Khao Takiab is a southern extension of the Hua Hin resort community. These two communities are separated by Takiab Mountain, which is populated by monkeys and topped with temples and offers sweeping views to the north and south. It’s an ideal place to watch the sun set or rise while staying in Hua Hin.
Khao Takiab isn’t as heavily developed as Hua Hin. In the past, it was mainly a playground for wealthy and influential Thai tourists, but it’s been gaining recognition as a destination for international tourists lately. Accommodation in Khao Takiab includes a few exclusive resorts and several mid-range options suitable for families.
The beach fronting Khao Takiab is where most of the hotels and commercial plazas are located. Further south is Suan Son Pradiphat, a beach owned by the Thai military but open to the public for recreation. Ample beach facilities exist, but crowds are lighter than at Hua Hin.
The area around the major waterfront hotels at Khao Takiab boasts many beach bars and seafood restaurants. The latter includes Krua Jeaw Local Seafood Restaurant, which has long been a favorite of Thais on holiday. The selection of international restaurants is better to the north at Hua Hin Beach, but a growing international scene in Khao Takiab includes several Italian restaurants.
