Unbeatable location and incredible pool view”
We loved our stay at this resort. The location was on the quieter but more beautiful side of Koh Mak. A little remote and a couple of steep hills, so you need a scooter if you have young kids. The pool is incredible with the most beautiful view of the bay and Koh Kham. There is a lovely pier from where you can snorkel. Great for kids as the water is shallow with lots of sea life. Tiny little beach. Buffet breakfast has a good variety and is very filling with both thai and western options The food at the restaurant is very expensive though so we only ate there the first night. We stayed in Baan Rimsra room which was cozy but big enough for the three of us. They even provided a free bed for the little one. Air con is great and towels and cleaning service daily. Staff knowledgeable and very friendly. They even organized free transfers from our other hotel and to our boat. We would definitely return to Cococape!!
I love the atmosphere at Koh Mak Cococape. I booked Boat Suit for me and my friend, the boat so clean, large, full facilities that woman need and air-condition are fresh air and pretty cold. The boat suit have 1 part of bath room!! There're so amazing!! It unexpected that this room type will had! The bath room, have 2 toilets one for men (So safe smell) and one for woman and they have space for shower and big surprise that they have 1 jacuzzi!!!! So lovely!! And the bath room look like one big room! And we have terrace for our sunrise view!! So nice if you go with your girl/boy friend. The place have pool and slide for everyone. The special thing is the have 150 meters wood bridge!! With super great bra!! We go dinner there (but you have to take care your dish, by take it from the restaurant) But I stunning with the poor operator! She had sucking speeches with her customer even we order our lunch from her restaurant! But another staff so cute so nice and very very kindness. I love you, Cococape!!! ❤️ And I promised that I will come back once upon a time!
My favorite hotel”
Koh Mak cococepe resort was even better than I had expected. My best friend and I went to Koh Mak in Trat province from 3 to 6 June 2016. This resort was located in the southern part of Koh Mak. The resort had varieties of building DESIGNS and they had a beautiful pool for GUESTS. However, the resort’s restaurant was PRETTY expensive. I would strongly advise you to go FOR street food or traditional markets near the resort. In spite of this, we had a great time at this resort because we can also PLAY water sports such as diving, snorkeling, and kayak. We can ENJOY relaxation activities like going to massage, sunbathing on the beach, or drinking at the bar. Moreover, the resort STAFF were very friendly. It was one of the best resorts I have ever stayed. Don't miss the opportunity to stay here.
We stayed at Moonlight room. Room were comfortable and cozy with bunkbed and big sofa. Big bathroom and big space for store your luggages. In front of the room is hammock and chair, were cozy to sit/lay down to relax. There are little beach here, not super view but nice to swim and snorkeling. Also at the pier! Excellent place to snorkeling. Staffs are really nice and friendly. This resort has everything you need. Good food and not so expensive at their seaside restuarant. And the bar at the pier has amazing view! They provide Taxi, rent motorbike, boat trip or kayak if you need! And if you would like to go out without taxi or motorbike, it's walkable distance to walking street that has many more restuarants, bars and minimart. We recommend Koh Mak art house if you like to drink in cozy atmosphere! One thing we didn't like so much is resort is really quiet at night and some guests made loud noise like turn on their speaker! that all resort can hear and staffs said nothing to them!
Great place to stay on Koh Mak”
Loved my stay here. The room was spacious and clean, the beach was right in sight, there was a nice pier to walk on with a bar at the end, and the swimming was great. Room was close to perfect, just a super rusty pipe from the hot water heater stuck out to me as needing to be replaced. The restaurant was a little overpriced, especially breakfast, but the food was pretty good. I'll be happy to go back to Cococape next time I go to Koh Mak.
Smile, Sea, Sun and relax atmosphere at this hotel”
We stayed 3 nights in Bamboola room (nice to have been upgraded at arrival). We appreciated a lot the atmosphere in natural luxurious environment with many different types of accommodation (very good mattress, all furniture provided: ex pool towels, umbrella...). Very nice pool with seaview. Wonderful pier with an access to the sea, deckchairs and great place to watch the sunset with a drink. Just think to check your bill at the restaurant where the food is great but seafood were not always available (other great seafood restaurant, probably the best on the island, is Koh Mak seafood located close to Ao Nid Pier, need a motorbike to go there: worth to try). Staff and managers are very kind and can help you and answer your needs (book boat ticket: speed boat and catamaran to arrive and leave the island). Great massage at the pool and good cocktails. Motorbike renting possible at the resort: great to travel on the island. We had one hour free kayaking per day as well as free pick up on arrival and departure.
