stay one night for the view”
View from bamboo huts was breathtaking and unique. Overpriced for what it is. Lots of walking up hill and narrow paths. Anyone with bad knees or disabilities can not handle the paths. Restaurant is not worth eating at. Tuna steak came out cold in the middle(not defrosted all the way) and chewy. It’s also impossible to walk anywhere unless you’re ready to be drenched in sweat from all the extremely steep hills. Totally worth staying for a night to enjoy the view. It definitely was a unique experience and nice to get away from fancy hotels for a few nights to have something more authentic. Staff was amazing and very helpful/accommodating.

beautiful location maintenance need improvement ”
beautiful bay, beautiful location, very close to the center. not recommend to older people and young kids. a lot of stairs and uncomfortable access to the rooms. a lot of potential to the rooms , it's big enough but maintenance need to improve , the room are not new and need to renovate. the beach is very nice a lot of fish in the bay but again , the maintenance is not satisfy. the stuff nice but hard to communicate becouse their English is very poor.

Good location, amazing staff but very dated ”
The Bamboo hits is part of a 'rural village' of sorts, perched on a cliff side getting anywhere is precarious and requires alot of steep hills, uneven paths and stepping over piping. Pros: location when you get there is gorgeous, the sea is incredible and I'd recommend snorkeling or diving as there are so many fish. The staff are fantastic and couldn't do any more, super friendly. Also the site is only a 20minute walk to town so good location Cons: the paths are very uneven. The main restaurant was closed last October and not due to open again any time soon (so the staff informed us) which just leaves the beach bar and restaurant (which have both seen better days), we had ants and mice in our room (not a problem as we were in the jungle) but our private pool was filthy, the water desperatly needed changing which we informed reception about, twice. This resort is not cheap. Saying that the sea and staff alone make this worth visiting just not at the prices!

Great location, poor service”
Loved the room location, but staff were unskilled and unresponsive. Ate at the restaurant, many items on the menu were unavailable even though the place was completely empty. The waiter did not speak Thai or English very well. The entire staff left the restaurant before we finished without a word. The rooms are pretty far from reception, but when we asked for helped with our bags upon check out, we were told there was no one available.

Great position. Resort is falling apart. Working staff great. Reception staff rude and lazy. ”
We have stayed here b4. 8 yrs ago it was a wonderful experience. The place has deteriorated and the attitude of the reception staff was unwelcoming and very uncaring. The only time they smiled was as we left the resort.

Sure was beautiful at one point”
The property looks a bit run down, as if it were once great, but hasn't been looked after since. They experienced some trouble with the electric power supply, which is why it was shut off between 10:00-15:00 every day, also meaning that the WiFi was gone during that time. The staff was not unfriendly, but also did not really care much. In the morning they would ignore the "don't come in" sign and clean the room anyway. At dinner I was once served fish instead of chicken, which can happen I guess (also due to the language barrier, since no one except for the receptionist spoke good english ) , but I am "allergic" to fish and instead of apologizing, the staff thought it was rather funny that they mistook that dish for mine. The beach at the property is rather small and the accommodation is far off, so you will need a taxi or a scooter if you want to go to another beach or into the city. Except Sai Nuan beach, (100/200THB entrance fee). On the plus side : the sunset view was magnificen

If You Pay, Stay”
Having already been in the habit of travelling these islands via scooter, a resort like this is a welcome rest if you've been back packing Its a little far from the action, and a bit of a nightmare climbing the mountains on scooters but staff are incredibly helpful and flexible with regular shuttles to and from huts, to reception, to the pier. If you're treating yourself to a couple of nights, highly suggest just bunker down and stay there. there's free snorkel gear and beautiful private Jameson's bay. and room to snorkel from your bungalow. Restaurant and Elvis bar, while a bit steep on price, are nice and a good way to treat yourself (especially those pina. coladas!) Sunsets a treat from our Bamboo Hut and a perfect way to say goodbye to Koh Samui with your partner by your side

Best in KOH TAO”
Highly recommend, I have never bothered to write a review before and I have stayed at some great hotels around the world. Bamboo Huts is simply amazing, the vibes and feeling I got when I was there are priceless. Perfect for Honeymoon very discreet, private & quiet setting. However I did stay in the more expensive Private Pool Villa so can't be quoted on the other rooms. All in all a must do if you're in KOH TAO!!! Thanks

Peaceful and beautiful”
Wonderful! Stayed six nights with my girlfriend in sunset view suite. With great location between two of the best beaches on Koh Tao and only a 10- 15 min walk to Mae Haad. The rooms were clean and the staff were professional, with the exception of a few misunderstandings due to the language barrier. All in all we felt we could really relax and regain our energy in this paradise. If what you are after is a calm beautiful place to relax I cant reccomend Bamboo Huts enough

