Loved it! Excellent location and great staff.”
An traditional and authentic Japanese onsen we loved our stay here and the staff was excellent. They even called us to warn us about the road closure and provided us with alternative route as we had informed them of late check in since we were driving from the snow monkey park. Ms. Horu informed they won't be able to provided dinner due to late arrival which we understood and accepted even though it was apart of our booking. We stayed in touch with them as they had called us a few times to ensure our safety and we were so grateful for it. We arrived around 8.30pm and they still managed to prepare our dinner which we were thankful as most places were closed due to the heavy snow. While we had our dinner in a private room our bags were sent up and they even gave us an upgrade for our room. The staff were very professional, thoughtful and attentive. We will surely return and stay here again as its such a beautiful place.
An excellent onsen hotel. Not far from the Kusatsu bus terminal, at the same time just a few minutes walk to the Kusatsu hot spring. The hotel seems to have been renovated and it's very new and clean. Onsen and food are great! Even though it's just a few minutes walk to the bus terminal, the hotel still offers a ride to the bus terminal. Cannot find a thing I don't like. Highly recommended!
Nice food beautiful onsen”
A bit far from bus terminal without a car
Classic onsen experience”
Room (Japanese style main building) was very big, comfortable and clean. Onsens were great and meals top-notch. Shuttle service to/from bus station. Uphill but manageable walk from center of town. Staff understands English reasonably well.
Good value for money”
excellent service, location, and onsen. Qualified for full 5 stars !! The reception has even asked me for the subsequent schedule, ultimately they sent my luggage to the other hotel that we're staying in the following night, so good and thoughtful !!
Very nice ryokan ”
It was our second time to visit Kusatsu onsen and first time in this ryokan. And we really loved our stay at this ryokan. People were so kind and helpful. They provided us with private room for dinner and very nice Japanese style breakfast. The public bathrooms are spacious, quiet, and lovely. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who vists this area !
Pleasant stay at Kusatsu Onsen area”
Hotel Kusatsu Onsen Boun is in good location, not too crowded. Walking from bus station along the shopping street to Yubatake and then uphill a bit to hotel. Big luggage is not recommended. Hotel services included hotel car are great. Facilities are clean and in good condition. Food is nice. Unfortunately, they not have non-smoking room. The room is comfort and clean with good view.
Perfect. Perfect. Perfect”
It was perfect place for you to enjoy Kusatsu's onsen. The onsen and shiseido bath products were sublime. We dipped in the indoor pool and outdoor pool in the middle of snow. It was sublime. I spent only one night and I took 3 baths altogether! The kaiseiki dinner was also superb and decadent. The room was new and clean. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a memorable kusatsu experience.
Exceeded expectations. Awesome room and food”
The hotel was easy to reach from Tokyo station by Shinkansen bullet train, then change to bus at Karuizawa for a scenic drive into the mountains. The hotel staff was warm and welcoming on arrival. English was limited but acceptable...extremely attentive and friendly staff. My spacious room had a beautiful view of the surrounding town, mountains, and a small waterfall. I was surprised and impressed by the quality of the in-room served dinner and breakfast. This was not ordinary Japanese food...every meal was fine cuisine, beautifully presented by a friendly hostess wearing a kimono. Food of this quality would be found in an expensive restaurant...likely around $100 USD per person. Certainly the finest dining experience I have had in any hotel anywhere. Kusatsu is one of Japan's top 3 "onsen" hot spring towns, and it didn't disappoint. Much to my surprise, the "sakura" cherry blossom season in the mountains was at it's peak during Golden Week in early May, long after the season ended in Tokyo. Cherry blossoms were everywhere, enhancing the beauty of the hotel and the town. There's much to see in Kusatsu, including the public hot spring bath in a nearby park. Highly recommended! The spas in the hotel were excellent and refreshing. I'm glad I included Kusatsu in my Japan holiday, and give Kusatsu Onsen Boun my highest recommendation! It's not the cheapest "ryokan" hotel in Kusatsu, but worth it. I will stay there again.
Wonderful Ryokan that's extremely near the town central. Has 2 different onsen types that A feels amazing on the skin. Not to be missed!
Ryokan is nice and clean.”
Atmosphere at ryokan is really good. Staffs are kind and helpful. They have a shuttle service between ryokan and Kusatsu bus terminal for free. Breakfast and dinner are really nice and yummy. ;)
We enjoyed our stay so much and will definitely recommend the place to my friends and family.
Excellent service and hospitality ”
That's so perfect that everything exceeds my expectation. The environment is fantastic, hot spring and facilities are so good, room is cozy and I was so lucky to have a garden view one. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. And meals were nice too! My mum and I enjoyed our stay so much and we would definitely recommend this place to people travel to Kusatsu.
Traditional ryokan with awesome food”
Very traditional ryokan and a 8 mins walk to yubatake The service was impeccable though the staff did not speak English very much. Lovely room with nice onsen and the food was awesome. Dinner - kaiseki meal with premium beef for our sukiyaki and we had a private dining room. breakfast was also good. Definitely recommended if you want a traditional ryokan feel. Good and clean room.
Friendly and helpful staff, know the areas very well with reliable comments”
Perceived what the customers needed, we would like to experience hiking in 白根山, the staff noticed that and suggested us for another scenic trail, explaining the mountain was closed for active volcano activity; otherwise we might waste our time getting to 白根山!
Updated facilities and great service”
One of the best onsen hotel in the area with spacious rooms and overall property size! They offer free Parking during your stay, a necessity in a town where parking is scarce! Excellent choice and surely you won't regret staying there.
Comfort Onsen in Kusatsu”
It wasn't a short distance to go to Kusatsu from Tokyo by bus(approx. 4hrs). But inside of Boun, everything was what I've expected. Yukata, food, hot spring and tatami room just made me feel like I'm so in Japan. Hot spring water was clean and great for relaxing. Dinner and breakfast was a bit heavy but they were all tasty.
Typical Japanese style onsen hotel”
Overall, the hotel condition is ok, and nearby the main attraction street. The hotel location is not easy to find if for travellers who talk public transporation. This hotel provide free parking, the Dinner meal is really good for customers.
Deserves a 5 star”
My gf and I decided to walk to the hotel from the bus station to explore more of the beautiful town, which was only about a 10 minute walk. The hotel is situated on top of a hill between the Yubatake (town center) and Sainokawara park/onsen which I think is quite a good location. As soon as we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly and helped us get checked in emphasizing to us "please make yourself feel at home". Upon entering our room, i was surprised, the Tatami room (halfboard) i booked was larger than expected, 1 living room and 1 bedroom connected to a small indoor porch with two chairs for those guest who would like to read and sip on some tea / and 1 bathroom. The room was very comfortable. At night our kaiseki dinner that came at around 6.30pm was great as well, especially the shabu, felt like a king as the staff served us. For the finale, we went to the hotel's onsen after dressed in our Yukata (already prepared in the closet) the best had to be the one called "Bandai" which had an outdoor onsen. Sitting outside while the snow falls was the perfect ending to my japan trip. Next day the staff prepared our transportation for us to be dropped off at the bus station. Overall, this hotel deserves a 5 star rather than its current 4 star status.
