This is not the hotel I booked... we spent double and booked another hotel for the evening”

My husband and I booked the Yotel through Agoda which we were very excited about for a special night in the city. When I pulled up the reservation on Friday, 2/22/19 as we were heading into the city I discovered that Agoda, a 3rd party booking company, booked the wrong hotel. They booked the FLATIRON which I never even considered as it wasn't anywhere near what we were looking for or the location of our evening. When I was told there was no cancellation we decided to take our chances and check in as we had already paid for it. When we arrived it was vacant with no life. The gentleman at the front desk was nice but very unprofessional and very spaced out and confused. When we got to our room we were disgusted. We travel for work often and stay in A LOT of hotels and this was by far the worst we have ever seen. It was dirty, there was broken walls and spackling all over and there was no chance I would have considered getting in that bed let alone walking on the floor with no shoes

Did not have any of the amenities that was stated online. Like restaurant or bar. When asking the morning shift for towels or anything you never get it. If you wait to ask afternoon shift you get it. Heat is controlled by the hotel we turned it all the way down to 60 and it was still almost 80 in our room we sweated the whole time. Shower door leaked all over maintenance never came to look at it called 3x. Mirror in bathroom has tv didn’t work, remote in main room only worked if you were in one spot of room. Drywall spackle all over the window seal. Draft coming through windows. Day shift front desk very rude. When asking for ice they have to deliver you can’t get it on your own. Free water means two free bottles upon arrival. Rooms are so tiny the should only be for two people and one bed. States valet parking which is 4 blocks away you have to take your car to and walk back then it’s $40 a night and they don’t specify that on their sight either rip off.

The basics”

My true answer to “would I recommend” would be “it depends”. You get what you need. A bed, a shower, a toilet. It’s clear some corners are cut which in turn helps us save money. For example the mattresses sit upon a platform clearly assembled with common wood and painted black. Not to diminish the effort, but again this approach saves you money. For a business traveler, it’s good for a quick night. For a budget travelled, it’s a good option in a good location. However, i would look to Pod or other similar NY budget properties first.

The worst stay I’ve ever had. ”

1. Online it says there is a bar and restaurant - There is not. 2. the mattress was HORRIBLE 3. The TV was broken and had a line through it 4. The Lobby, it's in horrible shape (you should let people know about that, website very misleading) 5. THE CENTRAL AIR/HEAT IN YOUR BUILDING IS BROKEN 6. I called twice to complain that my room was 76 degrees and my air was not working. The second time I called I asked for a tech to come up and look at it and asked if there was a known problem. The man at the front desk told me there were no known issues. And someone would be right up to take a look 7. I called again an hour after he said he'd send someone up (close to midnight!!!!) and the woman working the desk apologized and told me she just came on but there was no tech that was working and that there was an issue with the whole building and a tech would be coming over night. 8. Because my room was so HOT I opened the window, after I opened it a green sludge started pouring down the window

Absolutely the worst hotel I have ever been in New York. Noisy, dirty, and not accomodating.”

I couldn't sleep, because there are drunk people yelling outside - and I could hear every single words they are saying since no sound was being blocked. The room was small and quite shabby. And, this hotel is the very first hotel that wouldn't store our luggage for like few hours just so that we had to drag around our luggages and simply grabbing a lunch became a huge hassle. I will never ever book this hotel again.

If I wanted a flood I would have stayed in Florida”

Walked into an 83 degree room with a wet floor. I told the staff about it numerous times and they said they would fix it. They put a towel on the floor...which turned brown with mold and did nothing else. Absolute waste of money and honestly, a possible health hazard.

Location was great and the room was clean with sufficient space. Wifi connection was really poor. I had hard time even for opening a single website.

Great location, tired hotel”

The staff was extremely helpful, responsive and friendly. The room (Toshi Suite) overlooks broadway and 26th st. I needed 2 queen beds so had to get the suite. Great location near Chelsea, Madison Square, Koreatown. Hotel itself was underwhelming. No grab bars in tub/ shower, nowhere to hang towels. Breakfast included in $19 resort fee is bagels, cereal, muffins, coffee, oj. I think the hotel is under new ownership and hopefully will update the decor which is very tired. Lobby band was energetic. If I had paid for a lesser room, I would feel like I got value, but since I paid top dollar for the suite, I don't think it was worth it. My bill for 4 nights in October was just over $1700.

Our stay was excellent at the Flatiron Hotel! The room was clean and comfy, and the staff was very attentive and friendly. We were amazed by the remote-controlled curtains and the TV inset in the mirror in the bathroom!

do not use the agoda web site to book reservations for this hotel they charge a foreign transaction fee on your charge card, although my reservations were made in NY and the hotel is in NY in the process of disputing the bill frustrating

Flatiron hotel - comfort just like your own home”

Great stay we enjoyed the whole experience.. The rooms were furnished well . Housekeeping was excellent ..the theme of toshi and ponzu made the experience homely . ( keep these please) none of the big hilton blank vacant -ness ... You have some unique... Good heating / air con.. Will recommend

Never Again!”

Check in took 15 minutes because they said they didn't have my reservation. The management put a $100 hold on my debit card for incidentals, that took me a week to have released. They have a mini bar that works with sensors and timers. If you move something or inspect an item, you will be charged after 20 seconds. The charge includes tax and a 20% service charge. Although the hotel was clean and comfortable, I will never return.

I was welcomed by very nice and friendly staff at the reception who immediately made the effort of making me feel a valued guest. I got a quiet room and was later welcomed by the Manager of the hotel, which was very nice. The curtains in the rooms open and close by push of a button and there is a tv built in bathroom mirror which makes washing a lot more fun.

An average stay in Mid-Town”

I'm not sure what this hotel is striving to achieve--we stayed in the Madison Double which was a large room with high ceilings, crown moldings and huge windows (one which actually opened, which was refreshing). Bathroom was extremely tiny with shower only; however, the shower was excellent with 6 heads and rain shower fixture overhead. Carpeting was extremely dirty; maybe we got the pet-friendly room? Slippers are required wearing. Do not touch the drinks in the refrigerator or the snack bar, as you will be charged automatically. You can rent a refrigerator for a $10 charge. A coffee maker is available, but if you drink tea, bring your own teabags. The WiFi connection was excellent. There is no room or turn-down service; in fact, there is no food available within the hotel, which is rather strange if the Flatiron is striving to be a world-class hotel. However, the neighborhood is first-rate for locating good food to eat. Madison Square Park is 2 blocks away and a lovely respite from the hustle of the City. Subway lines are close by (1, N, R, 6).

We had a lovely stay at the Flatiron Hotel. Rooms were large enough for 4 girls to share. Staff were very friendly & Devon the doorman could not have been more helpful with hints & tips of things to do in New York!
