The best place to be at Kep”
Situated near the crab market and the National Park. The restaurant at the Sailing Club on the beach and super tasty food with good price. Architecture very simple and elegant. Breakfast delicious. The place to be is you search a calm place to rest. Possibility to rent a motorbike at the crab market.
paper straws and sunshine”
stopped here recently. right next to the sea - but no real beach although a lovely pool area. beautiful breakfasts, close to the crab market. uses paper straws, but the philosophy is a bit hit and miss. however the staff are really helpful. an excellent visit
Stunning gardens but poor service”
Beautiful location and a stunning pool. However, this is sadly far from a 5-star experience. Our room was tired and more like a 3-star lodge. Service at breakfast was appalling - 20 minutes for the table to be cleaned after previous guests; 30 minutes for a coffee and almost 40 minutes for a cold pancake to be served. Very disappointed - this resort could be amazing, but the service and lack of room renovation leaves a lot to be desired.
Best place to stay in Cambodia”
I have lived in Cambodia for 5 years and this is the first time I have stayed at Knai Bang Chatt. Now I'm about to leave and I regret that 100%. It is bar far the best place in Cambodia to stay. It's a retreat to recharge the batteries, eat great food in beautiful surroundings. The spa was amazing. I had a massage and facial. Both were fabulous and I felt very revived afterwards. Breakfast was delicious. Had fruit, bread, cheeses and fresh juice in a buffet style. Then you could order from a menu for eggs, bacon etc. They even had a noddle station. You are a walk through a gate to the sailing club which also has amazing food.
This place was beyond expectations for sure. Not only is it very focused on sustainability— no “disposable” plastic being used, homegrown vegetables utilized in their on site restaurants, etc, it happens to have excellent, friendly, attentive staff, beautiful grounds, rooms and a salt water pool. It’s quiet and incredibly lovely, situated within walking distance to the park. They also have a wonderful tour of the crab market and old mansions; our guide was Kim who was fantastic!! I would love to visit again :)
Beautiful place - but expensive”
This is a great hotel set in wonderful gardens with great facilities [although no gym] and really nice rooms and great staff. If it were not so expensive I would stay here more often :-)
Great location and ideal for couples romantic surroundings”
They have complimentary morning Yoga and nature walk, provided you register before 5pm the day before. The food is great of quality and delicious. Staff is dedicated in getting to know the guests and make them comfortable. The Sailing club is also well organized and are professional in ensuring safety for the outdoor activities including kayaking.
Knai Bang Chatt is set on a beautiful piece of property overlooking the Sea of Thailand. The rooms are large and comfortable and housed in 1960s style buildings. The pool is salt water, which someone people like since it's better for your skin, but I find that it doesn't kill the algae and parts of the pool floor were slimy. The food at both The Sailing Club and The Strand is delicious and very inexpensive. My biggest complaint about the resort is the restaurant staff. They are really lackadaisical in their service. When I sat down for breakfast on all three days, no one came over to offer me coffee or take my order. It was unclear whether you had to go up to the counter to give your order or wait for someone to take it. I noticed they took the orders for some guests, but not me. Also, they didn't refill or offer more coffee and weren't very friendly. The same thing happened at The Sailing Club. I walked into the restaurant and stood there not sure where to go while staff member after staff member just walked by me without even saying hello. The rest of the hotel staff were great. The front desk manager was friendly and kind as were the people who came to clean the room. It was just the restaurant staff that seemed not to really care. It's a shame, because the food is delicious, as are the drinks.
Maybe the best hotel in the world. No, seriously.”
There are destinations and there are hotels, and then there are destination hotels. This hotel is a destination unto itself. If/when we go back to Cambodia, we are going to come here and stay here the WHOLE time and not leave. We actually tried to extend our stay here, but unfortunately, they were booked. The only other hotel that we have ever loved this much was Olympus Lodge in Turkey. Anyway, the bottom line is that if you are looking at this hotel, then let me do you a favor and help you make up your mind: STAY HERE.
Beautiful hotel in peaceful Kep”
The hotel is incredibly beautiful and serene and our room was extremely nice. We enjoyed the pool and breakfast overlooking the ocean very much. Our stay was marred a little bit by the poor service-- the restaurant is very very slow-- our lunch took over an hour to come. We asked for a packed breakfast (just bread and fruit!) for a day trip and it simply didn't get made (the staff just shrugged), things of this type. An extra spa treatment was added to our bill which fortunately we noticed. In a less expensive hotel we would ignore it but for a "five star" with European staff and prices to match it was a bit frustrating. That said the food was delicious and the hotel is so relaxing we still had a great stay overall!
