    Deluxe Twin Bed Room
Stayed 3 nights in March 2025

    “I want to come again.”

Being located in a beautiful area gives a sense of really being in Kurashiki. The age group of the guests is relatively higher, creating a relaxed atmosphere that is pleasant. The deluxe twin room has a decor that feels more like a regular residence than a hotel, allowing for a sense of calm. I stayed for three nights and did not request room cleaning, only asking for supplies. Towels and mineral water were restocked, but there was no restocking of green tea tea bags. When I asked at the front desk, they kindly provided additional supplies. All the hotel staff were gentle and soothing in their responses, which was comforting. I also visited the attached "Restaurant Tsuta" twice for lunch and dinner, where the service was excellent. I have known about this hotel for 20 years and had always wanted to visit, so I was very happy to be able to stay here.

“I always wanted to stay here ”

I always wanted to stay here this historical hotel for so long. The hotel is located heart of historic district and hotel itself is historic. I was traveling around Shikoku and found out good deals for this hotel and easy to access from where I was. It was great decision. Hotel was nicely renovated and great room with comfortable beds. Great bathhouse free museum access for guests. Very quiet and sophisticated. One thing I visited in January so all ivy was not green. I would love to come back again and recommend to everyone.

Dear Ms. Yumiko, Thank you very much for staying at Kurashiki Ivy Square. We sincerely appreciate your support. Our hotel was originally established in 1888 as the first factory of Kurashiki Spinning and was renovated into a hotel in 1974. The brick exterior, along with the original pillars and beams, have been preserved and repurposed as much as possible, resulting in a charming building wrapped in red bricks and ivy. The ivy covering the outer walls turns a vibrant green in summer and changes to autumnal hues in the fall, allowing visitors to enjoy different views throughout the seasons. We hope you will visit us again during a different time of year to experience this seasonal beauty. We will continue striving to provide even better service during your next stay. Thank you once again for your kind feedback. All our staff look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Sincerely, Kurashiki Ivy Square Staff

    “Great location, tiniest rooms”

This old building is in the historical quarter and is brilliantly located - especially if you walk out the back through the courtyard rather than the front reception. The building was originally a cotton mill. Check in was seamless, rooms spotlessly clean but oh so small. We had a twin room. Could only walk between the beds sideways. The shower was the best shower and a good size but the bathroom that it was in was extremely small. We are short people but even we were bumping elbows on the walls when drying ourselves. The saving grace was the additional full sized wash basin in the bedroom. We laughed a lot over the smallness of the room but would definitely stay here again. Price was good so if there’s another time, we might just have one person per room.

    “Great Location, pass on breakfast”

Location is great and is an easy walking distance to shops and the historical center. Kurashiki train station is about 7-10 mins by taxi. Pass on the breakfast buffet. All the “hot” food was cold at best and tasted horrible because of it. Staff is nice and room was clean, in a great location. Would stay there again, but will definitely skip the horrible buffet breakfast.

“Friendly Service, Cool Tech Features, and Comfortable Stay”

We arrived in Kurashiki a bit late, but check-in was smooth and quick. The staff were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain the hotel's facilities in detail, as well as the main areas and upcoming exhibitions. Unfortunately, since we were only staying for one night, we didn’t have time to explore the exhibitions or the local area, but I'm sure they would have been great to check out. The hotel also has a public bath, which we didn’t get a chance to use, but it's definitely a nice feature. One thing I found really interesting was their use of technology – there’s a QR code you can scan to check the live status of the self-service laundry machines, as well as the crowdedness of the public bath and even bus updates. You can also contact the staff through the website, which I thought was a very tech-savvy touch for the hotel. As for the hotel’s décor, it had a classic '80s vibe, which I actually found quite charming. It gave the place a nostalgic and unique feel. Our room was spacious and comfortable, offering everything we needed for our short stay. The only downside was the location – it's not very close to the station, and there are no convenience stores nearby. Overall, I’d recommend this hotel for its friendly service, comfortable rooms, and innovative use of tech features. It’s a great choice for a short stay if you don’t mind a little walk from the station.
