Stay here often
Location, Price
I stay here often; good value for money and a great pizza shop just around the corner to the south - I think I stay here just to go and eat the pizza :)

Getaway
Close enough to downtown . Affordable parking. Clean rooms and clean linen.
Good place to hang out for a couple of days and enjoy the downtown perks. Was some rowdy people but they will in the basement. We were given a quite room upstairs. I guess the cost was the overruling factor for this hotel and the rest is should be acceptable.

Knights Inn Downtown Toronto
it was awful. only good thing is the location.
we stayed for 2 nights and had a terrible time. the only good thing is the location in downtown toronto. negatives: - after the second night i had bites all over me and we saw bed bugs in the seams. - our door had clearly been kicked in at some point as it didn't fit the frame. - room wasn't clean with a lot of dust under the bed. - breakfast was awful. frozen cheap bread provided for toast, what tasted like tang instead of orange juice, and limited other choices. it was very carb heavy and everything tasted like the cheapest ingredients. - no supplies in the room, no travel toothpaste/razor etc - 3 pillows supplied for 2 people - loud, rickety air con unit - most tv channels didn't work - blinds that did no good at blocking the light in the morning - we heard loud yelling and talking most of the night - staff were so-so - absolute rip off for what's provided and above all bed bugs.

very basic conditions but helpful receptions
helpful reception, convenient location, quiet neighbourhood
fine bujt would have preferred a higher standard of cleanliness and more amenities (functioning internet, phone in room, cleaning service NOT upon request only)

They must be doing something right
Location, price, staff
I arrived at the Knights Inn before noon and tried to get an early check-in but there were no empty rooms; and when I tried to reserve a room for the day I was to return to Toronto, it was fully booked. Any hotel with this kind of occupancy rate is doing something right and the location (next to Downtown without the Downtown prices) must be a big part of it. The staff were also great, getting my room for me as quickly as possible after the previous occupant checked out, giving me a free breakfast and letting me use the facilities including the office computer and the garden. When I was there, it was full of young backpackers, which seems weird for a motel-style place, so I guess it really must be good value.
