Beautiful Renovation”
I really enjoyed my stay at the Beacon Grand. The beds were so comfortable; and I loved the down comforter and pillows. The room was so pretty. The Lobby was gorgeous. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The location was amazing. I can't wait to stay there again!

Great choice for downtown SF”
I stayed for a couple of nights and was very happy with the accommodation. The hotel is centrally located, just a block away from union square. The room was big, very clean and stylishly renovated. The bed is huge and comfortable, bathroom is brand new, you also have a coffee machine and water for quick access. The staff is very friendly and I would definitely stay here again!

We loved the location, loved the room, loved the breakfast & coffee each am and loved the friendly staff. The doormen were welcoming and wonderful. If you stay, try sears fine food across the street for a family friendly good meal!

Beautiful hotel with excellent staff”
We really enjoyed our stay here. It was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The recent refurbishment gave it a real air of luxury, which we very much appreciated! The staff were exceptionally friendly, especially the doormen who made our visit so memorable. Would not hesitate to stay here again!

Smoke oozing into room at night”
Ventilation needs work. There was cigarette smoke coming in through the ventilation from other rooms. I am highly allergic and asthmatic so had a miserable night.

Don't let the lobby fool you”
There was blood on the head board and the pillows that were up against the headboard stank. The extremely thin window shade is a translucent white which makes for a glaring bright way to wake as soon as the day begins to break. Also there was only one elevator working out of four and every time we rode it the elevator would go the opposite direction than was indicated when it stopped on our floor.

Sir Francis Drake review”
The Sir Francis Drake hotel is situated in a great location off Union Square and on Nob Hill. I discovered wonderful boutique dress shops and restaurents with easy walking distance. Transportation was an easy access but can be costly. We loved walking and exploring and things were not that far from the hotel. The bar is in a great loction....the artium of the hotel....beautiful bar area and very welcoming to guest. We did not get to experience the total package of the hotel with the dancing and Scala restaurant do to other commitments. We defiently would love to go back and will recommend the hotel to our friends. Anicia Biglow

While some of the experience was less than amazing simply because of temporary construction, we loved the Sir Francis Drake. The enormous main lobby, the superb location, the friendly and timely staff. Thank you.

a different world from the hustle bustle ”
We stayed one night at Sir Francis Drake. Location was fantastic, mins away from the cable / tram. Design is unique, a little world away from the hustle bustle of SF. Only thing was the size, especially the bathroom. Not much space even for amenities. Besides that, pretty fantastic

Great location, clean room, great atmosphere overall. Their staffs are helpful and friendly. They also have some of the best bartenders in all of San Francisco!

Nice hotel, great location”
Hotel based on Union Square. Near for everything. Many choice of restaurant and bar. Few mins from subway station. Room was small, but it’s good organization. The water pressure is good even in high floor. Recommend.

Beautiful view”
We got a queen room with city view. View was great at night and in the day. Staff at the front desk was very friendly. In room breakfast was very good although pretty expensive. Hotel is somewhat outdated but kept in good condition. Bed was comfortable but felt smaller than queen so was a little tight. Elevators are pretty slow with long waits.

Excellent hotel but was not aware I would pay substantial taxes on top of the room rAte”
The hotel was comfortable and in an excellent position - I have stayed there twice but the internet provided is extremely slow and almost impossible via a vpn unless you paid for an “upgrade” at $12 per day. This is a practice I find widespread in the USA of hotels gouging once you arrive. The site did not make clear that there were very substantial taxes not included in the quoted room rate which added approx $30 per day - very misleading - no fridge in the rooms is unacceptable when staying in summer. However I did appreciate that they provide refillable shampoo, soap dispensers by contrast to the rest of America where the wanton use of disposable plastics is appalling. Hotel staff were very helpful but unless the internet issue is resolved I would not stay again and object to paying $12 per day for adequate internet speeds

The location is perfect, downtown Union Square. The lift and room condition, however could have been better and more modern. Our toilet door couldn't be locked.

Friendly Staff but Lacks Transparency”
3 rooms for 2 nights. All adults. Took advantage of the USD$10 voucher per room per day by declining housekeeping service for respective day. Rooms were listed as being same standard. There were differences in layout which added to the charm of hotel.We kept staff fully informed from point of check-in, that upon check-out, we would be seeking something in writing which shows what (if any) incidentals would be charged.We also advised them we would be seeking release of the USD$100 per room/per night security hold from our credit card upon their satisfaction at the time of check-out. The promised immediate release did not occur, despite verbal reassurances gained via the Front Desk staff from back of house Accounts staff. A now disputed additional charge has been made to our credit card since our departure. I had specifically allowed sufficient time when checking-out, for the confirmations to be obtained from housekeeping staff about the condition of the rooms/mini-bars. We also had left cash tips for the housekeeping staff, not because of any special or extra care, but because it is expected as a standard in USA. There was no routine final paperwork & I struggled to get any written acknowledgement that there were no incidental charges. I later heard that the mini-bar re-supply is handled through an external company. Someone has tried to state that we had used an item/s from one mini-bar. This is being contested through our credit card company & also by tel today (via internet telephone) to hotel front desk. The front desk employee was very professional & said she would be reversing the charge immediately. I do not make a habit of doing an inventory of the mini-bar upon check-in, but would advise future guests of doing so or at least taking photographs to assist with unauthorised charges.

The location is perfect, right at Union Square besides Saks Fifth which made it easy to get to the shops around the area. The room was bigger than expected cause I know most rooms in SFO is a bit small. Would definitely stay again!

Fun Stay”
We stayed for the weekend. It was clean and all staff were helpful. It was a good value, but the Valet parking was $67 a night with included taxes. We ordered room service breakfast one day and it was only $10 more than the restaurant, which was nice. I would defiantly stay here again.
