Not for young & old”
Worst: beds so hard, you might as well sleep on the ground. Also, palm rats on the tent roofs. Best: Fabulous view, but greedily optimized. Platforms are on a very steep hill; you practically have to climb to get to the tent. Definitely not for you do kids, elderly, or anyone with mobility issues. State of affairs was acceptable, but things were not clean and new like photos. It convinced us to never try tent hotels again.

Beautiful unique accommodation in the misty forest”
This camp is just gorgeous. Set amidst lush forest, with spectacular views across the mountains, a perfect getaway to relax in tranquil surrounds. We stayed here for 2 (actually 3- including an overnight trip away) nights and loved the atmosphere, the incredible, friendly and attentive staff, and the delicious, very reasonably priced food. There was one slight hiccup- we booked not realizing how far from The national park/ dam/lake we were. There are day tours and 2/3 day tours which include overnight stays at floating huts, and at the boutique camp, but these all seemed to be aimed at people who were NOT already staying at the camp... A bit confusing. Seems that most guests who stay at the camp are part of a 1 or 2 night tour. We worked out a tour for us, at a lower price, as we missed out on half of the itinerary. It was enjoyable, but would have been more so if it was the whole package. Would recommend staying here and having your own transportation or booking one of the tours in advance. *Lots of Russian tourists seem to do the tours*

Camping in comfort”
My family and I had a great experience staying at this unique accommodation concept. Each 'room' is actually 10-man size tent with many essentials that can be found in a good hotel room. The tent is air-conditioned; spacey with lots of moving room; beds are large and comfortable; and adjoining private semi-open air bathroom with hot water standing shower. The balcony is also large and overlooks fantastic views of the mountains and the surrounding greens. All the tents are seated on a wooden platform perched out from the hill slopes, either singly or in pairs. There is also tea/coffee making facilities, but no TV or wifi inside the tent except at the lobby area. The tents are not soundproof at all but since the resort is almost 500m from the main road and inside a plantation of sorts, our sleep were undisturbed by vehicular sounds. The usual rich night insects sounds and the occasional distant gibbon calls are heard, and overall it is very quiet throughout the day and night. It can be very noisy inside the tent when it rains though. There is a small outdoor swimming pool, and the restaurant serves very good Thai dishes and pasta. They are reasonably priced. Breakfast is very good but it is almost the same for the 3 days we were there. The staff are friendly and helpful but rather limited with other languages. The resort is not difficult to find since the signage outside at the main road (Route 401 between KM43-44 road marker) is easily noticeable. It is about 8km from Khaosok National Park and no outdoor activities like simple trekking are available at the vicinity of the resort. All activities are a distance away from the resort, and can be arranged by the hotel with costs. The nature of the resort makes it unsuitable for persons with walking/climbing issues.

Not the best view in the area”
I live in 2 hours and a half from Khao Sok. The national park is one of my favorite places in Thailand and so whenever I can, I make the trip there for 2-3 days. A friend from Bangkok booked the Khaosok Discovery Boutique Camps and I was keen to try something new. I was a little disappointed with the place. It took forever to check in and a few other signs (like the slow preparation of the breakfast) during our stay seemed to indicate that the camp is understaffed. The view is nice but for the price, I much prefer a little gem called Cliff and River which is practically accross the road from the camp. The view there is better and the place has additional facilities like a pool, a proper restaurant and a massage centre. It is more upscale for a similar price and the service is better. I don't think I will return to the Camp.

Great views but otherwise disappointing”
We live in Thailand and so are used to the heat and have experienced many hotels from the mountains to the beaches. On arrival at Boutique Camps we were taken to our tent to find that it was unbearably hot and the AC made no difference, as the canvas just absorbed the sun's heat. To get to the tents there are many steep steps to go both down and up, so this is not a hotel for those who find steps challenging. The bed was comfortable but the tent, which has only been used for 4 months, was already showing signs of wear with the fabric on the zips tearing and the canvas was very discoloured. The evening meal was good but our breakfast was a disappointment as for the price of a nights stay, guests would expect a buffet or at least a good meal. We did have a choice but to choose just one dish. We had fruit, mueslie and yogurt which was very good. We managed to also get some toast and butter. However the electricity went off at breakfast and so as the water is pumped to the tents, the toilet and shower were not working! On leaving I apologised to the owner for the way the toilet was left (not our fault but there was no water to flush!) and the only response was 'Oh'. The service by the kitchen and restaurant staff was very good but the owners did not seem to be able to explain how to use the tents e.g. how to make the tent secure, how to turn on the outside light and they certainly struggled to apologise for the lack of electricity in the morning! We do not recommend this hotel - it is certainly not value for money unlike so many other great hotels in Thailand.

Nightmare”
We came back to Surat from Samui, stopping by Khaosok National Park for a night. We planned to spend a night at Khaosok Discovery Boutique Camps. When we arrived, the rooms were well-prepared, but there was a blackout in the area, so it was hot and humid. Staff wasn't helpful for all of our questions about the blackout and surrounding area, eventhough we speak the same language. The food was a little overpriced, compared to resort near by. Electricity were on an off in the evening. We feeled we were left alone in the camp.

Stunning vew”
Overall is excellent. We have a trouble with hot water machine. It seems there is no electricity running in the machine, but it does not matter for me. If you are in the tent during day time is very hot, you have to turn on AC. There are many insects here, so keep shuted your tent, other wise bees and other insects may get in your tents. Atmosphere is peaceful suits for a couple. The hotel also provide a tour, but I think the price is quite expensive, but you can bargain with staff.

