Lovely stay”
Great stay at Kisenso. We were welcomed by the staff and showed to our room. I booked the 'Japanese Style without Bathroom - Main Tower', however was pleasantly surprised that there was a connecting private toilet with a sink. The only showers are at the public and private onsen. The staff will give you a 20-30min time slot every day to use the private onsen. The room itself was simple and pleasant. They move the dining table and chairs to the side after dinner in order to lay out the futons to sleep on. In the morning, they pack up the futons again and move the dining table back to the middle of the room so you can have your breakfast there. Pros: - Private onsen was great, especially during the winter. - Short walk to Hakone Yumoto station which is very convenient and easy to lug a big suitcase to and from the station. Cons: - The walls are thin and we heard our neighbours having a good time in the middle of the night. - Food presentation was great and some dishes were nice, but I wasn't blown away by them. Overall a good stay at Kisenso.

Fantastic private onsen and meals!”
Kisenso is located about 10 minutes away from the Hakone-Yumuto station so it is not difficult to access provided that the location is known beforehand. The ryokan seemed a little short staffed as we waited close to 15 minutes upon entering to be served. Room was sufficiently spacious and quite comfortable for two. A WC is available in the room. Both dinner and breakfast were served in the room and was delicious. Best part about this place is the availability of a private onsen which is available all day provided that no other guests are using it.

Excellent Ryokan with Private Onsen”
Loved the delicately prepared dinner and breakfast (included in the half-board package), free 30-minute private onsen for each room, which was very enjoyable. The location is around 10 mins walk from Hakone Yumoto Station, so the ryokan is very convenient and well-connected. Warm and welcoming service from the staff, will definitely recommend to all travellers visiting Hakone!

A fantastic stay”
Kisenso is like 10 minutes walk from the Yumoto station. The room is so big and clean. The tatami is very comfortable. The dinner and breakfast are so good that there is a large variety of food. For the hot spring, the outdoor hot spring is so comfortable! And the indoor spring is also good. The staff are super helpful and friendly. All in all, an excellent hotel and we had a fantastic stay in Kisenso.

Value for Money ”
We enjoyed our stay at this place. The location is slightly above ten minutes walk from hakone-yumoto station, so take note if u have a lot of luggages like us. The food and room was ok for the price. Staff were friendly. Public bath was soso, but the private one (which we were given 30mins slot for) was good. Value for money for the price paid, as it was slightly below average compared to others in the area.

Relaxing and traditional experience”
We booked a Japanese style room, which include dinner and breakfast. The location was great, just an easy 10 min walk from Hakone-Yumoto station, and 5 mins walk to the bus stop. The staffs are very friendly and we have no problem communicating with them despite we don't speak Japanese. Room is clean, have access to wifi and we sleep on traditional tatami mats. The pillows are a bit hard if you're not accustomed to it. Meals were served to our room and they were strict on the meal time. We had 30 mins for private onsen, while the public onsen is available 24 hours.

Wonderful staying in Hakone”
We received a warm welcome even if we arrived two hours in advance. The room was very large, comfortable and clean, looking on the river. We were surprised by our first dinner for quality and quantity of food, all typical Japanese cuisine. Breakfast the following day was not less. Outdoor private onsen is available on booking for two people at a time, in a beautiful and relaxing zen garden. The staff was always kind and helpful but at the same time very discreet and made all the efforts to make our staying the most enjoyable possible. The landlady speaks English and a little bit of Italian, the staff speak some English or relay on small bookphrases to explain what's going to happen next. Overall our staying was excellent, we strongly recommend Kisenso ryokan.

onsen side trip from tokyo”
Satisfactory for my first time visitor to onsen/hotel. Kisenso is located a short 10 mins walk from the main train station, making it accessible and convenient to the numerous connecting buses that run through the Hakone area. The staff speaks limited english, so makes communication somewhat difficult if one does not speak japanese. They are nevertheless very helpful and friendly in trying to answer our queries and requests. The meals in the hotel have a very wide spread, decent tasting but nothing spectacular.

Awesome”
The service was awesome. Although we were late for dinner which was only between 6-630pm,they were still very nice and serve us after we miss the timing. Tips for traveller, the timing for meals are very strict hence do not be late as they need to serve you in your room individually. Love the people there and would definitely recommend anyone who will be visiting hakone

A nice stay.”
I had the chance to go to 2 different ryokans in Hakone. Pros : the food is quite good, however not amazing (compared to the other one) The room is big, and our reservation had a private onsen which was really nice. The bathtub room was a bit old. This whole experience seemed very traditional, they come to your room and serve you your diner, they make the bed in front of you, they take away your bed just before breakfast. Also the private onsen (not the one in your room, but the one they allow you 30 minutes to use) is very nice. Cons : the food was quite good, but not amazing. If you want the traditional experience, I highly recommend this. The private onsen (another room) and the private onsen in room (the package I bought) were very nice.

Interesting experience”
From hakone yumoto station, there is a shuttle bus to the hotel direct for 100 yen (bus A? enquire at the tourist center), about 5 min away. Every room comes with complimentary 30 mins private session at the small outdoor hot spring, but you need to check in early and book in advance. We checked in at 5pm and was given a 10pm time slot and we were already so tired by then. There is also no wifi in the room, only at the lobby. Meal timings are very strict, be prepared to wake up early (before 8am). Overall an interesting stay at a traditional Japanese inn.

Cute, traditional, lovely outdoor onsen”
Came here with a friend looking for the rustic / traditional experience and hot onsen. Nicely located with easy access to the train station. Very sweet staff to welcome us. Room was traditional mats with traditional japanese futons that they lay out after dinner... this was the sort of local experience we were looking for :). The outdoor onsen was lovely, amazing in fact! They allocate it so you get a good 45-60 minutes to yourselves. There is also a 24hr indoor one, and a small hot tub by your room! Traditional dinner was awesome (and bfast). So many little dishes that were very well presented. We were able to keep the bedroom warm, but stepping out to the bathroom or hall of our room was freeeeezing. They are very strict on the timing of everything like onsen, breakfast, dinner and bed making / removing, but I guess as a small place they need to be.

We have very nice stay”
Location is very near train station, within 10min walk. Staff can speak English, and very nice. There is a man always prepared for our shoes before we leave such a nice guesture. We have 40minprivate bath around 4pm and that is perfect give us enough time to wind down and dinner time is at 6:00am. Both dinner and breakfast have plenty of dishes and we cant stop surprise how they presented everything. Tatami is very clean and comfortable. We booked for shared bath but we do have toilet and face wash inside our room. That is more than enough for us, in the following morning u just need to get up by 7am and try with public bath only 1 more guest in public bath when i was there that morning, male & female are separated. Totally recommend very worth value of money, staff is so kind and hospitality.

The location is convenience. It took 10 mins walk from station to the hotel. Dinner, breakfast is o”
The hotspring is comfortable. The hotel booked a time 5:10-5:40pm for us in a private room to enjoy the hotspring. If not, you need to go to the public one anytime you like but separate into male and female. The staff are friendly but not good in English. They would come in 30 mins earlier to set the dinner and breakfast which we enjoyed in the hotel room. Nothing to do at night, since there is no night life around that area.
