Dilapidated hotel needs work”
Staff where friendly and nice but the hotel was definitely in need of some work. The first rooms we where in didn't fit are needs and they moved us free of charge which was nice. For the money though I would spend a few more baht and stay some where a little more up to date.
Only stay in beach front units”
Originally checked into a villa. It was extremely disappointing. Ants everywhere, sketchy stair case, run down and birds living in the roof and pooping all over. I actually got crapped on walking into my place. After one night we asked to move to different units. There were newer ones along the beach front. They were far better. Still missing details like places to rinse your feet and sound proofing between the two floors wasn't great. There appeared to be no or minimal grounds keeping. The place was sun pat for sure. I'd recommended spending a bit more for something far nicer.
The gallery photo of this hotel in Agoda and Real location is so Fake”
I booked this hotel because there are swimming pool, good front beach in value for my money, but everything is so awful. it seems like no one at here. Abandoned swimming pool. The hotel is in the jungle, no service boy, no breakfast or any food cafeteria. Only one good thing is an Old-Air condition. I want my money back!!
During the low season from May-November, the restaurant and swimming pool is closed. Usually there is minimum staff looking after the resort at this time. It is best to come during the high season from Dec-April where all facilities are provided. We are sorry that you had a bad experience.
Nice hotel on a quiet island”
Beachfront resort with everything you can ask for. Close to the walking street where you can find shops and tour vendors. Helpful staff.
It depends on what you are looking for. If you want a quiet place with no frills this resort is fine”
This resort was very simple and near the village. The breakfast was ok. We didn't eat any lunches or dinners there. We choose to have dinner at other resorts within a short walk on the beach 🌴. Having stayed at several other islands in Thailand, I don't think that I would return here. But, it was fine for a 4 night retreat from our home in Chiang Rai to learn about other islands.
Muslims praying at night”
Muslims praying nearby at night is really noisy. Otherwise beachfront bungalows are ok but overpriced. Beach is one of the best near Sivalai and food is the best at the Perfect Bar.
A really nice hotel located in a beaufitul and quiet island. The staff is in the hotel from 7/8 am until 5 pm, after that, if you need something, you have to go to the main street (that is about a 10 min walk). Anita, the only english-speaking staff, is really helpful (so are the other ladies, but they speak Thai only) and arranged me the Emerald Cave tour for early morning to skip all the people. You have different types for breakfast, that are wonderful. WiFi works excellent, even on the beach. Definitely would go back.
Lovely location, peaceful and relaxed”
My husband and I stayed here with friends and absolutely loved this place. The sister and brother team who own and run it are delightful people and make you feel welcome from minute one. All staff members are sweet and helpful with any request or question you may have. We booked a boat trip to explore the Emerald Cave on the other side of the island during the early morning hours which was not just fun but also a visually striking experience. A must do while on Ko Muk! What we loved about Riviera Beach Resort as well was the location, the spacious beachfront Bungalows and how you felt immersed in nature and the life of the fisherman villagers and locals living around the resort. The sounds and the sights are nothing but delightful and relaxing. Would always return here on a future trip and recommend Ko Mook Riviera Beach Resort to anyone coming to the island.
PMC - Perth”
A great value for money spot in a lovely location. The staff couldn't do enough and their sustainable earth and community development policies resonated with us. A relaxed and enjoyable place to stay and great for families and groups. The eating area was casual and welcoming and meant that we met plenty of other travellers.
Quiet, romantic, private beachfront”
We came during the low season so it was quiet. The gardens were lush from the rain and the weather cool during the day. There was a romantic feel to the air as we took long walks along the beach that were not filled with tourists. What a change of pace having come from Phuket. Very laid back serene atmosphere. Rooms were clean and cosy.
Dirty and worn out room”
I have never seen so many notes of rules and regulations of how the guests should behave. There was also a note that the staff offer high service and clean rooms. The first I did when I arrived was to clean the walls in the bathroom from insect/bird feces. Not worth the money!!!
When we stayed here there was only us and like 3-4 others staying at the resort. Very friendly staff and nice rooms, we stayed in a beach front house. The only bad thing was that we had a break in and lost most of our cash. The staff was cery helpful and arranged with the police.
Nice Quiet beach”
There seems to be a debate as to which side of the island is nicer. they are both nice, however I like the Rivera side the most. not as many people and a good beach. Its also closer to the little village for a variety of food. The mostly sea front villas have great views. The furnishings are basic, but come with a good air con. lovely place. The people who work there are terrific and went out of their way to make it a very comfortable and enjoyable vacation.
A lovely environmental friendly hotel!”
Staff were incredibly helpful during our stay here, they had really lovely policies regarding the environment and welfare of the island. Profits from the hotel go towards children and their education and so forth. It is all environmentally friendly, and from previous reviews I see people were put off by their "disgusting yellow water". However, this is not true and all you have to do is read the information in the hotel to realise that it is throughly distilled naturally, the colour itself comes from tannin in the coconut roots. We were also pleasantly surprised by the offer of free dinner every night of our stay, the sizzling dishes were a spectacle! The island itself is very quiet but be sure to check out the authentic village behind the hotel and the lovely people and also the Emerald cave! The beaches themselves are beautiful and we had the best time staying here.
