    Exceptional”

The location is very serene with beautiful forest views. Mt. Kinabalu sits behind the lodge. The verenda offers great views anytime of the day. One can cook in their kitchen. As you are either coming from KK or Sandakan, at the turn off from the main road to the small road to the lodge, there are vegetable sellers for really cheap. We walked out everyday to the Mt kinabalu Park since we like to walk. Staff are very nice with limited English but is sufficient. You can eat at the lodge just keep in mind is very simple meal. The facility is clean and simple. There is no WiFi on premise and the Digi phone card we got gets no reception at the lodge, but we were fine with that.

    Quiet stay in the mountains”

Lovely stay near Kinabalu National Park. In lieu of wifi and phone service they offer board games (c'mon, turn off for a bit:)) Do double check on transport bookings as the bus we were told was going to Poring Hot Spring only took us as far as Ranau and then we had to find our own way after that. Otherwise, very peaceful and enjoyable. Bring warm clothes because it gets cold!

    Exceptional”

This lodge isn't for everyone as there is nothing to do except enjoying the beautiful fauna and flora on the deck of the beautiful wooden house. The accomodations are super basic and they only serve vegetarian food but I think that you may use there kitchen/bbq if you want to cook yourself. Accomodations are basic and there is no WIFI and bad cell phone reception. The park entrance is approx 2km/30min walk and some fitness is required if you have to carry your luggage from the main road to the accomodation, it is approx 1km on a hilly road. They can also arrange transport to the park if necessary (20myr) People who love it quite and natural will love it here!

    "Scary Roads"”

The hotel is fantastic and cozy but the road leading to the hotel is very dangerous because the hotel located at mountain. I suggest to either go early to the hotel (before sunset) or park the car at roadside and hike to the hotel.

    Reviewed December 06, 2018

Harshini, actually the road is a " Kampung Style" small road......it is little bit challenging if going in in the dark......but anyway many thanks for your support.

I had a wonderful week at Kinabalu Mountain Lodge. I was there to photograph moths and was not disappointed. The lodge was very clean and the staff helpful. Food was also tasty and good value for money. I would highly recommend the lodge to nature lovers who want a quiet place to stay outside of Mt. Kinabalu NP.

    Time to unwind”

the lodge is secluded, far from main road, and the access road is narrow and quite dark to walk alone. But i like the quiet of the place, lots of wild birds....Enjoyed the place. The rooms have bad soundproof wall, so activities at the living room can be heard loudly.

    Lovely Lodge!”

Simple setting, cozy and friendly environment, clean room (nice white bedding), clean shared toilets, low water pressure but good enough to have a warm shower + hair wash. Very narrow road leading to the lodge, and steep at the last 40m, but I hv seen a couple of the lodges/residences in the area are of the same (narrow + steep). Very helpful, friendly and easy staffs.

    Wonderful Mountain Lodge”

Simple inexpensive lodge in an excellent location for nature lovers. Lovely people running it, really friendly. Remember you are 1500m above sea level so its cold, and it rains. The road up to the lodge is challenging but getting to a remote natural spot always is. It is about 1km away form the main road and another 1km to KNP HQ, so be prepared to walk, drive (if you bring a car.....we did) or hitch hike. We gave a life to a couple of guys walking back to the lodge which they appreciated. Get a room facing the garden if you can. The view is great.

The forest. the sunset, the people

It was great! Even though driving the 1km road up there with a compact car is a bit risky, but when you reach the top, you will be amazed! You are surrounded by forest, birds, and moths. Nature lovers should really stay here. Don't forget to watch the sunset - it's just stunning!

Good view but less entertainment. ”

Very Cold, Isolated, Surrounded by Rain Forest.

1KM from Kinabalu Park & 1KM from the main road. I arrived there around 2pm, once i entered the road going to the lodge, the fog are very heavy even using my car hi-light, sometimes i even need to go outside to check what ahead of me since the road are too small. It is better to go there before dark because even in the afternoon once you entered there it will be hard to see coz of the fog! Network are poor for cellphone but you still can make a phone calls. No television (Astro) but i saw an Astro Decoder??! Dinner will be serve until 8PM & about RM10/Plate which is pricey. Drinks around RM2-3. It is very cold that you dont even need to get a room with aircondition, guaranteed! Hot bath available but i'm sure you will not in the mood for bath coz of the cold. The reception girls are nice & even serve me dinner after 8PM. I am very sure travellers like this place!

Amazing place to stay with the best staff!!”

The dinners (cooked in-house), the location, the gardens and moths

Wonderful place to stay. Tonnes of moths to entertain you at nighttime, and only 2km walk (or taxi) to the entrance of Kinabalu Park. The staff were wonderful and cooked delicious meals. The cat who lives there is very friendly. Great value for money. The toilets and showers were great and clean, although keep an eye out for hot water times (hot water is not always available. Also be warned the wooden floors and walls are paper thin, so noise travels (attention: young couples :p). A wonderful place to stay!

    1) friendly staff 2) view was great, wonderful; tree and hill give peace to mind & heart 3) the provide dinner (on request); simple but really nice food; enjoy it

98% good. 1% not good as the slipper at toilet not in good condition (please please and please change it). I fall, down ( I was told others had similar experience). 1%; meet selfish 'group' that demanded to change to TV channel for their viewing & the tv volume was too loud.

The staffs were very helpful, close to Kinabalu Park, Accessible by public transport

It was awesome! I had a great time at this Hotel, I came here for Climbathon 2013 and very much enjoyed my stay here.. Although the walls are thin, its best to bring a ear plugs to prevent hearing noises from the other rooms. Other than that I find it alright, toilets are clean, there are hot water too which is really important for me. The view that I got was amazing!! Would love to drop by here again next year!

    Primeval, Cold, Attentive Staff

My stay was great and this is the place great for bird watching, rare species of insect is flying all around the lodge. If you were looking for something luxury/comfortable, it might not suits you. It only bad thing is shower was not hot enough, it was freezing cold.
