clean and nearby tourist attractions ”
The hotel is clean, near to train and bus station and 7-11. Walking distance to some tourist attractions, the only con is there is no lift in this hotel, so it is tiring to carry luggage up and down to the rooms. It's glad that they allowed us to leave luggage at the hotel earlier b4 check in and helped us to bring up to our room when we were back to hotel at night.

Great Budget Hotel and Location”
Thumbs up. This is a great budget hotel option in Kyoto, particularly if you get a good deal through Agoda. The hotel is older and not fancy, but has everything you need for having a fun stay in Kyoto. Check in is at 3pm and they didn't have the option of checking in early when I arrived around 1pm, however you can store your bags there early and if it's check in time before you come back to the hotel, they'll drop your bags off in the room. I thought the service was great and everyone that works there was incredibly helpful and accommodating. The front desk associates when I stayed there spoke basic English, so checking in wasn't a problem, nor was asking questions about sightseeing in Kyoto. The hotel is in a great location, near the Modern Art Museum, the Kyoto Municipal Museum of Art, Nanzen-ji, and a 15-20 minute walk to Gion. It's also close to Higashiyama Station on the Tozai Line. You have the option of a Western style room or Japanese style with a tatami mat and futon. I stayed in the Japanese style room, which was compact but fine for me as a solo traveler. The restaurant serves both a Western as well as Japanese style breakfast, which I really enjoyed, particularly for the price (I think it was 1000 yen). Other notes: good wifi, washer and dryer in the building, and a nice hot bath (spa). Definitely a solid choice while staying in Kyoto.

Little cosy economic hotel with wonderful location”
Our 6 nights here in Kyoto Travelers Inn Hotel was wonderful. First of all, the hotel is comfortably located in the Higashiyama area, right besides Heian-Jingu Shrine and the Nanzen-ji Temple. The bus stop is 3 minutes away. There is even a 7-eleven store just around the corner. The staff have also been very friendly. They offered us help whenever they could and they were very thoughtful. The room was Japanese style (this was my first time staying in a Jap style room), a clean and cosy one. But I think they also have Western style as well. There was no elevator in the building, but we could deal with it given it was only a 4-story building. If I ever have a chance to return to Kyoto, I would definitely consider picking this hotel again.

Great hotel, great location, enjoyed the onsen ”
My wife, ten year old daughter, baby and I stayed at Kyoto Travelers Inn for two nights. The triple room suited us well and the location was really convenient for Heian Jinggu, Chion In and other sights and the nearby hills where I went running. There is a 7-11 very close to the hotel which is handy for food and drink and the stroll down the little river to Gion is very pleasant

Great hotel”
All of them were kind and tried helping me. Rooms were always clean and neat. Wash room was quite small but they have public bath in the basement. You could enjoy oncheon (Hot bath) and relaxing. Good location to back and forth to several attraction. Cherry blossom in front of the hotel was the best and better than any other place during my trip. For sure, I will stay Kyoto Travelers' Inn again.

Great location!!”
Kyoto Traveller's Inn is a clean, comfortable hotel extremely well located near the temple area of Kyoto and other major sites such as The Gion and Covered Shopping streets. Transport, good food and great walks are all easily accessed. Breakfast is great value and filling. You can also enjoy a hot Japanese bath in the hotel's public bath, a must after many hours of walking the nearby colourful and interesting streets. The staff are very obliging and always ready to help. We were there in high season so it was expensive but we will stay here again at another less popular time of year.

Nice hotel in great location.”
The Kyoto Traveller's Inn was a very nice place to stay. It's name sounds like it is a hostel, but it is an actual hotel. The location is really great, enabling you to walk around many of Kyoto's famous temples without much effort, and also very close to Gion for eating out or the nightlife. Free internet in the lobby and helpful staff (they do not all speak english, but they do their best to help you) and proximity to busstops that tour you around or get you to Kyoto Station is a definite positive.

Kyoto Travelers Inn March 2009”
We really enjoyed our stay at Kyoto Travelers Inn. The staff were very friendly and helpful and had good English. One example was our fridge was broken - we called front reception and they immediately came up, took the fridge away and brought back a brand new fridge! The location was perfect for exploring the Higashima area, and it was easy to get around being close to bus stops. We also enjoyed the Japanese-style room.

Nice location”
Travelers Inn in Kyoto is a very good hotel to stay, though it is a little out of the way to get to. Nonetheless, it is in a good location near bus stops, in a quiet neighborhood, and near museums and temples. It does have a restaurant but did not eat there so can not vouch on quality of food. There are not too many restaurants nearby but most the time you're out and about in Kyoto so can find one easily while sightseeing. The staff was super friendly. The hotel was neat, clean and well worth the price.

