위치가 좋고 직원들이 친절해요”
직원들이 친절합니다. 서부에서 동부로 이동하여 오전 9시쯤 호텔에 도착하였습니다. 피곤하기도 하고 씻고 싶기도 하여 얼리 체크인 가능 여부를 확인 하였는데 방이 준비되면 연락해주겠다하여 기다리고 있었습니다. 다행히 금방 룸이 준비되어 추가 요금없이 오전 10시쯤 체크인하여 쉴 수 있었습니다. 시설 자체는 오래되었으나 룸이 넓어 쾌적하였습니다. 또한 숙박객을 위해 요거트, 시리얼 및 사과가 준비되어 있어 매일 아침 이용하였습니다.

Character Midtown Hotel in Convenient Location”
I would stay here again. This character-filled 16-floor hotel is in an older building so things like bathroom tile and tub are not perfect, but it is clean and comfortable. It is conveniently located to Grand Central Station, interesting independent shops and restaurants (not just chain stores) and near the Canadian embassy, Commonwealth building, a 15-minute walk to the United Nations. The apples, granola and very good yogurt were a bonus. The airport bus from Newark airport to Grand Central took about an hour and then it was just a 5-min walk to the hotel.

All fine but some very loud noise from the early morning until the late afternoon as the room above was being refurbished. The hotel did not inform us in advance or advise us of how long it would endure or seek to remedy. This spoiled our stay.

I was there one night. Key cards did not work twice. Hard to manage the climate in the room, the blower kept going on and off. But it’s a nice boutique feel. The 16th floor outdoor bar is pretty cool.

Good Location”
I would recommend the hotel for its excellent location. I have just one negative comment that we were surprised by the hotel at the end of our stay that we had to pay $25 per head every day during our stay for the facilities (example gym) that we had zero intentions in using, this included my 86 years old grandmother.

Charming old style hotel in NYC”
I chose the Roger Smith for both the great value Agoda offered and the location (which turned out to be even better than I thought). The hotel is very close to the E line subway stop at 53rd and Lexington (which I took from JFK, Airtrain to E line) and Grand Central Station. I walked everywhere from the hotel and loved it. The hotel staff were very helpful, friendly, and kind. There were free apples, greek yogurt, and granola in the lobby. My room was charming, spacious and clean and decorated with classic old style American furniture so it felt less institutional. It was equipped with a TV (and DVD player), empty fridge, coffee/tea maker and plenty of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. There were places to eat close by. I had a wonderful stay for 5 days.

The hotel is very well located within Midtown Manhattan. Walking distance to important locations. Room was spacious and comfortable with a nice bed and pillows. Hotel staff is very friendly and very much client-oriented.

Good enough for family ”
We arrived in New York at Thanksgiving. Compare to other hotel in the mid-town, this hotel had better price. Although the location isn’t directly in front of the street of thanksgiving parade route, we only needed few block away for reaching the location. This is why we choose this hotel beside the price. We booked suite room. Enough for our family (5 people). Some furnitures and the rug are already outdated, in the future will need to be upgraded. In general, we were very pleased to stay in this hotel because the staffs were very polite and helpfull.

Excellent gem of a hotel”
The location is perfect and away from the noise but close enough to Grand ,Central so you can get anywhere. It’s very quaint or as some reviews read ‘out dated’ - to me it’s full of character. Apples, grenola and yogurt available in reception 24 hours a day. Never a wait for the lift to/from our room. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Powerful shower and plenty of hot water. WiFi works everywhere in the building and never let you down. We visited the roof top bar on our first night which was lovely but my daughter didn’t turn 21 till the following day so we didn’t stay. Prices were about the same for cocktails as anywhere else (therefore expensive) but we didn’t find time to return and enjoy the views. Room service came daily. Book a car from reception to JFK for return journey. Lovely car and felt safer than a taxi plus only $70 plus tip - almost same price for taxi with toll and tax. Better to travel in luxury. Highly recommend this hotel and would return.

Extremely noisy air conditioner, which at one point was putting out hot air. Bathroom very poorly cleaned. Publicized European breakfast, but only had Greek Yogurt and granola. Old hotel, needs refurbishing.

mediocre hotel 30 years ago”
You usually get what you pay for, but for $300 a night you can do much better in the area. This hotel has had zero upkeep in at least 30 years. Walls are cracked, room had a musty smell, carpets had cigarette burns and big stains, bed was creaky. The card system is so antiquated that if the card touches your cellphone it will stop working, which happened to me several times. I come to Manhattan a lot for business and try to stay around Grand Central, I will absolutely be avoiding this hotel.