Beautiful location, great architecture”
Very very pleasant. Great location: easy to just walk from the Crab Market to the Sailing Club. Rooms have beautiful furniture, pool area is great, staff is attentive and very helpful. Having breakfast in the wonderful Strand is just great. Don't miss the heavenly fresh seafood spring rolls for lunch!
A great deal on Agoda”
We paid approximately US$50 for garden view rooms, which is a sensational price for such a luxurious property, which could cost $200 per night. Each room is different and contains individual pieces of vintage furniture, so it is a gamble as to what your room will be. We paid extra for a seaview room but our friends in the garden view room had a better view of the sea, so don't bother with the 'seaview' which just means it is upstairs. Unfortunately like many very stylish properties, 'designer' is more important than good design. For example our room had no full length mirror and the only mirror was behind the deep bathroom basin, which was useless. The furniture was more lovely than comfortable and convenient. However it was all very pretty and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are way to stylish to have a television but there is a large one in the library room which also has a nice big table for a hand of cards. The real delights are the gardens and pool and the excellent drinking and dining at the Sailing Club next door. Careful with those two for one cocktails at happy hour! There is an upmarket restaurant on site called The Strand where the food is good and of course stylish, and the service will probably improve as the staff gain experience. Obviously do not book any tours or travel arrangements at an expensive property like this. There are plenty of travel agents at Kep Beach. The Crab Market is next door to the Resort and the walk into Kep Beach is a pleasant one.
Quiet, Location, Clean”
2nd stay at this hotel, this time we stayed in the new section which is very nice and a large bath in the room however I liked the history of the hotel so building a new wing it takes a bit away from that also increasing the number of guests able to stay at the resort. Very good staff with excellent English . Dinner at the sailing club was a very big let down for the price and the food was not very good. Bad internet in new building also.
Getting away from it all”
The resort lived up to it's name it's kep that missed the mark. We found the resort to be very relaxing and just what we needed after a busy trip around Asia. However kep did not have the type of beaches we were looking for. We went in July and were told it might be because of the currents. Other than that great resort. The sailing club next door is delicious.
Loved this place”
Comfortable, stylish and classy. Good food. Lovely pool, Everything is really well done. Sweet staff- making your self understood can be a little tricky at times. Sailing Club bar and restaurant next door (same owner) is great and gives a bit of variance for places to eat and hang out. Local Crab restaurants and market 5 mins walk in the other direction . WiFi & internet connection which is lousy. On the pricey side, but would definitely go back.
Everything one could need, and nothing extraneous. Simplicity at its most luxurious. Thoughtful, elegant and comfortable. Bliss.
Great bones to this place but a little tired ”
The sAiling club next door is the highlight of this hotel - my room #13 was an oceanview - it needs a makeover - and the bed virtually on the floor was a challenge to get in and out of - take note if you're on the other side of 60.
A Haven of tranquillity!”
We loved every minute of our stay - luxurious days of rest and rejuvenation. The quiet attentiveness of staff, stunning views from our room, lunches by the pool and beach side dinners with the tidal lull of water....perfect in every way!
Simply an excellent resort on the Gujlf of Thailand. Beautful setting! Adjacent (and affiliated) Sailing Club offers a variety of aquatic sport options for the adventurous, as well as another bar and restaurant. Excellent cuisine, reasonable prices. One caveat is the challenge of access from Kampot without your own vehicle. We came via train to Kampot and there were no taxis as the station, leaving us to about a 45 minute dusty ride by tuk tuk. Perhaps a taxi could be arranged by the resort upon request.
We had 2 nights here at the end of a fantastic fornight in Cambodia, to indulge in a little luxury and it did not disappoint! Beautiful hotel and grounds, wonderful staff and the best location to witness the stunning sunsets. The spa is great and I had one of the best massages I've had in a while. Lovely place to relax and do very little or there is the option to visit the national park which is very close. Only downside is we were quoted $88 USD from the hotel for a private car to Phnom Penh but just at the roundabout on the main road we found a wonderful shop/laundry who arranged our transfer for $45 USD, almost half of the price and both car and driver were excellent. Overall great though and we would love to return.
