Nice rooms near the beach and an amazing masseuse!”
Kolymbia bay itself is a lovely area in Rhodes. When we arrived, as we were on our honeymoon, Dimitra - very helpful member of the reception staff - informed us that they had upgraded our room to a sea view and we would be given free massages too - very nice of them! The massages were amazing - certainly one of the best massages I have ever had - make sure you get a massage by Maria during your stay it was heaven! The room was very nice - super clean with all the facilities you would expect - TV, fridge, wifi - only small problem we had was that the air con wasn't on for the first few nights we stayed - it was early in the season so just getting up to the high temperatures - when we asked how to turn it on as our room was very hot - we were told that the air con for the rooms was all linked together so if it is on in one room it is on in all of the rooms, so they centrally control it and it wouldn't be turned on for a few days yet! Thankfully the following day it was turned on but if you like to be in control of the temperature in your room this maybe a problem for you. The pool area is very nice and the pool bar is also nice - where they serve the late breakfast option - this is a great idea and not one I have come across before - for those who like to sleep in past the breakfast serving hours - they offer a late breakfast option which they serve in the pool bar area - in my opinion this was maybe even nicer than the buffet selection serve at normal breakfast time. The food in the restaurant at dinner time however needs a lot of work - on the first night the chicken in the buffet wasn't cooked through- some pieces were pretty raw - they were really apologetic but that really shouldn't happen - there are other eateries in the area about 10min walk away so we chose to eat out of the hotel most nights. All in all a great value pretty modern hotel though - would certainly recommend a stay there.
Enjoyable 4 night stay ”
I was here in early May, at the cusp of the busy season. I booked a Double room with garden view and they very kindly upgraded me to a sea view room. I was met with a glass of wine, and they proceeded to offer me a few more freebies as well, which was highly appreciated. The room has recently had a bathroom renovation and I was the first to use it. It was very nicely designed and functioned as expected. Toiletries and hairdryer were provided. The room itself was also very comfortable and clean. Tree coffee and tea, a fridge and electric jug and even a small ironing board and iron. WiFi was good most of the time in the room, even when sitting on the balcony. Breakfast was decent enough. It was a large buffet with cooked food (eggs, sausages, and other items) although I think they did a better job with the cold continental selection. (It would be nice if they had a toaster so you could toast your bread slices). Two nice features were the coffee machine and the do-it-yourself fresh orange juice machine. The staff were so helpful to me on several occasions - and were just genuinely nice people to talk to. Location is OK - it's right across from the beach which is good, and the bus stop is right outside the door. However, there is a bit of a walk to any of the other restaurants in the area, and at the time of year that I was there, it was an even longer walk to the main town as the smaller, closer restaurants were still closed. So if you don't have a car, be prepared to walk a bit. (Not complaining - walking was a good thing for me. But just be aware...) Overall, after travelling for the last 8 months or so, this would have been one of the better hotels that I have stayed, and it was certainly excellent value for what the low-season rate that I paid. (Of course, the upgrade helps me say that! But even so, I do think I would have been just as happy in my originally booked room).
Wish we could of stayed longer”
We enjoyed our stay here, and would definitely stay again. Great staff. We had a problem with our room, but the staff quickly took care of it when we alerted them.
