      Nice Establishment ”

I love Koh Tao Hillside. Compared to the price and what they had provided us, it was a great deal. I traveled with my bff and everything went so good. Hotel does have quite a dramatic landscape but that allows you to have extraordinary view. they provide buggy car to move up and down the hill (from room areas to lobby and main road) Pool, bar and restaurant are lovely.

      Wild Experience!”

The room was so nice with the ocean view. The staff are freindly too and especially the owner. Defintely worth staying here if you plan to stay in Koh Tao many many days. The owner took a really good care of us and recoomended us for all day long tail boat to snorkel and discovered around Koh Tao. We had so much and excited expirence with wild life. (gang of big black geckos showed up on the wall of the room next door) The only thing we don't like here was they not allowed guest to drive the motocycle around the hotel. Took us 5-10mins walk up and down hill to get to the room and leave.

Stunning views from this hillside resort”

Lovely pool; great food and service; clean no frills bungalows

Although up the steep hill from Sairee beach town, Hillside is nearby and retains a peaceful feeling- where most places along the main beach are subject to loud- and mostly tragically bad- music. Hillside resort itself is extremely steep- if you are located near the sea it is stunning, but quite a walk up to the building, but well worth the hot climb! The bungalows have A/C and a mini bar, and most offer a view of the sea. Be at the hotel bar for 5pm to enjoy BOGOF drinks and idyllic sunset views of the bay. The walk to town is a 10-15 min stroll down the steep hill, or a 200bht ride if outside the resort's free transfer service. Note that walking back isn't pleasant in the heat! Local pick up taxi drivers around the 7/11 store will take 300bht off you for the 3min drive back- walk a little towards the resort away from the town and you'll get one for 200bht or less. A longboat taxi will drop you off on the small private bay by the pool if you fancy a different journey home, or from day trips. There is a lot of good development going on to make a poolside bar and restaurant, and a new pier is being built, hinting at more facilities like a possible diving school etc. Get a killer deal whilst you can before price hikes!

Great place on Ko Tao!!!! ”

I booked this place without quite looking at the reviews, and after reading them I was regretting my decision. However, luckily they were quite misleading!!!! Yes it is on a hill and there is some waking involed (not the end of the world - however if you have mobility issues I would not recommend at all) but what else would you expect from a hillside resort. They do provide golfcart service to pick you up from the room if need be but I did not use it because honestly who doesnt want a little exercise when on vacation anyways ( Infact I was happy to walk the stairs everyday!). The employees were all super kind, helpful and pleasant. The room was nice and clean no complaints at all. The pool was great and of course the incredible view! Yes it is not a 5 star resort that one might be used to but it is comfortable and you get what you are paying for. As for the walk into town, maybe 15 minutes or so quite a nice walk as well, although you can rent some motorbikes cheap 150 baht nearby.

      hillside resort review”

      snorkling,food,restaurants

I was relaxed and I enjoyed my stay...but the resort has the steepest road and paths ever.they are very close to 45 degress in angle.no wardrobe in room so nowhere to hang up your clothes and no internal telephone to contact reception,so if you have a health problem you cant call reception for help or phone up for the onsite golf cart to help with getting up the steep road to exit the resort.the food is very good but very expensive in my opinion and the wine is even more expensive at £4 for the smallest of measures.the staff were very friendly and courteous.the taxi from the resort to the nearest beach(1km away)will cost you £8 EACH WAY.surely the most expensive taxi fares ever.that said I did relax and feel really good staying at hillside resort and thought the snorkeling was great.

      Too steep”

      Staff, scenery, food

Upon staying here I felt place was lovely very peaceful resort, lovely staff except one in restaurant I found rude on two occasions. Food was lovely here. Staff at reception very helpful also. I would stay here again just one thing if your big person or trouble with back or legs i advise against staying here as resort is built on a hillside a can be tiring going up and down when going to pool/popping to reception. They do have buggy service but need to call for that. With that said I would stay here again certainly with lighter luggage

      Peaceful and beautiful! ”

Food at sea restaurant, infinity pool, bungalows with their rickety charming pathways.

Really impressed. Was a great break from budget hostels. There are steps but that is certainly necessary as it's on a hillside! The staff were really friendly and helpful though, carrying our luggage and had a buggy available to give you lifts through the resort. Lovely sea views. Recommend hiring a bike as it is 25 min walk into main beach and restaurant area.

Nice hotel but you need to have a good cardio”

The staff is very nice and helpful , and they speak English

The stay was overall good, however we were very close to the sea so every time we wanted to go move from the bungalow we had to climb the hill which was very tiring. Before coming we read some comments talking about the stairs but reading it and doing it are 2 different things. But overall the staff is very nice, very helpful and polite , the place is quite and far from the clubs and all the noise and it is easy to move in Koh tao as long as you have a motorcycle.

Panoramic view on the Koh Tao bay”

Nice view from the deluxe rooms and the restaurant

Koh Tao Hillside Resort is a bit overpriced, like most hotels in Koh Tao, but the view is superb. That is if you take a Deluxe room because the other rooms have no view at all. Location is ok, although you would need a motorbike or a bike to reach the city center. It's not far but it's above a hill that makes it a long walk!

