"The best budget place I've stayed at in Kuta. Clean and quiet. It is a bit close to a karaoke bar, so it's possible to hear the singing down the street, but it's not very loud inside the room, and they wrap it up by midnight anyway, so not a problem."

"my partner and i just recently stayed at bali garden.. from the 2nd april - 7th april. the hotel is located around 10 minutes from the airport and is surrounded by loads of restaurants, shops and markets are an easy 5 min walk. if you wanted to party on everynight the nightlife in kuta is about a 15 min walk to downtown kuta and poppies lane... the hotel itself is situated on the beach front (not accross the road as most hotels are) the infinity pool at the front of the hotel is directly looking out at the beach... the beach is clean although not the best for swimming but would be suited to surfers or experienced swimmers as the swell was really big whilst we were there. the hotel has 3 pools, as mentioned the infinity pool, another huge pool with a swim up bar and loads of chairs, cabana's etc and the deep end of the pool is 3m, there is also a kids section in the pool..the adults only pool has cabana's and spas but is closed off at 6pm each night, and opposite is a little cabana where you can have massages, etc... the main pool is open until 11pm. there is a beach bar that is also open until 11pm. the restaurant food is fantastic with a big range of options, both indonesian and western. the grounds of this hotel are stunning, very green and leafy, breakfast is good, usual choice of toast, cereals, fruit, egg station and indonesion food. we used the hotel spa and had facials, massages, a full day spa for 3.5hours and it was so cheap, $50 each.... you would pay $300 at home.. the accomodation is clean... its not 5 star so dont expect anything too fancy.the bathrooms do need a renovation but they are not bad either... the room is cleaned everyday, basic inclusions in the room i.e shampoo and conditioner so better to take your own .. depends how fussy you are.... its clean, the beds are comfortable, its worth paying a bit extra and getting a room that overlooks the garden as the superior rooms face the street. all in all i think this hotel is really good value for mon"

"It was perfect. Staff surprised me with a birthday room deco and lovely delicious choc cake, got a free upgrade to lagoon access room. Nice comfy bed and pillows. Beautiful pool area and direct access to kuta beach at the back of the hotel. Love everything about the room, especially the big bathroom. Toilet with bidet spray(which is difficult to find for some hotels in kuta). Housekeeping team did a great job, room was perfectly clean. Variety of breakfast options available, both western and indonesian, some japanese cuisine as well. They serve good coffee too. Good location, not secluded, 7mins walk to discovery mall and main shopping area in Kuta,5 mins from Ngurah Rai airport. Great service from staff, so polite and friendly. Excellent hospitality! "

"My stay at Kuta Central Park was overall a very pleasant one. Check-in was hampered by them giving us two single beds instead of a double and my boyfriend and I had to wait half an hour for that, but the staff were extremely apologetic about it. We were offered two welcome drinks while waiting and decided to explore the grounds in the meantime; Giant hypermart and a few hardware/ electronic stores were just a 5-min walk away (good to stock up on fresh water, banana chips and keropok). As the bar and swimming pool extend all the way between the two blocks of hotel rooms, it's advisable to ask for rooms on the higher floors facing away from it for more peace and privacy. Our room on the 3rd floor was a Standard room, but extremely spacious with a large toilet. Breakfast every day was good with a large buffet spread of fruits, salads, cakes, western dishes, porridge, breads and a chef frying up omelettes and sunny side ups. Staff were extremely attentive and immediately arrived at our room when our safe malfunctioned. They were also quick and prompt in giving us directions to our various destinations, and in suggesting places to go e.g. Bali Mall Galleria which was nearby. The bad - although there's a shuttle bus that leaves the hotel every 2 hours to bring hotel guests to the main Kuta Beach area, the hotel's generally not very accessible with little to do within walking distance. The shuttle also only goes to 3 areas: Discovery shopping mall, beach walk and legian beach. The first two are larger shopping malls not really worth visiting, but they are located along the beach strip and are a good point to begin exploring the area. I would suggest walking back to Legian street and jalan poppies lane (which the shuttle bus bypasses on the way) to shop as well! If you would like a hotel further away from the busy beach area with excellent service, then Kuta Central Park's the hotel for you."

"The Royal Eighteen seems to serve all types of travellers, wether it be business, couples, solos' or families. A few things to know about this hotel if you're thinking of staying there: GENERAL STUFF: -The staff are very polite, they will try to help you as much as possible. They have their own maintenance team, and if you want to book a taxi just let them know and they will do it. -The hotel in my opinion is located in one of the best places in Kuta if you're looking to stay in Kuta. Please make sure that you realise that Kuta is much busier and more vibrant then any of the other places in Bali. If you're looking for a relaxing lodge then this may not be the place for you. However, if you're interested in being in the heart of Kuta then this is the right place. The Matahari, Discovery centre and Kuta centre and all within a 5 minute walk. -SCAMS: BEWAR! DO NOT EXCHANGE MONEY CURRENCY WITH THE ANY OF THE STALL NEAR THE HOTEL! ABOUT THE HOTEL/ROOM ITSELF: -The room: The rooms are not overly amazing however they are clean, quiet and air-conditioned. There's a LCD tv with loads of channels, only a few power points though. A reasonable size closet, with safe, a bench-top with a small fridge underneath and a tv above it, a large King-size bed and a small bathroom. The only problem we had with our room was that their was a design error in the bath which meant that when having a shower a small amount of water would drip down onto the floor outside the bath and the floor became wet, however the rooms where made/cleaned daily and they would dry this up each day and change towels etc. -The pool: Great! -Food prices: prices of food and drink at the hotel was standard, remember that most places in Bali has "tax" which basically is their way of adding 20% onto the suggested price of everything. Places that have "tax" will state it in small print on the bottom of their menus. -Buffet breakfast: The breakfast is great!"

