Warm and welcoming overnight stay in charming pub”

Very warm and hospitable welcome from Kenny and the team. Beautiful pub/hotel in a picturesque setting. The starter style / self service breakfast before the main course.

Whilst the breakfast was enjoyable, some of the food was a bit cold eg mushrooms, toast The bed was comfortable but was only a double. I expected for the price that we’d have a larger bed I felt like the price was slightly on the higher side, although this included the breakfast.

Little gem of a place to eat and stay on the outskirts of Cimbria”

The food was excellent (but portions were huge). Good value for money. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. The ambiance was great. The bedroom was lovely and cosy and little touches made it perfect.

I didn't like leaving Paddy, the very gorgeous dog.

Beautiful accommodation - shocking food & shocking service. Ruined our stay and we left at 4am”

Accommodation was exceptional - really lovely. A beautiful property in a stunning village. Very nice room - immaculately clean.

Absolutely appalling service for the evening meal - and the food was extremely poor. I don't leave negative reviews lightly (and its a shame in such a lovely property) however this was a disgrace. We ordered our meal at 18:00 (after being told we could come down now) We were then told the 'chef' had only just arrived and started at 18:30 - but "I'm sure she will just make a start" We got our meals at 20:00 - yes - that is 2 HOURS sat outside being completely ignored despite the staff being fully aware of our presence. Even when cutlery arrived - no mention of what was to follow was made. It turns out that 20 loud wedding guests turned up a good 45 minutes after us and went inside. All 20 were served before us ( we had no idea) Either - cater for a wedding seperately and close to everyone else, or if this wasn't a private party then cater for everyone fairly. Or - at the very least - tell us what was happening. By 19:30 - (1.5 hours of waiting) someone casually came over to say "the chef has just finished with those 20 and will now start yours" - it still took the best part of another 45 minutes! There was NEVER any sort of acknowledgement or apology - the staff could't care less, & clearly were very economical with the truth. Food - disgusting. Absolutely disgusting and cost almost £50 The chicken burger - was tiny, lost inside a very dry bun. The coating had fallen off & it had a huge piece of gristle in the middle. It was awful & inedible. The accompanying salad was something I have never seen in my entire life - it was 1/3rd of a lettuce just dumped on the plate. I mean exactly that - a huge chunk simply sliced off an entire football sized lettuce and placed on the plate - clearly not even washed. It dwarfed the burger The pizza - a great slab of thick cheese sliding around as one on the base - with not much else. Ridiculously oily. It was honestly disgusting.

High standard, great hosts and a welcome break from our travels.”

Ravenstonedale is a beautiful little village in the scenic Westmoreland Dales. The pub garden is bound by a beck and has visiting red squirrels. The host and staff are welcoming and helpful, and the old interior full of character yet efficient and tidy. We departed feeling like we must return soon.

The food was to a good standard but could be more specific about its use of Cumbrian and Yorkshire produce. There are some notable cheeses across the region- we need to know!! Could have used another chair in the room.

All was quiet and perfect after midnight”

Lovely location, the pub was decorated very well wall the little luxuries of home. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.

There was a water tank above our room that ? Fed the mens room beneath us, it was extremely loud when it was used. You expect some noise especially from a pub bar, which was fine. But you could hear complete conversations from the mens room.
