Place is really clean (including the common areas/bathroom). Located 5minutes walk to the nearest train station. Price was very cheap as well.

                “Mixed Experience”

I stayed here so long ago, but my memories of it are so vivid. The good points: A kotatsu is upstairs, and the hostel is minutes away from a station, The bad points: The futons are meh. I slept terribly here. I would always wake up with a sore back. A peeping tom got arrested here because the women's bathroom doesn't really have a secure door. Anyone can just walk in there and take photos or video of people showering . . . GAH. I even realized this the first time when I went upstairs towards my room. It's a better idea to have a door and for women to have a card key to access the bathroom. I was helped the first time by one of the female workers with my luggage. However, at the end of my stay, the male worker that was there on my last day didn't want to help me. I asked politely, but he rejected. He seemed busy, but it wasn't going to take that long, I swear, to help me with my luggage. Instead, I asked a male guest to help me and he did kindly. It took him less than 30 seconds to get my largest bag down. If you do come to this hostel and want to explore Kyoto, just buy the bus pass. It's cheaper despite it being a little more time consuming. Have fun at Arashiyama and go to Kiyomizu Dera.

                “Super clean, affordable. ”

Cleanest hotel, hostel I’ve been to. Great value. Close to subway but the neighborhood is boring other then the nice walking, bike path along the river. Downside: quad rooms with two bunk beds are nice but tiny. You’ll have to step over luggage to get to the bed. WiFi signal in room was poor.
