"The small resort is owned by a European. Very friendly and kind with his time. The staff spoke fair English and were very kind. The restaurant shone above all of the other restaurants we ate at in Thailand. Breakfast was a strange gamble. Our first day we were given hamburger buns for toast. Overall, a good stay and we would go back again!"

"Great place! Very comfortable rooms and great value for money. The owner is so sweet, he helped us with everything we needed. The location was good because it was in the more local area where everything was a lot more cheaper! We preferred this. Highly recommend to stay here!! "

"This is a new little resort which will grow bugger by time. Nice and clean cottages and friendly staff who will provided anything you ask for. The beach is right in the front, but is sony and not the best if you want to go swimming. They don’t serve alcohol (like most other restaurants on the island), but you can buy that at the neighbour resort. They also let you bring your own beer or wine if you eat in their restaurant. The staff is helpful providing motorbikes etc. if you want. Or drive you around. The resort is very quiet and there is not much to do around. But if you have a scooter or motorbike to get around it is a good and affordable place to stay. "

"Originally booked 2 nights and ended up staying 5. The hosts are incredibly nice and helpful. There are only 3 “bungalows” on the property all which are concrete, super clean, nicely appointed, new and sealed tightly (no bugs). Property is quiet and peaceful surrounded by banana and papaya trees. We rented a well maintained motorbike (a necessity for the location) from the property for 300 baht/day. Each bungalow has its own private patio for relaxing in the mornings and evenings. Overall fantastic stay on Koh Yao Yao. Loved the laidback genuine feel of the island. Spent several afternoons at Monkey Bar beach on Loh Paret where us, the friendly bartender and monkeys were Theo my visitors."

More about Koh Yao Yai

Koh Yao consists of two main islands: Koh Yao Yai and Koh Yao Noi. The smaller island, Noi, is more developed and home to the majority of Koh Yao’s population. Its villagers still make a living from fishing and farming, and the largely untouched islands are covered with lush tropical jungle, grazing water buffalo, rice fields lined with mangroves and limestone cliffs fringed by beaches and reef. Visitors can also see traditional rubber farms with tapping buckets hanging from tree trunks.

A wide range of accommodation is available on Koh Yao Noi, from backpacker bungalows to private hilltop villas with infinity-edged pools. The island has only a few restaurants and bars along the coastline, and a small village near the pier consisting of a huddle of grocery stores, school, hospital, police station, and post office. Neither of the islands have banking facilities, so it's important that travelers visit an ATM before arriving.

Some of the white sandy beaches, such as Ao Klong Son, are home to beautiful coral reefs and shady pine trees. Other beaches, such as Hat Tha Khao, are made from colorful rocks and gravels. Not far from the shore, there is a small island called Ko Nok that can be accessed by walking during the low tide. Laem Hat is a very long white powdery beach with shady coconut groves, cashew nuts, and pine trees.

A road circles Koh Yao Noi, and motor-scooters and tuk tuks are available for hire from the pier. Some local shops and hotels also have sea kayaks for rent, while most hotels offer daytrips to the amazing Koh Hong: the stunning rocks facing the island.
