the breakfast (served in the adjacent Howard Hotel) is outstanding. Fairly basic accommodations, although they have very spacious common including a pool table. Your room price includes a free ticket each day to the indoor water park, which is very, very good. Just across the road to Small Bay (which is sort-of-closed for the time being because of typhoon damage, but you can still get there), and 10-15 min walk down the road to Big Bay. Lots of great street food and restaurants just up the street a few minutes' walk. It's true that the cheap rooms at WaterSpace have no windows...but don't let that deter you. You don't need to spend much time in your room anyhow. Also kudos to the staff for moving our noisy/smoky neighbors. If you want (relative) luxury, go to the Howard Hotel, but actually there's no reason to do that,

The hotel is located right smack in middle of the Kenting Street where all the shops and night stalls are located. The hotel rooms were also nice, clean and spacious enough. The bathroom comes with a standard sized bathtub (another Taiwan hotel that I went to had a smaller than standard tub) and includes a standing showerhead. Will stay there again if I go back to Kenting for holiday!

Although Langkawi is difficult to find (The name is hidden under a banner and the English address is wrong on Google maps = use Chinese one), we were so happy to be there. The rooms are very clean, spacious and well equipped. It is also right in the middle of Kenting Street so it's very convenient to get to any beach, any store, and of course the night market. Tip: Langkawi is right next to a 7-11, opposite a hotel called "157 boutique" and also opposite the Cosmed Pharmacy.

The owner/operator is very friendly - she does not speak any English but is good at charades so we communicated fine when needed. She was very helpful and sweet, and we would stay here again. There is no elevator so not the best place for those who are mobility impaired. Also she had two very sweet dogs but if you have a major fear of dogs, probably not the place for you. Every hotel on the side street there had dogs so I was in heaven, at least! We loved staying right on the beach, and waking up to a lovely sea view each day. It was far enough off the main road to be quiet, but close enough to walk to the night market in 3-5 minutes. And kind of at a mid-point in the night market as well, that also made it easy. She helped arrange a taxi, and could also help arrange a scooter, etc. If you take the shuttle bus here from Khaohsiung for Fangliao, take the Kenting Police Substation stop. We would recommend it and would stay here again if we visit Kenting in the future.

Pros. It is a very cozy small hotel a few steps from Kenting Street. It looks much better than in the photos. The owner, is a fantastic lady that will help you beyond expectation. I would definitely recommend it for 1-2 nights. Cons. The view from my window was not really appealing. The beach is not very close and is not one of those I would recommend. In any case you would rent a moto to go around.

This place was the best! It was hard to find at first, but when we did it ended up being in an amazing place. 5 min walk to the beach 2 min walk from Kending Rd. The lady was super helpful, the rooms were adorable, and it's behind Kending Rd, so it's not noisy but still close to the action. After our stay, my group decided we wanted to spend another night in Kenting. We asked the lady if she still had availability. Unfortunately no, but she let us leave our luggage as we looked for another place to stay. The free breakfast place closes at 9:30 am so we definitely didn't make that. We ended up going to the beach for a bit and the lady let us use their public restroom freely and asked the neighbor if we could use their hose to rinse off. We got sand all over her restroom, so I tried asking for a mop to mop it up and she was like don't worry about it, she'll take care of it. The only thing was when we were trying to find the hostel, we called the phone number listed on Agoda and it went to some guy's personal cell. We told the lady and she said that's odd because it's the correct number so keep that in mind!

One of very few in Kenting street area that has a lift/an elevator. Clean room, very comfortable bed (but ask for more pillows - flat pillows seem to be a common problem), modern toilet facilities but no shower curtain, hot and cold water dispenser at the lift lobby, two bottles of water provided in the room, friendly proprietor, quiet location a stone throw from the main Kenting Street.

Very good location, it just beside Kenting Street. Room is spacious and clean but there is no lift so traveler with big luggage will need to take note (the hotel in-charge helped me to carry the luggage though). I happened to book during the non-peak season so price is very reasonable. Overall a very nice & good stay with very helpful staff. Will definitely stay there again if i can get such reasonable price.

We choose this hotel as we know that it was close to main street but not noisy as only one street behind (only takes less than 3 mins walk). Internet was bit poor but may be it also happens with other hotels in same area? We booked for standard room with big bath tub but only with building view. You may have better mountain view if you pay bit more for VIP room type. Hotel room size was big and it looks quite new and spacious room, although some people say it was bit more expensive when compare with other hostels at main street. I thougt it was alright for the space and decor it offers. What my kid like was the elevator as most hostels don't have elevator and you have to drag your baggages for going up (It's cool). Futhermore, the host-Ms. Lau was ectremely friendly as she helped us when I am trying to connect with internet to submit my son's homework (although we not succeed in the end). Freshly made set breakfast was served daily, if you don't feel like to eat, you also got choices of restuarant outside. Strongly recommend to join one day tour if you travel with your kid as they covers most of must go places at a very reasonable price. You can simply ask hotel people to book for you. Only one thing need for improvement was their towels were bit old & hard and no in room safty box. You have to carry all your valuables when go out. On the whole, I love this hotel and I will definitely return.

The staffs in this hotel are one of the friendliest we have ever encountered during our vacations. besides, each of the rooms have their own unique theme and are all beautifully decorated. Location is just right in the center of kenting street and it is so convenient to walk to restaurant and bars around the area. Would totally recommend renting their electric motorbike, and you don't need a driving license for it so long as you know how to maneuver and have a basic control of the machine. They might ask u to prove to them that you can handle the vehicle before renting it to you though just as a precaution :)

Guest house is in the middle of Kenting street and is night market is just outside the hotel! There are public buses along the street and convenience stores are just beside and opposite. Staff are very helpful! To the lady who guided us and gave us tips on how to arrange our time to play around Kenting, thank you very much! You helped us alot on how to move around Kenting and public buses to go train station! :) There are cup noodles, snacks, soft drinks and mineral water provided! We enjoyed our street food at the 2nd floor pantry. :) Room wise, bunk bed and we have a TV each! How nice! Shared shower rooms are clean too. Definitely will be back here for future Kenting holiday! :)