Nice idea close to the nature.”
We have stayed 2 days in the camp. The idea for it is very good. The tent has all the amenities for a good stay, the camp has a restaurant. The view from the tent is amazing, also the sounds of the animals are very relaxing. I didn't like the coordination between the office in Phuket island and the staff in the camp, as we have booked our stay through agoda.com and I didn't understand why our booking has been managed from there. There was a language misunderstanding for our transfer booking also. The staff itself is really kind and helpful. The camp offers trips, I can't say it is really adventurous, but it is good to try it. I can recommend it for a short stay, close to the nature.

Good”
Our stay in the hotel was very good. Perfect view, very friendly staff, tasty food. I like the idea of this camp so much. I saw others hotels there but i think this one is the best. Only one thing that i didn't like.. i think it's too expansive.

Unique hotel with incredible views”
Very nice place to relax and take in the views. The staff was great and the food delicious and reasonably priced. Tents had some mold and wifi was only really working from main area and when the hotel had electricity. Excellent stay and would definitely go back!

Jungle hideaway”
(+) Fantastic views, clean rooms (in fact - tents) with aircon, wc/ shower and all other standard hotel amenities, plus decent restaurant in the middle of the jungle. (-) Remote location (could well be an advantage) and rough last few kilometers of the road. To be on the safe side, take all you might need for your stay with you, as the local store might be hard to find ;-)

Beautiful Location and Very Remote”
This is an ideal place to go if you want to relax for several days; I'd highly suggest not booking here if you only have 1 night, as it's not close to any other destination in Thailand and takes a while to get to. It's about 1 1/2 hours from Surat Thani city/airport and 2 1/2 hours from Phuket Airport. You're in the middle of nowhere, which makes the ambiance really serene but also inconvenient to find taxis, conveniences stores, restaurants, etc. - There is a restaurant on-site that is open in the morning and evening, it is your only option to eat within an hour radius. The food was okay, nothing exemplary. The accommodations were very unique and maintained but the staff has extremely limited English compared to 4 other hotels we stayed at during the trip. - If you're going to Cheow Lan Lake/Khao Sok Lake, you do NOT need to pre-book through the hotel, the prices are almost double. You're better off getting a taxi to the lake and choosing a boat/tour there, the options cheaper.

The idea is better than the realitiy”
We stayed two nights to visit the dam (which is about another 1 1/2 hours away) If you have considerate neighbours, it is a very peaceful, laid back place. Lovely veiws from your terrace and the tent was comfortable enough. They class themselves as 'luxury' and yes, your tent has airconditioning (even though the electric cut out at 10.30 one night and didn't come on until 6.am the next morning - hot!)and you have a bathroom attached, but there is something missing for it to be luxury, which I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe the small touches, for example to provide a safe, real coffee; not instant and binoculars in the tent. We ate two breakfasts and two dinners at the camp which were ok. A limited Thai menu, but they did'nt have banana, mango, bacon, shrimp or prawn for dishes I asked for which made it even more limited. It's certainly different but needs improvement to catch that 'luxury' clientele.

Semi tent camp ”
It is a camp in the mountains. Great view of mountains. Sound of other guests is very clear and annoying if they are group and not sleeping until 12 midnight or later. Do not expect too much facilities. It is a tent with bed and toilet and shower. The stars is amazing in the night of the sky is clear.

Lovely experience”
Really relaxing peaceful place. Our tent had air con and a comfy bed, with electricity, and hot and cold water. It was clean and exceptionally bug proof as long as you always closed it up properly. The bathroom was attached to the tent but not part of it so I did feel a bit nervous having read a previous review about bugs being in it but luckily didn't experience any problems.

Not what was expected”
We are seasoned travelers. Everything from budget to luxury to quirky and different boutique hotels. The hotel had a nice view but there is nothing currently relaxing about it through the renovations. These started after breakfast and went on until dinnertime. People who stay up at the dining area after dinner to socialize can be heard by many of the tents. Breakfast was appalling. Hardly any choice and not very healthy. I had to make a point of asking for fruit to be bought out as an option. The old lady owner is friendly, workers on the renovations are friendly, some other staff are not so friendly. It costs more to do tours booked with this hotel, so book them in town. Tents are all a bit worn and shabby now. Swimming pool out of action. I think if they were honest on their website that there are renovations and swimming pool is not in use we could have at least known and planned to be 'out and about more' or chosen somewhere else to stay.

Khun Pam is the best!”
We really enjoyed our stay here. The views are beautiful, it's quiet and a great place for a getaway. The manager Khun Pam is WONDERFUL. She takes care of everything at the hotel. She made sure we were well taken care of and helped with anything we needed. I would seriously go back just because of how lovely she was!

Perfect end to a trip”
Absolutely loved this place. Totally unique experience and an amazing feeling sleeping and waking up amongst the tree tops watching the mist roll in over the mountains. Only issue we had was a large spider in our room and ants throughout the bathroom - but i guess that's expected when you're in the middle of the jungle.

Nice Hotel alternative”
Very nice view and location in the Jungle. Nice tent set up and comfortable for a camp. Do not expect perfect facilities and service standards but the team is friendly and the place is cool

Into the wild..”
Wonderful experience. Staff were helpful and personal. One of the best locations for hotels in Khao Sok, 10 km away from the national park entrance. Best if you have your own transport, shuttle buses also provided by resort. Tents are comfortable and roomy, but do expect to have some insects esp if it is rainy. No more than par for the course, given the location out in the heart of nature.
