More about Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge

Kings Canyon Wilderness Lodge is exclusively located on Kings Creek Station, a fully operational cattle and camel station of 1800 square kilometres. Set in a secluded part of the Station amongst the Desert Oak trees, guests receive the greatest comfort in the Outback with the perfect opportunity to absorb the natural landscapes, including the surrounding George Gill Ranges. There are 10 luxury and exclusive tented cabins with full, private ensuite facilities, all air-conditoned. Gourmet outback meals are served in the quaint dining/lounge communal area or in the warmer months under the southern sky, and after dinner, guests enjoy the Outback with a glass of wine or coffee around the campfire. A range of optional activities are available from the station including quad bike rides, camel rides and helicopter rides (all charges are payable direct). Special tours operate in the surrounding region from the Lodge to visit Aboriginal petroglyphs (ancient stone carvings in rocks).

Excellent stay at the Wilderness Lodge”

A lovely place to stay in Kings Canyon. Close to the Kings creek station for food options. The tents are spacious and very comfortable. The staff are great!

Unique stay close to Kings Canyon”

We loved our one night stay at the Wilderness Lodge. The tents are comfortable, with everything you need for a short stay and the staff are lovely and friendly. We booked the meal package and loved our evening sitting under the stars with dinner. My only comment would be that I think you should get a couple of glasses of wine or beer included for the price, not just one. Kings canyon is about a 30 minute drive away. We would definitely stay there again!

Great accomodation, attention to detail and intimate”

We loved the setting and the attention to detail, we sat outside to eat with a fire pit and blankets to keep us warm, food and drink was prepared for us as a small group, it felt very intimate and we were all made to feel special. The accommodation was clean with lots of attention to detail, also aircon/heater to keep us warm it was minus 5 at night! The Canyon did not disappoint, there was a walk to suit everyone. We went in August so the weather was great for climbing I would not have wanted to walk in the summer temperatures.

Expensive and over-rated”

We paid $420 for the night in our Superior Tent. If we didn't choose to have the $140 pp dinner/breakfast offer, we had no choice but to drive 2kms up the road for a hamburger. There were no tea/coffee facilities inside the tent so if you felt like a cup of tea before going to bed you needed to go over to the main cottage which isn't desirable when the temperate is below 10 degrees and windy. There were no bathrobes. $420 per night and no bathrobes! Especially when you need to walk outside to get to the freezing cold bathroom in the middle of the night. Whilst the staff were friendly enough on arrival; there was no acknowledgement of us at all upon leaving or coming back in the afternoon after a walk. Unfortunately, there isn't much choice at Kings Canyon. Value for money isn't part of the deal.

Short stay”

We only stayed one night so didn't take advantage of the guided walk available. It was great. Excellent food and provided marshmallows for my preteen and teen to toast in the fire which kept them entertained after dinner. Good location near the national park. Helpful young staff who were happy to chat.

Wonderful Wilderness Experience!”

Chosen for its close proximity to King's Canyon, we couldn't have been happier when we arrived for our stay here. We were greeted with a big smile & made to feel welcome by Emily who helped us with our bags to our rented cabin. Beds were organised as a triple to accommodate 3 of us, complete with ensuite toilet & shower facilities. We enjoyed our glamping experience which was enhanced by the sounds of dingos howling in the distance at night... We opted for dinner at the lodge one evening to celebrate a friend's birthday & were touched by the extra effort made by the team to make her feel special. Please note the team need advance notice if you want to dine there as they need to order the food hamper, whilst we thought it was a little pricy to begin with, we were not disappointed with the fine dining experience. Chef Sam ensured that he had prepared enough roast lamb & grilled barramundi to keep the hungriest if guests satisfied. All in all we had a really enjoyable stay would highly recommend the Wilderness Lodge to anyone looking for a night of indulgence in the outback.

Nice place”

Friendly staff, nice set up

Comfortable stay. Nice tents. May be a little pricey considering it is more than 300 per night for fairly basic setup. But probably because you are paying a premium for a touristy area. Meals are also pricey, 30 per pax for bacon and eggs with cereals , bread , fruits , coffee , tea. But again because of the remote area, things do cost more to upkeep. Nonetheless good and friendly staff.