This was actually my third time at the Koh Mak Cococape Resort (I stayed at Cococape as well in 2013 and 2015). I can say that it was probably our last visit at this resort. Before I used to love this resort. Everything was just perfect. Therefore I kept returning here. However this last visit in Feb 2016 was big disappointment. There wasn't done any maintenance or any reconstruction of the resort since my first visit in 2013. The jacuzzi in the bathroom is rusty and looks dirty, the wooden exterior of the Suite boat where we stayed was falling apart. We couldn't properly close the window shutters so there was lots of sun light since early morning so we used bed sheets to cover the windows. Moreover in one window there is just a glassy window shutter and we were not able to close it completely so the insect was able to get inside the room. What I would appreciate that our room had solar panels on the roof so even though whole islands Koh Kood and Koh Mak were cut out of electricity our AC was still working. On the other hand we caught the WIFI in our room just sometimes. I would expect a room for 3500 baht to have stable WIFI signal. We were very unfortunate that the wooden pier with the Blue Pearl Bar was out of order because there were 2-3 meters high waves about a week before our arrival and the waves have smashed part of the pier. Actually it was advantage for us as we stayed at the Suite boat right next to the pier and we had more privacy thanks to this. However, I would expect more effort on fixing it. Seriously 2 workers is not enough. And lastly I have to say that Cococape lost the biggest advantage they used to have even though it's not their fault. During my previous stays I loved the snorkelling either right at the pier or at the nearby islands Koh Phi or Koh Kham. The corrals used to be very colourful and there were also plenty of fish. However, nowadays the corrals are dead and it is even quite rare to spot a school of fish.
Very nice hotel with great location. Had not booked any transfer, but when arriving koh mak their driver just stood there waiting for me, simple. Had loots of scooters which were good and best way to explore the island. Staff were sometimes a bit lazy but it seems to be like that both on koh mak/koh Kood all over actually. Not like the Thai friendliness unfortunately. But overall a very nice stay.
very nice Hotel. Beautifull pool but die sand beach is little bit to walk”
Very nice Hotel for travel with Children. Nice smal garden with good Restaurant. Staff always nice and symphatik. We travel with Family 2 adult and 2 Boys 6 and 8 years. The nice smal pool was perfekt to relax after Shopping and visiting Koh Mak. The sun set at the afternoon from the blue Pearl bar was fantastic. We will come back, soon.
This resort was nice, the breakfast was great, bar on the pier, nice pool, very nice staff, rooms were cleaned and big, the wifi was a little bit slow in further bungalows but in total it was worth it. The location was also great, but the beaches were big disappointment on entire Koh Mak. Dirty, shallow in long distance from the beach, mud and stones, plants...Back to the resort. Services were good but expensive, restaurant was also expensive. During the night it was not noisy, only animals were doing noises, but it's ok for some people. Gecons everywhere :)
nice, cosy hotel in koh mak. good staff. fantastic disign rooms with tropical atmosphire!pool with slide, tasty fruit shake in bar. but not so good beach, better to go to another one. breakfast was nice. i recomendate this hotel for family holiday. free internet.
Last time I was on Koh Mak I visited this resort and was made a note to stay here when I'm next back. It's a fantastic place, the bar on the end of the pier is worth it alone. Will definitely be back.
cosy hotel in koh mak. roos are very stylish and morden, good ideas with bath in the terrase and great view from room. free internet and staff. beach is not good so need to go to another side of the island to swim
Lovely room, nice location”
The best thing about my stay at Koh Mak Cococape was the room. I chose a deluxe room and the decor and furnishings were lovely - really artistic and well-designed. There were lots of nice little touches, the bathroom was amazing and the room even smelt nice. On the down-side, apart from thee manager, the staff seemed a bit dozy and the food wasn’t amazing. Really great location though - I’d definitely stay here again!
Quiet Place with Beautiful Views!”
