WOW! What a great resort ON THE SAND!”
We originally booked 2 nights at this resort on the beach. We walked the sand and found this gem that includes 3 multi depth descending pools situated on the sand and right near the pier. To our great surprise, we landed a 3rd floor pool/beach view for $24/night! We loved this place so much, we stayed for an additional 3 nights (5 nights total). The sunsets were dynamite & the close proximity to town was a major draw for us. We aren’t avid scuba divers so opting for a resort over a scuba shop was a great choice and we would stay here in a heartbeat on our next trip. The restaurant isn’t much to boast about. Overpriced meals but the staff is welcoming. If you’re looking for a cute, romantic and affordable getaway from the typical backpacker hostel life, this is the way to go!

so its down the beach a few mins walk , but we had wheels on ours so couldnt go down the beach so had to go up some hills the mopeds had issues getting up lol , but nice pools and rooms , good value ,

Quiet beach location; a little dated”
Positives: - Situated directlyon a quiet stretch of beach - Choice of 4 pools (including next-door resort) - Spacious room - Large comfortable bed - Hot shower with great pressure - Nice seating areas by the sea with great breezy - Lovely helpful staff - Easily walkable to Make Head & Sairee Negatives: - Everything is just a little faded and unloved - Pool was clean enough but could have been cleaner - suspect the cleaning system was not as well maintained as it could be So, overall, if you want somewhere modern and pristine this isn't for you. However, if you're willing to overlook some slightly rough edges, it's a lovely spot to chill out for a few days.

We had a great room, directly in front of the pool. The location could be a little better.. so you usually have to walk for about 8 minutes if you wanna go eat something. But the hotel is great and the price is very cheap for what you actually get.

Needs some refurbishment, price felt too high”
The hotel could need a good renovation and shows wear & tear, blankets look odd, pool area not clean, A/C noisy, Wifi available but slow... - room prices are a bit too steep for this standard and remote location (not from the beach but from restaurants etc.) to be honest. Motorbike rental is recommended. On the upside, the breakfast that was included in our package was extensive and good, and there's a nice stretch of beach in front of the hotel.

Nice hotel although abit tired looking. Lounges around the pool are wooden so uncomfortable to lie on to long, but your right on the beach and a short walk from Mae haad pier.

Originally we were the only guests in the hotel upon arrival. Other guests arrived after one or two days but the hotel itself feels tired, drab and not well looked after. I know there is still a global pandemic but for New Years with so many domestic travellers coming to the Island, it is disappointing. The room generally lacks cleanliness. From scuff marks and stains to just not having areas swept properly. Even asking for a hand towel for the bathroom was a challenge as they would only provide one towel.

The room I had was one of the bigger ones, nice and spacious, and the location perfect. I had a room overlooking the beach, but could use a lot of maintenance. Shows its age. It was cheap though, due the the pandemic, so I was happy.

Fairly clean room, massivly hard beds and pillows, luxury look but faded. Fairly friendly staff. Location nicely between the pier and the shops and bars of sairee beach. However also right next to some very loud roosters that wake you around 4:30

I got the room because I thought it had a safe and a bathtub but no safe in the room and only a shower. I also blame Agoda for not requesting pics of what the hotels advertise. I had to pay for one night for which I did not stay and moved to a different hotel. The lady at the reception was friendly. The hotel had so much potential but runner down and needs refurbishing asap.

Overpriced, run down and filthy on a whole new level”
Rediculously overpriced. We had the best ocean direct wiev rooms they had, and all that was as advertised was the wiev. The rest is 20 years old pictures of a perhaps once good hotel. Now it is the worst crap hotel i have slept in. Ceilings were leaking water bad, with big holes in the ceiling. Windows were rotted thru, so there was big holes out. Glass had sunk down thru the rotten window frames and left big gaps in top of window, and a slap of wood and a ton of silikone was jerry rigged on as a patch etc. Filthy as nothing i have seen before, and full of ants and other critters. Just nasty, and at that pricepoint, it was absolutely not acceptable. Gross. Negative staff. Absolutely nothing positive to report. Avoid at all cost!

Old Hotel ”
My room was really old and the windows were not closing properly/ were broken. Because of that there was always a terrible sound in my room. Furthermore there were ants and a spider in the room. The personal helped me to erase them, but the Image of the ants everywhere on the wall stuck in my head so I left one day before...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Koh Tao Regal Resort and would highly recommend it to others. The hotel is located in a quiet and private spot, yet is perfectly situated with a 5 minute beach walk to Mae Hat and a 10 minute walk to the the town of Sairee Beach. The convenient onsite restaurant serves delicious Thai food and the hotel spa offers excellent Thai massages. We found all the staff members to be friendly, hard-working and helpful and were especially impressed with the groundskeeper who kept the pool sparkling clean. The Crystal Dive school uses the hotel pool for some of its lessons, so this would be a great location for someone interested in diving as well.

Quiet hotel, but great location”
We had only booked 2 nights here originally, but we ended up staying for 10 nights in total. The room was lovely, clean & big, great value for money. The hotel was dead at night which we liked but you can walk into town along the beach 5 mins if you want something a bit busier. Restaurant food was good, oblynprobleknis there were a few power cuts per day but it didn't put us off. Right on the beach and 5 mins from shops, pier and diving shops. We will defjnitely be coming back to Koh Tao & will stay at Koh Rai Regal Resort!
