Location is too far from the station”
Hotel without shuttle to take us from station to hotel, only Taxi to there , so very expensive , around HK $400 one way .
An Absolute Must”
Staying at this Ryokan was one of the loveliest experiences of my life. The room was beautiful and comfortable, the onsen was peaceful and romantic, the kaiseki dinner was approachable and delicious. The service is beyond measure. It is impossible to regret staying here.
Great retreat to get away from the city”
Luxury Ryokan with friendly staff and great rooms with private in-room bath
Kinnotake is an amazing luxury ryokan experience, with top notch service and the most accommodating, kind and helpful staff. I stayed with a friend and we booked the suite with an open-air bath on the top floor. The outdoors onsen-fed bath was super clean and felt great! The only negative about the experience (and we knew this going in) was that the entire inn is smoking - so as nonsmokers, the faint smoke smell was a little bothersome. It happened to be both a national holiday as well as a blizzard day when we needed to leave the ryokan, so buses weren't going up the mountain. The staff at Kinnotake informed of us this in the morning during breakfast, and arranged a private car for us to take us to a point where public transportation was running. One of the ladies on the staff hauled my massive 40lb suitcase down the snowy road to the waiting car so I could focus on maintaining my footing. Thank you so much to the staff at Kinnotake for helping us get out of Hakone that day!
Booked a non smoking room and when we checked in, the room reeked of cigarettes and the staff disregarded it until we asked to changed rooms. He said they were fully booked and offered to bring in 2 air purifiers. It helped a little bit but the machines were so noisy. Did not enjoy the stay because of that.
Fantastic experience. Slightly over priced, but the dinner experience made up for it. The in room onsen is the best I've ever tried.
Very bad motel don't call hotel service very bad , food not good ,location not good ”
Very bad Very thing bag service very bad Like in hell
This was a beautiful hotel in a stunning part of Japan. Only issue was getting on the bus from the station, which was rammed and the hotel did not offer any sort of transfer. They also charged us to sit in the bar, which seemed a bit unnecessary as we were buying drinks.
perfect balance of culture and relaxation”
As soon as you step on site you feel relaxed, the atmosphere, staff, decoration all alleviate the stress of the journey. Stunning room, private onsen bath with incredible views over the mountains. Calm, quiet but excellently located with a bustop just opposite. Very good food served in individual rooms, new culinary experience except the barbequed meat that filled the duplex with smoke- but delicious. Highly recommend.
good healing place”
room rate is too expensive but it is good place for healing. staffs are very kind. i hope to go back someday!
Pricey but worth the experience. In room dining for breakfast and dinner. Private onsen in your room. Can also book the public onsen if you wish. Excellent staff.

Wonderful stay at Kinnotake”
We had a wonderful relaxing stay at Kinnotake. The staff went out of their way to help us with our requests eg. Reserving bus tickets for us from Gotemba outlets to Tokyo station the next day & they provided excellent service from the moment we arrived to when we left. The Moon Spa was in a lovely tranquil setting & our massage treatments, while expensive, were terrific & much appreciated after travelling around Japan for weeks before arriving in Hakone. We stayed in the Sora room which was amazing. Loved the private onsen on the rooftop with a gorgeous view of the mountains!! We only wish that we could have stayed at Kinnotake longer!
Wonderful & relaxing experience.”
I travelled as a couple with my partner. We drove into hakone and in Kinnotake. The drive up the road to the hotel was very steep so a warning for low cars. Once we arrived there was a staff member to welcome us in and direct us to a parking spot. He then collected our bags and led us through into the hotel. Inside, we were passed to an English speaker who walked us through and gave a tour of the hotel and into our room (HARUKA). After picking a time for our dinner and breakfast (8pm & 9am respectively) we were left in our room. The room was absolutely amazing. You walk in to beautiful traditional japanese seating area overlooking the evergreens and another building which I assumed was the spa. The floor is heated and covered with gorgeous tatami matts. The bamboo detail along the windows and up the stairs gave it a relaxing touch. The only toilet is on the lower floor, across and outside the seating area. The bedroom and shower area + hot spring is upstairs which would probably be the only down side to the room. I would say HARUKA is more suited for couples as the bed is directly across from the powder room and shower/hot spring with only a clear glass wall seperating it. The hit spring overlooks the spa and has a beautiful view into hakone and the mountains. The hot spring has constant running water but also a tap to adjust the temperature. The floors upstairs are also heated, ensuring your feet are always warm after leaving the hot spring. We were provided with complimentary 1L water bottle, coffee and tea as well as extra ammenities such as a head band, scrunchie, face wash and body wash + lotion, also the usual; toothbrush, comb, face wipes. The food was the best we had on the trip in an hotel by far. The attention to detail really made everything come together perfectly. The stay was definitely worth the money and I would definitely go back and try another room. I recommend this hotel and recommend getting the breakfast and dinner along with the room.
excellent service, unforgettable hotel”
everything is wonderful. But when I drive to the hotel, they didn't put the sign to let us know their location (the road before the family mart convenience store, no sign to show us to turn left to their hotel)
Excellent, although the hotel wasn't in walking distance to many restaurants. But staying in the hotel was enough. The bus is very convenient and about 30 mins bus ride to Gotemba shopping outlet (bus transfer needed but very easy).
Good Hot Spring. We Can Enjoy the hotspring in the room in private. Price is High but good service
