Loved their welcome ritual! ”
Really felt super welcomed when we first arrived at the hotel. Had a team of staff who came to say hello, and we lit a candle as part of the "ritual" They also made really cute elephant towels displayed on our beds! Breakfast was great, room was clean. Generally enjoyed our one night stay there.
we had a nice stay for 1 night. the bedrooms have a nice view
Overall it was a good stay... ”
We had a marvelous stay at Kithala Resort, Yala, Sri Lanka. Wonderful staff, extremely friendly, provided us with very good service. We were always made sure of how the service was, whether it was pleasing and anything that the staff could offer to make our stay memorable. We must recommend the senior server (Bandhusena – as far as we can remember his name) who provided us with and outstanding service by his energy, smile and warm hand of service. It was extremely warm the time we visited Sri Lanka and we preferred staying in the pool for long hours. The hotel manager was very kind. Even with the set times given for the pool, they let us stay there for longer and served us with hot and cold beverages to the pool. The food that was served was enticing and were served at the means of us. The room was comfortable with good quality room service provided. We had a peaceful and joyful stay!!! Until next time….
Facilities fine; room cleanness needs to be improved ”
The hotel facilities are not bad, rooms open to the paddy field, big pool right at the centre of the courtyard. But cleanness was a concern. I'm not 100% sure the bedsheets and pillow cases are new since I saw some stains under the yellow room light and the pillow cases were wrinkled before anyone touch it. Meals are very expensive. Takeaway breakfast consisting of a simple sandwich, an orange, a boxed drink and a bottled water was sold at LKR 950 (USD 6.5). Staff are quite friendly but their English is at times not good enough to serve international tourists.
We stayed the night here after a major mix up with our booked accommodation. The staff were so helpful and attentive, and turned a frustrating experience around with their excellent service and determination to give us an enjoyable stay. The food was excellent - we ate like kings.
Highly recommended- Beautiful and ideal for Yala”
We arrived early evening after from Hill country after climbing Adam's Peak (we did the 1am set off - so yes, a great, yet long day!) To be warmly greeted with cooling fruit cocktails, whilst we settled into the comfortable reception seating all felt wonderfully luxurious. Our room was spacious, beautifully lit and being on the ground floor we were lucky to have doors opening onto the gardens. The bathroom was spacious with a shower that had great water pressure and helped ease the legs after our climb. Dinner was elegant buffet style with a wide section of quality food to suit all tastes and appetites. We enjoyed freshly grilled fish from the patio BBQ grill and loved our garden table, poolside, surrounded by twinkling garden lights and candle-light- Fabulous! By morning the tranquil natural environment was further revealed as we looked out to see the frangipani trees in the garden, bird life and grassland beyond. We sadly didn't have time to use the pool which looked very inviting with wooden sun loungers, well placed by the shade of trees. A very comfortable albeit brief stay ahead of a luxury camping trip at Yala. Thank you.
Beautiful resort in a beautiful location!”
We loved staying at this resort. It is not too far away from the main part of town, but feels completely secluded and sits on beautiful land. I would highly recommend it and would have loved to stay longer than one night.
A good hotel to stay in if visiting Yala”
A nice stay, with friendly staff. All areas of the hotel were very clean. check what the buffet has on offer before choosing to eat from it. Although the the food was very nice sometimes the combinations of food on offer didn't really compliment each other.
Beautiful hotel and great views ”
This hotel was beautiful from the foyer to the rooms. The bed was comfortable and the views from the room were gorgeous. The room backed onto the pool, which overlooked rice paddies. I would have liked to stay here longer. The wifi is weak at best in the rooms though. The dinner service is relatively expensive, about $15, compared to what you can get elsewhere. My biggest complaint though was that I booked and paid for a three person room, but when only two people checked in they gave us a two person room. I was not refunded the difference either. Not a major issue, but it is a poor form.
We were very happy with our room. Staff were excellent. Breakfast served at table offered a great selection of food. Coffee average. They said wifi only worked in lobby but we had wifi in the room. We were only staying in standard hotels around the country that offered accommodation to our driver. This hotel was a lot more expensive but worth it.
We had a comfortable modern room overlooking the pool, pond and paddy fields. From the balcony I took some photos of kingfishers and herons at the pond, a bird watcher's paradise. The buffet in the evening catered for all with a wide choice of western, Sri Lankan and even Chinese food (there was a group of chinese tourists). The dail was particularly good! The only problem was the A/C was too cold despite trying to up the temperature!
