Kinugawa Onsen Kashobou Fukumatsu
See you again Kashobou!”
The location, the room size, the staff, the Onsen baths are all worthwhile to be mentioned. Feels good to stay there and the scenery from room is great, looking down the river and looking up the mountains. Evening stroll to the nearby bridge is really enjoyable.
The room is spacious. The view from the room is breathaking, the window frame a bit dirty. The bed pretty much comfy. I love how big the room is. I came in the summer, and I'm all alone in the Onsen. Tried the outdoor onsen once, It's small but it's good, and it's clean.
Good service, good location, clean room”
Owner was very nice. Location was good. Got free parking although we need to park our car next few streets however the staff will drive you back to the hotel. Room is clean. However, when we booked this ryokan, it didn't mention it was a shared bathroom room. So we didn't have our own bathroom. Fortunately, since it has an onsen, so we don't mind to take showers at the onsen.
This place is simply too old. I would’t recommand.
The family room size we gotten is very worth the price and size. You will never get such a size with this price compare to Tokyo. It can easily take up to 4 adults and still have a small living room. Just be aware that that there is no bathroom build inside the room. Need to use common bath area.
Great Hotel in a Sleepy town”
The staff/owner were very nice and informative. They even gift me a lift to the other side of town. The room was spacious and view from my room overlook the river & mountain. I would totally coming back next year.
beautiful onsen town ”
Onsen room was huge . room doesn't come with shower so you need to use the Onsen at level 2 to shower. Not a problem for me as I wanted to use the Onsen anyway. great view of the gorge from the room.
view would be wonderful in late autumn”
Loved it, real good value for money. True the place was a bit smoky and very old, but well maintained & clean. A real Japanese experience. Onsen was great although there were some bugs. Next time I might just stay there again to enjoy the outdoor onsen with a view. We didn't have any trouble during our stay but staff were overall friendly. Checkout time 10am is a tad bit too early, but I did have enough time for a second bath :)
Incredible value. inside and outside onsen.”
I took a 4 person Japanese style room for the cost of about 2 dorm beds. the room was big and had a view to the river. The 2 onsens included in the price (gender separated) were a really good way to spend my time there. (Open 6-10am inside, 4-11pm both). I even had ramen delivered to my room from a local restaurant for only 550 yen.
Nothing much on winter just Onsen and quiet bed need to make buy yourself amp room service no food just Onsen good but if summer might be good coz can c Sakura
Nice but dirty room”
Far away from Nikko (about 45 minutes by train), very dirty toilets, nice Japanese room et enjoyable onsen!
the price is cheap, the Ryokan is also clean and comfortable . looking forward to go to there again later if i travel to nikko next time !
Cheap but not really clean”
The hostel is nice, room is big but there is no bathroom and hot water at room. Staff cant speak English and the room is not really clean.
very nice hotel
using gas stove in the hallway is dangerous”
nice location,.,but affordable price,...i can recommend this place to relax and also the facilities for young children,if they stop using gas stove in every hallway,..i'm so offend during our check-inn for smelling gas.,why?i saw the leaking gas of the old one gas stove in front of elevator,.,so much scary,.,so dangerous,.,i don't know if i will turn off.! i can't feel ease until sleeping time,..that's why before i sleep i go to the lobby and turn off the gas stove and also the gas stove in front of our room,.,if i can suggest there's no need to use gas stove in the hallway,.,co'z there is a suffecient heater in the room,.,caution please ‼️
Definitely just a budget Japanese inn”
The lobby opens up to a fairly scenic view of a river and mountain, and nearby hotels. Despite some reviews I heard at least two employees speaking basic English to customers. The building is in pretty poor shape and at times I felt as though it was being held together with little more than duct tape. The air is filled with the scent of an unfortunate air freshener selection that I can only liken to the ones used in bathrooms. The floors beneath the hallway carpet are uneven and soft in spots and the wallpaper is in need of replacement. The room was spacious but poorly cleaned. The windows were dirty enough to obstruct the view and drinking glasses were covered in a layer of dust. The room had a toilet with a bidet and the public baths were separated by gender. The indoor bath area has a slightly foggy window with an otherwise unobstructed view of the mountain...and the same view of you to patrons of the hotel across the river. The outdoor bath area provides no cover.
Welcome in the 70ies”
The Hotel was build in the 70ies and since then newer renewed. A nice time travel trip if you like this. Strange rules and opening times for everything (including hot water). The Man Onsen was probably never cleaned after it was build.
Stay away from this hotel! Creepy + deserted”
Absolutely decrepit like much of the rest of Kinugawa onsen. It was clear that several floors of the hotel were decommissioned and only 1 of 2 elevators was still running. This marks the first time I've ever bailed out of a hotel less than 2 hours after checking in - it was that bad. Overall just creepy and deserted. The room itself is fine given the extremely low nightly rate, but looks like it hasn't been updated since the 80s. The public bath area is supposed to be nice, but I found it to be dark and dirty. There's a broken sauna that will likely never be open again, and a small outdoor poor that really doesn't afford much of a view. If you want a really interesting read on the growth and decline of Kinugawa Onsen as a tourist town, google "Kinugawa Onsen: You and me and the devil make three | Spike Japan".
Good only for Onsen”
five stars because they have outside and indoor Onsen, clean and nice Room was nice and big but toilet didn't work we'll so we had to use the one in the lobby which was not really clean Maybe stay here again only for price and onsen