Our 4 night stay at Riviera Beach Resort”
On arrival we met the Professor/ owner of Riviera Beach Resort on a rare visit. He and his daughter gave us warm welcome and told us about their endeavours on the Island, in helping the local community/ raising awareness of the preservation of Mooks' marine wildlife/ environment. We had booked a room inland but were offered a discounted upgrade to sea view room. The room was large + 10 seconds from beach. Bed was v.comfortable/ shower room clean + spacious. There was a sofa, shelves and desk but a wardrobe would have been a good addition. The food was good at both breakfast/ dinner. The dinner menu is limited, but the dishes are clearly well practiced. They specialise in sizzling hot plates (personal fave was massaman curry). Breakfast was good and we were kindly offered Anita the manager's own baked beans even though they weren't on the menu. As vegetarians (and from the Uk) this was a lovely offering. In terms of feedback, it should be noted that the 'English Breakfast' and 'American Breakfast' should be the other way around (we only really eat pancakes once a year in UK!) The location couldn't be better. It's next to the best cocktail bar on the island (claiming to make the best Margarita in the world?!) and just up from Sugars' which is a great alternative for breakfast/lunch. Most significantly it's on a picturesque quiet and beautiful beach. The village around the corner and area to the left of the pier is also worth visiting. Other feedback- It would be good if bicycle hire from the hotel was cheaper (was more expensive than scooter hire). Maybe the music during breakfast could be a bit more fitting/ changed from time to time as was the same every morn, and they should make more of a feature of their environmental endeavours. It's a bit underplayed at the moment, when personally I think it should be something really prominent. Riviera Beach resort is perfectly located and run by some of the most hospitable people we met in Thailand.
A nice getaway”
Quiet. Had the beach to ourselves with only a few people. The villas were clean and spacious. Very comfortable mattresses so we woke up late each morning. The island is very pristine. Staff and locals very friendly.
Enjoyed our stay in paradise!”
The Koh Mook Riviera Beach resort was perfect for our 3 day stay and we would have easily stayed longer if we didn't have to fly home. The resort is quiet and you have access to a private beach with plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby as well as a 1 minute walk to the cutest little village full of lovely people. I really reccomend staying here. The staff were very friendly and always had a smile and were always willing to help and make you comfortable. It made the stay really nice. There was a free dinner offered every night which we sadly didn't go to because we spent our days lounging around the resort and wanted to explore the village/support the local restaurants at night. But this addition was very nice. The breakfast was also included in the price of hotel and it was nice. After two weeks in Thailand I didn't once see a breakfast buffet and honestly why do you complain about what one hotel does vs. the other. Isn't that the beauty of life - that we're all different. 😉 The breakfast pancakes were very good and the others looked good as well. The rooms I would give an 8.5/10. We stayed in the garden rooms and loved it. You don't always need the ocean right outside your window and the room was very quiet given that most rooms were booked throughout the time of our trip. We had a big bed, a fan, AC unit, big bathroom, a small futon and a tv. What else do you need? It was great. Was it 5 star hotel quality? No, but it was exactly what you needed at the beach: a quiet, open room with AC and a place to relax for a bit. The big sell for me was the screened doors and windows and most importantly the screened window in the bathroom. I can't tell you how comeforting it was to see the bugs/lizzards crawling knowing they CAN'T come in!
Nice hotel with a possitive surprise”
It was a nice hotel, but we had to upgrade the room, so we got a bungalow by the sea. The service was very good and they offerede a complimentary dinner the 3 nights we stayed there. You should take a taxi to the hotel instead of the longtail boat. It is easier and cheaper. The bewach is not the best because of the tide.
Best beach at Koh Mook”
We stayed at Koh Mook Riviera Beach Resort with our baby boy January 2015 and loved every minute. Sea villas are spacious, clean and placed with lots of space between and close to the beach. The beach is the best at Koh Mook and not crowed as at Charlie beach where there's packed. Simple and nice breakfast and to our surprise complementary diner which was excellent. If you are looking for relaxation away from the crowd stay here! We will definitely come back:-)
Great food, excellent beach, Best tour”
Apart from the private beachfront the resort has a very lush garden area which is not common in island resorts we have stayed at. We were surprised to see big trees and natural ponds like a big park and this provided cooling shade against the hot sun during the day. It was very welcoming. The food is very tasty and their sizzling dishes are a highlight. We recommend the mild curry with chicken or calamari. The dishes were made less spicy for us. Their hot coffee with a shot of brandy is also very good. Reception very friendly and organised the tour to the emerald cave at a time when no one else was there. It was a wonderful experience to be in the cave all by ourselves. We had done the tour before from Lanta and there were over fifty other tourists and too crowded. The resort seems to know at exactly what time to go to avoid the big boats. Be sure to ask them and go with them for a once in a lifetime experience. Comfortable rooms and mattresses. Will return.
