Simple but ok”
The hotel is a little unconventional. It consists of four separate rooms on the ground floor, hidden away behind some buildings. you sleep on a mattress on the floor. The shared shower etc, is just across the yard. A nice feature was the kitchen. There were cooking facilities and cereals and milk and you could fry yourself some eggs. It was all a bit basic but it saved me a bit of money. And its in a lovely area, lanterned street with lots of restaurant and bars. Full of young in love couples. Also very near the Palaces and the main shopping area and at the end of the street is the underground station, so easy to get to from the airport. I loved Seoul, and moved to a less querky hotel later on.
Nicely located homestay”
Near the Royal palace and also near an underground station and restaurants.
very nice hanok”
I had a very nice stay in the hanok. The host is very helpfull and friendly. The place is calm and beautifull. I recommand.
Great hospitality!! ”
The owner of the guesthouse was waiting for us near the guesthouse to ensure that we would not get lost on our way to the guesthouse! Thank you for the kind hospitality while we were staying with you guys!!! The toilets were clean and well managed and it was fun experiencing a stay at the hanok while in korea!
nice to stay, very near to airport bus limousine in case if u dont want to take subway to go to airport the owner is very nice and friendly. ps : u need to download kakao talk apps if u want to communicate with the owner easier, because sometimes owner was not at home and the private bathroom is actually outside the room (in case if u dont know)
Very good location”
We actually didn't get to stay in this guesthouse. The owner told my friend (who arrived first) that the room was too small for us (5 people) so she made us stay in her other guesthouse. I think it was Nara Guesthouse. It's a 6-8 minute walk to Gyeongbokgung station. The owner was nice and there's a lot of food and milk in the fridge for breakfast.
It was a bit tough to find the location since we arrived at night and it was super cold. And a little annoyed that the owner told us she has 2 properties near each other and we will need to move from 1 to the other the next day. But the 1st night stay, we had the whole place to ourselves, with a bedroom, a dining room, kitchen and toilet. It was a very classic Hanok experience. We only realized this the next day when we had to move to the other property which was newer and more modern, and not as traditional feel. Overall still a nice experience.
Owner fetch us from subway station, it will be difficult to find the house without the owner to guide us. Hanok is located at the end of the food street, if you are carrying big luggage, slightly inconvenient for you to walk pass the crowded food street. Breakfast is provided - coffee, egg, kimchi, fried rice but need to cook by yourself. Private toilet is located outside room. wifi is strong.
Special experience with hanok”
Worth to try if you want to experience traditional hanok living with reasonable price. Location just 5 mins away with Gyeongbokgung MRT station and 10 mins walk to Gyeongbokgung. Room is a bit small for 3 but host is very friendly & helpful.
An unexpected experience ”
House owner provided us direction to the guesthouse, but we still miss it because of too many small alleys along the road. It is a busy food street anyway, a lot of local eatries can be found. Also, less than 5 mins walking distance to Gyeongbukgong station and Gyeongbukgong palace. We book Korean Traditional Ondel Room which is unexpectedly small and just about to fit four of us perfectly. All girls. The bathroom inside the room is really small, and low ceiling. It is very easy to have your head to knock on the ceiling if your height is over 160cm. But, there is still other options to take you shower at the shared bathroom outside of the room. All toiletries are well prepared, you can do laundry everyday with provided washing powder. Also, the house owner provided us breakfast (waffle and coffee) which she made! In fact, she also owns a waffle shop nearby guesthouse. Else, you still have the option to make the breakfast by yourself(food is prepared in fridge) or just grab an isaac toast.
Accommodation is walking distance to Gyeongbokgung Palace and subway station. Right in the alley, there are eating places in the alley, so theres plenty of shopping to do. Simple shopping at Daiso is just across the street.
Good Place to Experience Traditional Korean Guest House”
I enjoy staying in this Korean Traditional Guest House. The place is nice and tidy, very close restaurants and subway station. The host is very nice and helpful.
Good value for the money.”
Very good location. Near city center. On a street with a lot of restaurants: food and nightlife. Very friendly and helpful owner/host.
Great location, reasonable price”
The owner was very nice and friendly. Everything was provided and location was really convenient! Near the metro and also main tourist attractions. Room a bit small for a family of 4 but other than that, we enjoyed our stay!
Excellent experience. ”
Peacful and quiet location
Lovley spot, lovley staff. ”
Brilliant spoy in Seoul close to the best sites. Only word of advice check your emails often after the booking as you have to arrange a time to meet the owner to let you in. Don't just rock up expecting the door to be open. 10/10 would deffo return.
Great stay! ”
It was a great experience staying in a traditional hanok. The location of the guesthouse is easily accessible to gyeongbukgung station, exit 2. Outside the guesthouse also has plenty of food restaurants available. The owner is kind and nice and also speaks English and Japanese.
A warm traditional little house!”
Overall we love the house very much! Maybe because only us stay in the house with no other guess! Because we have to share the toilet with other guests on the first day, we feel rather uncomfortable, but on the second day only we stay inside there... And is fun! The only disappointment is the toilet... You cannot have a nice bath there. And is a very good experience to stay at the traditional house! Especially with younger children along.. You can see they are so disappointment when they step inside the house and when they get used to the house they smile! Is very warm inside! I will definitely go back again if I visiting Seoul again! And this time I will bring little gift for the owner because I never thought they are so warm and nice people. Thank you Kimchi Hanok Guesthouse made my Seoul Tour so complete!
I had a short stopover and found KHG a warm (literally) and easy place to be while being near Kyungbok Palace and a nice food centre.
Great location, hot Ondol room”
Room was small but nice and cozy. Since we checked in with 2kids the owner(who was friendly) gave us extra room free of charge! There were all the bathroom products(like shampoo, body cleanser, make up cleanser, hair dryer, comb...) in the restroom. They weren't like hotel quality but consider the price, it was worth it. Rooms were very worm and sheets were clean. It might not easy to find if you can't read korean.