Pleasant stay with great ocean view”

      Splendid view over the ocean

Koh Tao Hillside Resort is located up the hill, a 15 minutes walk from the main beach (Sairee Beach) in Koh Tao. It's quiet and the large bungalows have a splendid view over the ocean. The resort is located on a hill, so be aware of quite heavy walking up and down the hills to reach the main road from most of the bungalows.

      Fantastic View”

one of the best sunsets, amazing view from anywhere in the hotel, good enough breakfast

we paid a little more to get the sea view room. no regrets. the view from our room porch was unobstructed, so we could watch the sun set or just stare out at sea. the room itself was ok, clean enough, no frills, but a don't expect room service and marbled floors. a little far from the main sairee area, so you will have to either take a taxi or rent a bike. taxi there isnt cheap, but you can rent a bike at thb200 for 24 hrs. if you are a sucker for great views, and dont mind a 10-15 min hike up and down your room, koh tao hillside is for you. this place grows on you, so don't judge on first impressions.

This location is downhill and you will have to commute from the reception to your room by foot everytime which can be strenuous for certain kinds of people. I had zero issues and enjoyed my view from the room. Though I got a garden view room, I could see the sea from my balcony. Stayed here for two nights and we had a very good time. The prices can always change due to high and low seasons. I got a good deal at 550 THB. They don't have power lines to this property location, so during certain times, the property would turn off power to the rooms during 12 pm - 2 pm as they use generators powered by diesel to provide electricity.

      Truly hillside”

It's in the name - this is very much a hillside resort. Amazing views, clean air, fresh breeze, but lots of climbing required. We had read the reviews and came prepared so we didn't mind, it was a good workout. The bungalow was nice, although a bit outdated, but definitely worth the reduced price. Most of the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the resort offered a free pickup service to the ferry. The family living opposite the resort rented scooters, and were very helpful.

      Hillside indeed ”

Stunning view, especially from the restaurant area

Hotel carries the name hillside for a reason, so be prepared for some steep climbing. The small but airconditioned wooden seaview bungalows are basic but clean and have a stunning view. They are a bit on the expensive side compared to other resorts on Koh Tao. The hotel has a swimming pool but parts next to it are currently under construction. The pool area is a bit basic and grey and does not do justice to the otherwise lush environment surrounding the hotel. You will def need a motorbike or transportation to get into Sairee as the hotel is too far to walk, especially in the dark. If you do decide to walk make sure to carry a torchlight as the road, although concrete, is not lit.

      Greate escape”

Away from crowds, well maintained bungalows with everyday room-service, excellent sea-view located on hillside covered with trees, bushes and flowers. Beware - all area and paths are very steep.

      Great hotel with access issues”

      Room, Pool, Food

The stay was great, but the climb down to the rooms from the main road/reception area is ridiculous. If you're up for scaling a road that's practically a vertical drop with minimal stair access then this is the hotel for you. The staff are incredible and the food was some of the best we had on the island.

      Nice stay”

nice location, attentive staff, beautiful environment

We stayed for 2 nights, the location is great, but it is a bit remote so you need to take a taxi, or rent a motorbike to get around. swimmingpool area is great overlooking the ocean. Bear in mind that it really is on a hillside, so a lot of climbing of stairs.

      Good views rude staff ”

Front desk staff chose to help me last even though I arrived at the desk first. They acted like I was inconveniencing them. The hotel has great views but not of the sunsunset. The hotel is on a cliff so the staff will take you on the golf cart ride of your life to drop you and your bags off and up the hill if you call them but you have to walk down to your room. NO WIFI. Nice pool and overlooks. Snorkel for rent but you must jump off the dock as walking in on the little beach will hurt the coral and your feet. Staff woke us up at 8:30 am by knocking on the door to ask when we would check out then did loud gardening all around our room. No bathroom door, just shower curtain.

"Resort" is a word that is used all too loosely”

      View, Pool, Restaurant Staff

The view is breathtaking. I don't think I'll ever stay at a place where I can open my door and hear the waves below. Unfortunately, however, the structures seem much more run down than can be seen in the photos. Walking into your room can be a shocker. A paint job would help as well as bathroom renovation, maybe even some storage space. Ask about the lack of a safe and they'll tell you to lock your laptop in your luggage. The beach, also, consists of stones and strong waves. It's somewhat dangerous and my wife scraped herself on the sea floor several times. To get around the actual place, you must climb some very steep and uneven wooden stairs. Someone could really get hurt, here. My wife and I hike a lot, so this did not bother us too much, but I could see how this could pose a problem for many. Of course, you can call a man on a golf cart and you will be taken to the front desk, but since there is no phone in the room, you must use your own phone because Skype did not work in our room. We usually had to wait a good ten seconds for a page to load, the wi fi is that slow. Then there's also the walk into town. The hotel only provides two shuttles a day and will not pick you up downtown. It is written in your hotel literature that two of you can take an alternative cab for 200 Baht, but this is not the case. The drivers all start at 400 Baht and will not go lower than 300 for two people. (Just to put this into context: You can go across much of Bangkok for 200 Baht.) Having to barter every time for an over-priced ride can become really annoying and the hotel staff won't actually ensure the price they promise. They'll just shrug their shoulders. We walked into town most of the time and on a couple of occasions, the heat was unbearable. We probably will not return. It's overpriced and the inconveniences far outweigh the natural beauty. There are a handful of hotels on the way up same hill with the same view, same beauty.
