Great Location, Next to Union Square”
Experience a downtown San Francisco hotel at the King George Hotel. Within the Union Square neighborhood, the King George Hotel is a unique boutique hotel in San Francisco offering comfortable accommodations with a European flair at affordable rates. This convenient San Francisco hotel is a short walk away from restaurants, shopping, theaters, the Moscone Convention Center and San Francisco’s world famous cable car line to the iconic Fisherman’s Wharf.
Great affordable hotel with lots of perks”
Considering this hotel is in the Tenderloin District (well I'd say the boarder of it) it was a pretty decent hotel for an affordable price. The hotel is in one of the best convenient locations which have everything at your doorstep without being too congested or noisy. You have the BART (Powell St Station), the MUNI and Cable Carts within 2 blocks from the hotel. It's also extremely close to shops such as Macy's, Bloomingdale and Nordstrom which is a shoppers dream having everything pretty much at your door step. The only downer would be the slow elevator. There is only one and you can find yourself waiting a while. Another downer is the homeless people around the area but I found that you found this all over San Francisco. Also if you treat them with a little respect they will tend to be friendly back. As a single female traveler I had no issue with this nor felt scared compared to some other areas of Tenderloin. The hotel does have small rooms however I've stayed in much smaller. I also don't tend to spend my entire time in the hotel room so this did not both us at all. The beds were comfortable, linen was clean, the showers had great pressure and were hot. The internet speed was amazingly fast too. Would I stay here again? For sure!! I actually had booked this hotel for 3 nights and had to come back to San Francisco for my last night so I re-booked this hotel for my last day in San Francisco. If I come back I'd definitely stay here again.
The King George Hotel, San Francisco”
The King George Hotel San Francisco is ideally located within walking distance of Union Station which provides wonderful shopping, restaurants and a wide variety of transportation options to all parts of the city. The cozy quaintness of the hotel provided a comfortable atmosphere to relax and regroup before taking off to explore the city. On site personnel were pleasant and helpful regarding any additional assistance or information. I highly recommend this Hotel for the conservative traveler!
Just nice.”
My wife and I were on a budget to tour San Francisco and we figured we just need an affordable place that is comfortable enough for us to sleep in. King George Hotel fits the bill and more as it is nicely decorated, staffed with courteous people and the location is just fantastic right in Union Square. There's no room service or restaurant in the hotel but there's tons of eateries nearby including the nice little diner next door. The hotel offers free Wifi and the room was pretty clean so personally, I'd recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for choosing the King George Hotel as your destination stay, Please come again!
Good staff, location; average rooms”
King George is value for money. It is at Union Square, which is near the best shopping places and restaurants in downtown San Francisco. Good English-speaking staff. The rooms are average as they could be cleaner. I saw strands of hair on my bed when I arrived during my first night. If your room doesn't have a working desk/table, you will need to request for one. Good thing the hotel has very good staff. The hotel is about 100 years old and the elevator is slow. Still, all things considered, King George is value for money.
Thank you for choosing the King George Hotel as your destination stay, Please come again!
Hospitality at a great price”
We had a fantastic stay at the King George during our honeymoon. The staff went out of their way to make me and my wife feel welcome and make our trip special. The King George would be my top choice next time I visit San Francisco!
Thank you for choosing the King George Hotel as your destination stay, Please come again!
Good location ”
The hotel is located very near the Union Square and it was very easy to access to any sightseeing spot. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant but has a bar which offer Happy Hour. The hotel service and the staffs were great. The room was tiny but pretty much standard for San Francisco and had a basic amenities. Also the hotel had a water server so that was really good! I recommend for someone who are looking for a place to stay in San Francisco.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay.
Wonderful Stay, close to shopping, transportation, and food”
This was the first trip to San Francisco for me and my wife. The staff were very nice and friendly. Hotel location was great very close to restaurants, shopping, BART, and cable cars. If we come back to San Francisco we will probably stay here again.