Our stay at Priyankara was just one night as our stop for Yala Narional Park safari. Fortunately, the evening safari got jeopardized due to some festival and we got to enjoy the hotel. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been able to. The surroundings are beautiful, lush paddy fields. The hotel has a small pond with ducks and geese swimming around and a lush green lawn. Comfortable day beds by the pool make you want to kick back and relax. Nice, clean functional pool that kids can play around in. Excellent buffet dinner. The maintenece staff is slow to react, as the blind on our window was broken when we checked in. It took reporting to 4 different people and 3 hours to get it fixed. All rooms have beautiful small balconies overlooking the pool and paddy field. Honestly, the pictures don't do it justice. It's a lot more beautiful when you're actually there.
Nice base for Yala”
This is quite anice base to stay in for the Yala Safari. Key points below Resort - A nice setting with a large garden, swimming pool and ducks and geese running around (by daughter just loveed it). Room - Quite comfortable and large although the layout was a bit odd Food - Nice packed breakfast packets for the Safari at 5 am. The dinner was also good (though a bit expensive). All in all - i would give it 4 out of 5
Great stop for entering Yala park”
We enjoyed our stay, nice swimming pool, great buffet dining, overall a place to relax. We didnt like the fact that we had to wait for our breakfast package at 5 am, because they forgot we were leaving for the safari (several other guests had the same problem), this should be better organised!
Hotel Rooms are facing and sourranded by a very natural soothing green environment. Very friendly staff.
Great facility and room, definitely value for money”
This is best stay I have in Sri Lanka (I choose hotels 80-110 USD per night there).
I was given room 220 at the old wing. I booked a double room but room 220 has 3 beds. The room was very very dirty + dusty and we were bitten by many mosquitoes. I killed 3 of them using my bare hands. Beds only had thin bed sheets. I believe the hotel pictures shown above are in the new ring. We locked our door and went check out the pool. When we came back 10 mins later, the door was wide opened. We checked with the staff immediately and they failed to give us a proper explanation. Luckily all the valuables were in place. We told the manager that we needed to leave the hotel at 4:30am for Yala safari. They said they will prepare our breakfast and give it to us at 4:30am. However, they made a mistake and forgot to prepare. So my gf and I were starving during the whole safari journey. When we came back at noon, the staff was kind to offer us free lunch. We ordered 2 cokes and I found out they did charge us for that.
Rooms at Old wing”
I was given room 221 at the old wing. I booked for a double room with a double bed. But I was offered a 3 bed room. The room was clean. But, first impression given by the male receptionist was not friendly or welcoming. I was asked to wait for some time. But when I objected they gave the room straight away. The room window could not be locked. The air conditioner worked but the temperature could not be controlled. Airconditioner made us feel very cold and we have to switch it off and sleep with the windows open. Obviously we were bitten by many mosquitoes. Beds had only bed sheets, there is nothing to cover you if you felt cold. The free wifi connection was extremely slow. The hotel should not have accepted the bookings if they cannot give a descent room. The room shown in the pictures are in the new wing and the room offered to me was different.
Nice aspect hotel, impersonal service”
Stayed here while visiting Yala National Park. The hotel is lovely, great rooms and nice aspect view overlooking the paddy fields. Unfortunately the service was impersonal which let the experience down.
Awful for independent travellers”
First, Agoda should be aware that this property has hidden charges for chauffeurs or drivers accompanying guests. This charge of Rs 1500 was demanded at check-in. Further, we were told that this charge applies only to online bookings. After agreeing to pay this unexpected fee our chauffeur was kept waiting for 1 hour after which point they said that they couldn't accomdate him because they were apparently full. How can the chauffers accomodation be available when we agree to pay the fee and be mysteriously unavailable after 1 hour? I had to demand a meeting with the Manager to get them to sort this out - at a cost to us to provide a roof for the night for the chauffeur. A property calling themselves a 'resort' in countries that require chauffeurs as part of travel should have alternatives in place if they know they are overbooked. The staff at the front office were pitiful, perhaps because they get so badly remunerated. How many 'resorts' in this world do you know where the most visible item at the checkin counter is a massive staff tip box? This in a 'resort' that already has a 10% service charge on the whole bill. As a seasoned global traveller I have only seen such tip boxes at budget properties who do not levy a service charge. Room 106 which we were allocated had human hair on the bathroom floor. The shower area was dripping wet. It looked as if they had forgotten to clean it. We observed these as soon as we checked in and informed the guest relations person who took us to the room. However, it was never attended to during our entire stay. Avoid this property if you are an independent traveller. There are some terrific properties with far superior service and value for money in the neighbourhood.