Great Stay at a Reasonable Price”
This is a very reasonably priced place to stay in Kyoto for the budget traveler. It is in a great location (city center) and walking distance to the metro, temples and food. Staff was very nice and rooms were clean. Each room has its own shower and toilet, so you don't have to share with your neighbor. There are no beds in the room because it is a traditional japanese style room and there are soft fold out mats that you sleep on. All in all it is a great place and I would highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't need the luxury overpriced amenities across the street at the Ritz.

Recommended for Budget Travellers”
Overall, it is a very good stay in this hotel. It's a distance away from nearest subway, but bus is easily available here in Kyoto. The hotel is located by the rive where all the beautiful trees are. The best thing about the hotel is the bicycle rental service. We rented a pair of bicycle and cycled around in Kyoto area. Will definitely recommend to all my friends visiting to Kyoto with small budget. Do remember to go for the Japanese style as the room we got is quite big.

charming and homey hotel”
the hotel is not exactly near Gion where the sight really is but the hotel itself is very charming. We got a japanese room although you can have a choice of a western room. The japanese room basically is sleeping on the floor but they have provided mats that are very soft and comfortable so we had a nice goodnight sleep. Expect the typical japanese toilet. No lift so you will have to haul your luggage. downstairs is the charming coffe shop. Hotel is clean. staff is very friendly.

Good location, nice room”
The location of the Kyoto Travelers Inn is very close to the Silver Temple, Philosopher's Walk. It is also very close to a bus station and subway line for easy access to the rest of Kyoto. We only stayed for 1 night but thought the room was very comfortable. It was a Japanese style tatami mat room with futons--Small but nice. They did not have a non-smoking room, but I didn't notice much of a smoke smell. The elevator was not working and we were on the 4th floor, and the hallways were smokey. Other than those 3 cons though, I thought it was a great value. We would stay there again.

Nice place”
This place has all the advantages of a hostel and hotel. You can eat breakfast downstairs (they sell both Western and Japanese breakfasts) and you can do your own laundry. On the other had they have individual rooms, maid service and all the other usual aspects of a hotel. It was quiet too. It even has public baths (one for males, one for females). The location is not bad either (about a ten minute walk from the subway, if you are arriving via Kyoto station). It is not luxury, but it is comfortable and nice. I would stay here again.

Perfect location”
On our first visit to Kyoto we stayed near Kyoto Station which was great. For our second visit we chose the Higashiyama area and discovered the Travellers' Inn. We found the location perfect. If you come out of the front door and turn right it will lead you to the Path of Philosophy; a walk by the canal, best done early in the day, visiting numerous beautiful temples, shrines and their stunning gardens along the way. The bus stop is literally a 2 minute walk from the hotel in the other direction and it's a short ten to fifteen minute ride, depending on the traffic to the other main attractions in the area. Staff friendly and attentive with good English and a useful map provided in the rooms and also at the front desk. Western and Japanese breakfasts both good though we were not quite sure what to do with the practically raw egg you got with the Japanese breakfast! Western rooms a trifle shabby but very clean. Overall, a good experience and we enjoyed our stay. They are quite happy to keep your bags for you when you check out at the end of your stay till you return for them after further sightseeing. Public baths were good too.

Plain and Simple”
i had a great time here. we made last-minute reservations and didn't show up for check-in until 11 pm, but the staff was cheerful and helpful. the front desk was always manned, so if we ever needed to borrow anything or ask directions before heading out super late, they were there. japanese-style rooms were very plain, but clean, warm, and well-maintained. public baths were clean and well-kept up, though only open after 3 pm. our only complaint was the location. it's across the street from the museum of modern art and a few of the shrines, but very far from kyoto station, gion, and the bar district. there is a nearby subway station, higiyashima i believe, which will bring you closest, but we didn't know that on our first night and took a few expensive taxi rides. overall, a very nice decently priced basic hotel.

Great small friendly hotel in good location”
This hotel has a great location with good subway and bus connections to Kyoto's excellent system, and is also strong walkers' distance of the whole east side and downtown Kyoto areas. The Japanese style rooms are nice tatami rooms with compact private bath, refrigerator, air conditioning, and hot pot for tea. There are convenience stores and several good places to eat nearby. The staff was very helpful; even gave me an ethernet modem in my room so I could work in mornings and evenings!

Good location for budget hotel”
Somehow the hotel is almost always full, but we managed to sneak in one night stay there. Good location, easy to reach some of Kyoto's best attraction, i.e. Gion area and Kawaramachi. Bus stops just around the corner, but at busy times, quite hard to get into the bus, especially lugging around with suitcases. Very friendly staff would let us put aside our suitcases after checkout while going around Kyoto before our departure time. Things to complain, maybe that they don't have working elevator, but the staff eager to help us carry suitcases up the stairs to 4th floor where we stayed.