Hello dear Edward, We are so happy to see your nice review regarding recent stay at King George Hotel. We are glad to hear our staff made your stay most enjoyable. We can not wait to see you here. Thank you. Sincerely. Kerem Yalcin Front Office Supervisor
Excellent”
Nice hotel centrally located with easy walking distance to the MUNI & BART public transport systems (5th & Powell), which allow easy connection to Caltrain and thus either San Francisco Airport or San Jose airport. Also there were many good restaurants within 5 minutes walk, though not the hotel's fault but eating out extensive. Main shopping area was also within easy walking distance. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was small but have everything at hand and was comfortable (even had ceiling fan in room, though no AC, but SF was cold at night for late July) - what more could one ask for?
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are happy that you enjoyed the location of our property and our staff was helpful. We appreciate your feedback Best, Minh L.
Weekend at The King George”
Stayed here over a holiday weekend. the rooms are clean and the staff is honest. They were pleasant and eager to make our stay comfortable. Reminded me of our favorite hotel in Frankfurt, Germany. We bought the CityPass and that made the King George our base hotel. I do not think I have ever enjoyed in the City any more than this one. I have stayed at The Nikko at 3 times the price and my room was hardly any larger. Stayed at The Westin St. Francis and that was a wonderful room. I slept there and showered there which is exactly what I did at The King George. No different. I loved this little place. Hate the fact that they don't have good espresso, fruit and rolls in the a.m.
Great hotel, ideal location”
5 night stay was great in this hotel. The rooms although small, were clean tidy and adequate which, at the end of the day is all you can ask for. The staff were very good and always accomodating to questions. Drew, the barman was very informative on San Francisco in terms of area's, history and general funny stories. I would definately stay here again and would highly recommend it too!
Had a pleasant stay at the King George”
My partner and I had a pleasant stay at the King George. If you are a tourist, I think the location is pretty great, as you are close to the Powell bart station, ferry building, downtown shopping, chinatown etc. and the room price is very good for what you get. Although breakfast is not provided, the hotel is close to some delicious breakfast joints so it's easy to find something good to eat in the morning. Our room was clean and cozy and we both had a good night's sleep, which we needed after our long flight. If I am back in SF and need a hotel, I will consider staying at the KG again.
King George Hotel”
We totally enjoyed our getaway to San Francisco, and the hotel was definitely a part of it. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. We never ate at the hotel, so I have no idea the quality of what comes out of the kitchen.
MsSuzy from California”
Close to Union Square and easy to walk to other places. The staff is friendly, professional. The rooms are very clean and updated.. Wonderful for an older greystone hotel in San Francisco.
Great Location, Small Clean Rooms”
The King George Hotel is situated in a very convenient location, close to the BART Powell St station and numerous MUNI metro bus and tram options. Union Square, Chinatown and the Downtown district are all minutes walk away. Don't read too much into reviews saying the area is unsafe, as I felt it was fine. Whilst there are homeless people about, there wasn't heaps and most of them are pretty harmless and just want some loose change. The room we got given at the King George Hotel was fairly small, smaller than we expected and what the photos make them out to be. The rooms were clean however, but what was the most annoying fact about our room was that our bathroom had no floor drain. With a shower curtain for the shower only, it meant out floor got flooded easily and there was nowhere for the water to go. Otherwise if you are looking for a simple place to stay in a convenient location, it is a fairly good option.

Very good value”
Still a decent area - the rooms are clean and the bed is huge. Seriously it’s like 5 foot off the ground . Has a bar and some games downstairs - handy to walk around San Francisco
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are happy that you enjoyed the location of our property and had good time during your stay. Hope to see again in the near future. Best, Minh Ly
Excellent”
Stayed while on a short stopover in San Francisco. The hotel was ideal - compact room, nice bathroom, great location very close to Union Square and all public transport. There was some construction noise in the area but wasn't a big worry. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

4 night stay at St George hotel San Francisco”
I took a chance on this hotel booking it over the net at a good price for downtown San F. I have stayed at similar hotels which have been much more expensive. I was very satisfied with the attitude of staff from the time of booking in. The room was not large but adequate for a single traveller, clean and quiet at the back of the hotel. I would stay here again and recommend it to others.
it has a touch of class and a lot of history”
i liked the hotel, it was well maintained. the staff were helpful. the room was stylish and clean. the conceirge was knoweldgeable about the area, the history of san francisco which is really helpful when you arrive in a different city. definitely would stay there again.