Here's how to have a great experience”
Firstly, all the rooms are great. They are a bunch of high end bungalows scattered along a rocky beach. There are no bad rooms. Second, there are no hammocks. The photo lies. If you can't live without a hammock, bring your own. The resort is owned by Charm Churee village, and you eat and use their reception. It is a very long walk if you take the road, but it is a fine walk if you go down to jamson bay and then up to the restaurant. When you exit to the road, look left and you'll spot a path in the undergrowth with a small sign... this is the better way to go! do not walk the road, it is ugly and takes forever. When I was there, the phone to call a car wasn't working, so if you do want to be shuttled back and forth, call form your room. Do NOT book this room if you aren't in medium shape and if you cannot/do not want to walk a lot of stairs every day. Because all the room require a lot of stair climbing. There are too beaches, as other reviewers said. there is Jamson, which is a great beach for kids and folks who want to sun themselves and drink beer. There are some fish, but the coral is pretty much shot. The other beach, Sunain, is a longer white beach with no beach chairs, a tricky to find little restaurant (it is there though!). The coral is pretty good on the right side near the rocks. It's a longish but completely survivable walk there, and well worth it. Finally, right beneath your hut is a tiny bay full of fish and coral, it's just hard to get to. Go down between BB13 and 14, and be very careful getting in and out. This was the only way I could find that was reasonable to get it without getting scraped up by rocks. Only go when the water is calm. You'll be rewarded by some gorgeous coral and fish, which is getting too rare on Koh Tao. Don't forget, never touch the coral, it kills it! Breakfast is indifferent, the usual buffet and an omelette bar. I wish they'd have jook every day, it was pretty good. The walk to reception may almost kill you, but the w

Fantastic romantic hotel with spectacular views”
Great stay here, it's pricy but it's worth it... A bit far from reception (but there's free car ride) and a bit far from the village (15min walk, but let's face it, you cannot have this scenery in the village...), but it's really quiet & beautiful. Koh Tao and the sea is right at your door ! Amazing outside bathroom, you can snorkel from your hut if the sea is not too rough... 2 min from the hotel beach (great snorkel if you get to the rocks), 2 more to the amazing view breakfast. and 15min trek to a truly secret beach... Also, lazing about on the terrace is an activity in itself... Be careful, no pool unless you got one with your villa

Fantastic romantic hotel with spectacular views”
Incredible stay here, probably the greatest place I've ever been. The view is dreamlike, the emerald sea and Koh Tao island are almost inside you room. Lazing about on the terrace is an activity in itself. The outdoor shower and bathroom is magical. We stayed in BB7, one of the bigger huts but no direct access to the sea like some others. The down side is a 2 mn walk to the beach and 2 more to get breakfast, compensated by the vast buffet and scenery. It's a very pricy hotel, but well worth it.

Lovely view, very quiet and beautiful”
Amazing view, great bamboo huts and outside bathroom for green lovers, right in front of the deep crystal clear sea,at your doorstep ! Great beach at two minutes, amazing breakfast at 4min and quite a secret beach by a 15min walk... It's worth getting to bamboo huts ! cons: You can meet some animals, it's hilly, a bit far from reception (but there's car ride, worth keeping the eyes open), and a bit far from village (but you can not get this tranquility & scenery in the village) No swimming pool unless it's in your villa

Beautiful property and location, slightly ruined by weather”
The bamboo hut we stopped in was lovely from the inside, but maybe a little aged from the exterior. Is approximately 20 minute walk through the jungle to get to (so make sure to wear mosquito repellent!). Unfortunately, the weather was horrendous during our visit and therefore couldn’t make the most of the views we were given. We also came in low (tourist) season, and unfortunately couldn’t find anyone to rent a kayak, which we were informed by reception staff that we could do. However, given the weather I was not surprised of this. I think if we visited in high (and dry) season, then the money would’ve been 100% worth it, but the weather and deserted facilities let us down and probably wouldn’t pay that price again for this time of year.

Jungle Paradise”
We had no problems throughout our whole stay, it was so peaceful, and beautiful! The reef is just next to the hut so you can snorkel outside the room, it's incredible! At night you hear the waves crashing! You have to walk a bit to town, but it's not bad, 15 minutes and you're there. The resort is connected to another one called Sensi Paradise. From Reception to the hut it's a bit of a walk, lots of up and down through the jungle, which is so beautiful though! Take advantage of the free shuttle from reception to the room for convenience and ease. The shops and restaurants in the area of this hotel is cheaper than Sairee, and safer! Enjoy Koh Tao, it's one of the most beautiful places in the world!

Paradise on earth ”
5-star for service. I had the best stay here. The staff was absolutely accomodating. I didn't like the first bamboo hut they put me in so asked for a change and they let me move into this gorgeous hut with panoramic view of the sea. Ask for BB7, it's the best hut. The open air shower can get a bit chilly at night. There's a big lizard that lives nearby and would come out to eat leftovers if you leave them outside. I have to praise the staff again for arranging my transfer to the pier at 5am in the morning. The steps are a bit of an exercise but the view was totally worth it.

Very good”
Stunning views from the rooms. Very spartan quarters with minimal towels and toiletries but they are trying to save money on laundry so it makes sense. You have to walk up and down concrete steps and ramps so if you are physically challenged this is not for you otherwise you will get a lot of exercise. They will shuttle you to and from the huts to reception. Beach on Jansom Bay is sandy and secluded and snorkel and masks are no charge for guests and you can dive right from shore altho coral is pretty damaged there are lots of fish species. Starlight restaurant had delicious meals- some of the best Thai food on the island. 10 minutes walk along paved path right into Mae Haad. Staff were exceedingly helpful. If you pay for extras with credit there is a 3% charge. Balconies of the huts have recliners and platforms with cushions. Large fridge in room and TV and DVD/ radio.

this was real paradise”
of all the islands we visited on our trip, koh tao was our favorite. friendly service and beautiful scenery, what more can you ask for. our hut was right on the edge of the island, with a walking path to the ocean where you could just swim around, or snorkel. the resort had two restaurants, one serving breakfast and dinner, the other serving lunch, and town was only a 15 minute walk. the beaches were beautiful, and the massages were great. would definitely visit again.