"Excellent location in Kuta area, very close to Kuta Beach. SuperB wifi service, can use hotel's wifi even i was at Kuta Beach area. Big, clean and well decorated rooms but its a bit noisy at night because of the music from those nightclubs (all hotels in Kuta area are having this issue) Helpful staff with detailed pricing for water sports activities, tour details and good recommendations for places to visit. I have left my glasses at the hotel while i was checking out from the hotel and their staff managed to send it back to me through courier service"

"We stayed 3 nights in ubud, 3 nights in Seminyak and our flight was at 23:10 and so I booked this hotel for transit of 7 hrs by checking in at 14:00. It Is extremely close to airport less than a km. Room Is very clean and has hair blower, safe box, shampoo, soap, body gel, brush, paste for 1 person, water bottle, towels. Hotel Has restaurant, spa, pool, gym as well. Provides Airport free shuttle service every 20 min. However, We didn't opt for it and went by walk to airport as we were running out of time. Welcome Drink was good and unlimited it seems. Wish They have provided bathroom items for 2 persons. Maybe They would have if i had asked. Anyhow, we had things packed. By The way this hotel is in tuban, kuta and Seminyak. We Stayed in tuban as it was the closest to airport. Great Bed. Has tv too in room. Electronic Key is awesome. Definitely Would book the same hotel for transit if needed next time. "

"This is our 4th visit to Bali and normally book a hotel in Kuta area and this is the best hotel that we have stayed so far. When we stepped into our deluxe room, we were pleasantly surprised to see our bed and bathtub beautifully decorated with red roses and frangipanis..Our room was very spacious with a balcony overlooking the pool. We managed to catch live telecast of soccer shown on giant screens at the stadium cafe nightly. The restaurants were dishing out superb authentic local & international cuisines. We especially love the japanese fusion dishes at the Bluefin restaurant. We'll definitely recommend this hotel to our friends.."

"The delightful private villas set in immaculate walled gardens each with a private pool, a semi outdoor lounge area with a functional kitchenette, dining area and air-conditioned bedrooms. Modelled after traditional houses found in Bali and Java, the villas are built, furnished and decorated using local timber, tiles, fabrics and artefacts - blended with a modern-minimalist edge. Each has its own private pool, semi outdoor lounge with a kitchen and dining area. In the midst of fashionable. Private Villas are only minutes away from Kuta beach offering daily spectacular sunsets which can be viewed from delightful beachside cafes and bars. Kuta is also a world class shopping, dine out and nightlife destination with several of Asia’s best restaurants, bars and discotheques offering something for everyone. It’s really awesome. "

More about Kuta

The Kuta / Legian area is the undisputed champion of Bali tourism. It features beautiful beaches, a lively set of entertainment options and an undeniably exciting night scene. Hotels in Kuta / Legian once catered mainly for backpackers, but today Kuta and Legian have room to suit every brand of traveler.

Stretching five kilometers, Kuta Beach saw its first hint of tourism over 50 years ago. Before the 1960s, this was predominately a fishing village, but it has grown into a leading budget travel destination in Asia that has been especially successful with young Australians.

These days, Kuta is highly commercialized, thanks to Bali Kuta Galleria, two branches of Carrefour shopping complex (at Imam Bonjol and Sunset Road) and its own Planet Hollywood and Hard Rock Café (featuring live music at Centerstage). Kuta’s practical facilities are just as thorough, including the Legian Clinic, Padma Hospital, Klinik SOS Medika (near the Dewa Ruci Statue) and the honorary consulates of Malaysia and Spain.

As soon as Kuta landed on the backpacker circuit, surfers started taking notice. Surf shops now line the beach, and beginners can sign up for cheap lessons. But the party scene is Kuta’s real attraction, with beach bars packed to the rafters at the height of the summer (July and August) and winter (December and January). Favorite places to stop for a few drinks include Kama Sutra, Musro Bali and Apache Bar.

Kuta also has a quieter side. Made’s Warung Kuta and Mama’s German Restaurant favor good food over party atmosphere, and there are plenty of high-end venues on hand. Maccaroni and Ma Joly are just a couple of these. The same goes for hotels in Kuta / Legian. Head up north from Kuta Beach toward Legian proper, and a quiet, more exclusive atmosphere sets in.