We stayed for 7 nights, and at the beginning were disappointed as Agoda shows the Bamboola Suite as a two bedroom, and shows upstairs and downstairs, so we were assuming the unit was a 2 bedroom (2 floors) unit, but in actuality the 2nd bedroom is a mattress on the floor with the room being not much bigger than the single mattress itself (more like a closet). However, once we got past this missed expectation, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The small beach on the property is not nice, however, if you walk 2 minutes further, there is an untouched beach with coconut palms towering over head that we had to ourselves for the whole week. Lots of untouched beach to walk and discover, with good places to swim (watch out for sea urchins). The room was unique and pleasant, with a fantastic balcony with hammock and lounge chair overlooking the ocean. Also, off shore (20 minute by kayak) is Koh Kham, with a magnificent beach and beautiful clear blue water. The hotel had decent food for about 90-150 Baht ($3-5). However, because it was low season, much of their menu was not available. The pool and pier bars were closed, and no thai massage. No ice cream. Charged the same price for a instant coffee as an espesso drink (that you could get in high season). Down the beach 5 minutes is Koh Mak Resort, which has superior food and restaurant atmosphere. The pool is not suitable for a 2 year old (built in adventure style - which means "dangerous" for a 2 year old). The stairs up to our suite were also "adventure style" and were not adequately lit or swept the whole time we were there.
A charming, comfortable hidden gem”
Having visited friends in some of the other hotels nearby (many of which are probably considered better quality hotels, and which definitely charge double what we paid at the Cococape) I must admit that I felt quite smug. This was definitely the best balance of service, character and value that we saw. We stayed in one of the Coco Rhythm apartments. This came complete with plunge bath/sofa area. Inside the bedroom we had a super king size bed, bunk beds (which came in very handy when a friend was unable to get back to his cabin on Koh Rayang one evening), air con, a longstanding fan and a TV. There are ample power points. I would recommend you bring portable speakers/a tablet though since the TV had 200 channels...all of which were Thai language channels. The bathroom was huge, with a solar powered shower, and ample dressing/storage space. We were very comfortable and happy there. We had electricity whenever we wanted it, and you just need to allow for the occasional power outage as they're not mains connected and run from solar/generator. The main hotel area could do with a lick of paint, but somehow its slightly ramshakle look worked to add to the charm of the place. And I take charm over polish every time. you can book anything you need there, and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The pool, bar, and massage area was great - you get an amazing view from the infinity pool across the bay, and I challenge anyone to find a better view on the island. So far, so fantastic. So the downsides. The hotel is located down a very steep hill, which is hard going when you're heading off site for the day. I would recommend you get a moped, or get comfortable with ordering the taxi to take you to wherever you're going (50BHT/£1 a person to anywhere you want). We'd recommend this place to any of our friends and were very grateful to have found it.
Absolutely worth a visit ”
Stunning property in koh mak, the pier bar a highlight. Sunsets that are impossible to describe. Amazing spot to explore the island. Would come again
Relaxed location close to sea with great service”
Great place on Koh Mak with very attentive staff and excellent service. Nice pier with bar and playful design all over the resort. Personal attention to all guest although the english might not work fully always.
This is a great resort which gives you access to a lovely pier. The option to get a massage while overlooking the ocean is a nice touch as well. It is close to some local shops and small eateries (restaurants) which means you don't necessarily have to stick with the restaurant of the resort. The rooms may need some updating but that applies to most hotels in Thailand in this price range. Make sure to check out a local island called Koh Kham which is accessible from cococape resort with a small motor boat.
Wonderful architecture, great views, bad service ”
We stayed at Cococape Resort 4 days, 2 families with 4 kids ages 9 to 12. We were dropped off by private boat at the pier and walked on the pier, noticing missing boards, then big gaps, then no pier - 20 meters from shore! It had been damaged in a storm 2 weeks prior but nobody bothered to let us know or inform the private boat company. Good thing somebody saw us and alerted the hotel staff! After this outlandish arrival, we discovered the most beautiful Thai-style room ever, enjoyed great fruit shakes by the pool (kids loved the slide) and explored the island on scooters rented at the hotel. Best way to get around with kids! Glad that the island lives on the slow side of life - very little traffic, remote roads and incredible spirit banyan tree on the side of the road. The destroyed pier turned out to be the best spot to snorkel under (giant clams, fishies, anemones and sea urchins) and though we regretted not being able to enjoy the bar (destroyed too), the sunset on the pier was the most surreal sight ever. Some good swimming along the coast if you are so inclined. Don't miss the banana muffins and rice porridge at breakfast!
