A wonderful stay”

We stayed just one night in Kings Canyon Resort. It is conveniently located for someone who would like to visit the King's Canyon. Our stay was good, the room was clean. The sensation of being in the middle of nowhere was great. The nature around is simply astonishing.

If you want to visit the Kings Canyon, this is a nice place to stay.”

If you want to visit the Kings Canyons, this is a nice place to stay. It’s in the middle of nowhere., not a lot else to do, no internet and no telephone reception. The restaurant is nice, but book ahead it’s quick fully booked. The breakfast was in the same restaurant and was quite good. The little store, not a lot available and very expensive, what is normal because it all needs to come from far. The “hotel” prices are also not cheap, but it’s expensive everywhere in the outback.

Value for money”

It locates in remote area, which is not far away from Kings Canyon, it values for money although the room itself seems small to us. the facility of park is ok but the kitchen is too small. the sunset viewing area is very close to the park, if you visit Kings canyon it is a good place to stay after all.

Nice outback resort to explore”

For a night or two it’s a great, and only, place to stay. Given the dusty nature of the area, they do a great job keeping things clean and tidy. Pool, restaurants, shop and pub with pretty decent, but small pizza. Kings Canyon walk 10 minutes away. Nice staff

Great location”

The viewing area to watch the sunset, the barbeque area

We enjoyed our stay at Kings Canyon. It is a great location and near to the attractions of the area. We enjoyed the barbeque area where there were entertainers in the evening. We also enjoyed the swimming pool. The walk along the Canyon floor was great. I would have attempted to walk the ridge but I was recovering from a bad fall so had to make do with the floor walk but it was very enjoyable, scenery is incredible.

Stunning Location”

Did the 3-4 hour rim walk after a fairly strenuous assent at the start but the climb was well worth the effort. Absolute stunning scenery and a photographers paradise. Combined all this the next day with a 15 minute helicopter flight over the canyon and Carmichaels bluff which gave another totally different perspective of the geographic majesty of this area. Were fortunate to see several dingos at both the canyon and resort. Sunset view was also good.

Nice rooms”

Near Park

Really nice hotel that is close to the Canyon and walking distance to the restaurant in the area. Room was nice and clean and all of the furnishings in the room were quite nice. The beds were comfortable and the help at the front desk was spot on. Would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Good resort hotel”

Comfortable, quiet, friendly

Kings Canyon is a long way from anything. The canyon is worth visiting if you are reasonably fit.Not suitable for wheel chairs. Restaurant and BBQ are a bit overpriced with $38 for a mediocre steak. Friendly attentive staff. Petrol $2.28 per litre!! Room was large and comfortable taking isolation into consideration

Good for visiting Kings Canyon”

Budget accommodation (basic room, shared bathroom) adequate for brief stay to visit nearby attractions (Kings Canyon, Kathleen Springs for us). Comfortable, clean and good value for money (everything is expensive, understandably in the remote Red Centre).

A very pleasant surprise”

We booked the cheaper room with share bathroom as we weren't prepared to spend $400-$500 + a night. We expected a dive and I was prepared to sleep in the car if it was a bad as we expected. However the "share bathroom" was an ablution block (one of three in our immediate vacinity). Many toilets and 4 showers, all very clean especially considering the red dust of the location. Hot water was plentiful again to our surprise, our room was tiny but clean so we were content to stay. The surrounding camping area has beautiful large gums for shade and better than expected lawn. The negative was the number of flies in the hotel which discouraged any thought of eating there but we realise that is something that would be hard to eradicate. Therefore yes, we would recommend the resort and would choose to stay again if travelling to the area.

Worth the trip”

Stayed in campground cabin. Had air con, linen, towels and 4 beds and cant complain about room at all. Great big pool. Canyon rim walk was amazing and definetly worth it. We started at 5.30am to beat the heat and it took us 2.5hrs and we loved it.

Basic but Comfortable”

We stayed in the budget room. Pretty basic Individual rooms with beds, table and chairs and bench, no sink, and a TV that does not pick up the one and only TV station they have, apparently. No phone coverage at all and you have to pay for internet. There is a Shared kitchen and bathroom block a little walk away from the rooms. We had a great view from our room. There are other types of accommodation available but at a premium price. The fuel is vey expensive as is the food on offer, but you have to reminded yourself that you are in the outback. The Canyon is 10 km from the resort.Highly recommend the helicopter flight over Kings canyon , it’s amazing.

Only stay for the location”

location- close to Kings Canyon, viewing platform for sunrise/sunset, info available about local walks etc

In Summary- it was an adequate but very overpriced place to stay near Kings Canyon. We only stayed 1 night and I'm glad we didn't stay any longer. The location (near Kings Canyon) is excellent- but the standard of our room was disappointing. I've stayed at hotel rooms of a similiar standard but usully for less than 1/2 the price. In more detail: We stayed in a standard hotel room and were expecting better quality. Whilst the room was generally clean- both blankets provided were old and had stains/marks on them. The shower curtain was stained and grimey. There were issues with the aircon/heating when we were there. All the rooms are on the same air-con system & it is only changed over from cooling to heating once per yr. Unforuntanately for us the temperature was very cold at night (we stayed end of May- not sure how cold it was the exact night we stayed but in the previous week it had been down around 3-5 degrees overnight) & the heating was not yet on. Our room was freezing!! The 2nd blanket provided wasn't sufficient to keep us warm. There was a letter in the room & at reception apologising for the cooling/heating issues. Staff generally were friendly. The sunrise/sunset viewing platform was a lovely place to sit and watch the sun rise. We ate dinner at the outbook BBQ/Pizza bar as the other restaurant options were closed. Our meals (burgers)- were tasty (albeit a bit more expensive then we'd usual spend- but we were expecting this in such an isolated location). Unfortunately the 'interactive' style entertainment was not to my taste - I was hoping for a nice quite evening meal with my wife- but the band were very loud/ keen to involve the audience. Whilst I'm sure many people love this style of entertainment, it was not what we wanted & unfortunately with the other restaurants closed there wasn't another option. If we were visitng again- I'd prefer to stay at another hotel.

Kings Canyon Resort is a nice spot. Although campground facilities in need of upgrade, the resort itself is nice and peaceful, rooms clean, spacious, with bush outlook from balcony. Staff are very pleasant and most helpful. Would recommend this place.
