Fantastic stay”
We had a fantastic stay at Kyoya Ryokan, not least thanks to its owner who does a magnificent job running the place. We were warmly welcomed and we enjoyed not only the onsen, but also a delicious meal with Nagoya specialities and had breakfast twice (different each time!). – When going to Nagoya again, we will definitely stay at Kyoya Ryokan – which is also conveniently located between the castle and the station. Furthermore we also liked the Endoij shopping passage just around the corner, a picturesque gallery which nicely mixes the traditional with the modern.

Great place to stay”
The Kyoya Ryokan is a lovely place to stay. Hiroshi, our host, was most welcoming and friendly. The garden is beautiful and the bath house an added bonus we weren't expecting and unfortunately didn't get the opportunity to use but we did have a look through it. Our room was very clean and tidy with a lovely atmosphere. I'd say the rooms with a garden view would be even better. If we'd been staying longer we'd have booked one of them and it would have been nice to enjoy a meal at the Ryokan too. We did get a great recommendation from our host for a food bar close by and had wonderful food, excellent service and enjoyed our time there for our one meal in Nagoya. Our visit was short so we didn't get to use the full facilities of the ryokan as we would have liked. Pity we hadn't booked a few days rather than just overnight. The garden really is superb. Fantastic traditional Japanese Inn with dorms”
I had a fantastic 2 nights stay at the Kyoya Ryokan inn. It had really clean rooms, free internet with terminals and a rare treat, free limited printing. The rooms were extra clean and the service was good. There are vending machines inside which is convenient (as they always are in Japan) and a free green tea dispenser. The beds and bathrooms were clean and they always provided you with fresh clean towels and night gowns daily or upon request. There are also lockers outside and plenty of power points to charge your numerous devices. Although it is a little far from the city centre (but not painfully so), it is well worth the stay. It is also near the post office and a short walk to Nagoya castle which is a bonus.

The absolutely best place to stay in Nagoya.”
This was at least my 6th stay at Kyoya Roykan, the only place I stay in Nagoya. I first stayed here in 1999, and it just gets better. It is a 20-minute easy walk from Nagoya JR or a 5-minute cab ride, maybe 680 Yen. The place is totally traditional, so very clean and comfortable. The meals are perfect, the hospitality so very Japanese and the baths are wonderful-open 24 hours. In my opinion this is the only place to stay in Nagoya and it is very affordable. I look forward to my next stay there.

Nice Experience”
kyoya ryokan was a nice experience to me in nagoya. near jr station, was easy to get there. hiro, the main host of kyoya ryokan is a real gentleman, i had a delayed flight and i arrived after the last check-in hour, hiro open an exception so i could do a late check-in. kyoya ryokan is a confortable and clean place to stay in nagoya, and a great value for money.

EXCELLENT RYOKAN.. SURELY WILL STAY AGAIN ”
Really love this ryokan.. from nagoya station take a cab 1000yen to the ryokan to avoid lugging the luggage and finding the ryokan.. there is another train station which is nearer to the ryokan about 10min or less walking distance away.. i forgot the station name.. there is free bicycle you can use subject to availability for you to cycle to nagoya castle which is near by.. love the breakfast the ryokan prepare.. really love this ryokan, the food and hospitality!!

Beautiful accommodation with garden and an extremely friendly host. ”
The Ryokan is a 10 minute taxi drive from the station but you are closeby Nagoya Castle and the subway is also at a walking distance. The host is incredible: friendly, helpful and he does everything he can to make you feel welcome. Diner and breakfast were both wonderful, you really need to have both meals at the Ryokan. The room is spacious, clean and we had a beautiful view of the garden. The bathroom is small, but everything is very clean and well kept. I would definitely reccommend this Ryokan when you plan to visit Nagoya.

The Best Valued Ryokan Experience”
When we first arrived at the Ryokan, we were really impressed with the atmosphere and the service of this Ryokan. The location of the ryokan is good. It's close to the Nagoya Castle and there are bikes for guests borrow, which was great. The people there were very friendly, service-minded, and gave us very good recommendations for places to eat. There is a very good local udon restaurant nearby, plus a Family Mart. The highlight of this Ryokan is the public bathroom and the Japanese garden. If we come to Nagoya again, we would definitely stay here again. Arigatougosaimasu!!

Excellent facilities”
It was a beautiful stay at Kyoya Ryokan. The garden was marvellous as a scenic spot in a CBD district hotel/Inn. The room was amazing with its tatami mats and comfortable futon. Having a computer in the room was also an added benefit too along with having wifi in the ryokan. Overall great service and staff were very helpful.

Pretty Japanese style guesthouse with public baths”
Tastefully decorated Japanese style guesthouse that offered a comfortable and relaxing stay. The public Baths are especially worthy of mention as they were definitely a treat after a long day of hiking. For a solo traveller, I slept in a room of four, in futons. A little too close for comfort with strangers, but otherwise acceptable after some getting used to. Room was clean and comfortable, with television, refrigerator, closet and hangers and other amenities.. Individually, we were provided towels, and Japanese bath robes. Quite a walking distance from Nagoya station; about 20-25 minute at a leisure pace through all main roads hence pretty safe for night arrivals. Along the way, you will find no dearth of eateries, such as ramen, curry, beef bowls (yoshinoya), sushi shops, family mart, and a few Chinese restaurants. Will most likely stay here again if I return to Nagoya.

Hiro, the owner of Kyoya Ryokan, is a real master of Japanese arts, and his style and grace permeates every experience of staying in this surprisingly cheap but luxurious Ryokan. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a clean, inspiring and artful place to relax in.

Very lovely staff”
I love it a lot! The lady staff could understand English so it's all good. The elder gentleman staff may not understand much English, but he tries his best to understand, and is so friendly as well! The rooms are very clean, and the small public bath, free photo and gardens are lovely touches! Staying on the first floor, the little balcony is quaint and I like it! I didn't order food so I can't really comment on it. The only problem I have is location, as lugging a large luggage bag can be tiring. As I travelled during the winter period, rain can be a problem when leaving or going to the hotel as shelter is scarce (the most you could do is travel from Nagoya JR line underground, through the Unimall and exit at the Nagoya International Building). Very lovely place!

This is my second time choosing Kyoya Ryokan. The staff are nice and good at English and therefore no communication problems exist between us. The garden of the hostel is amazing too, I can say it's definitely a reason why I choose this hostel two times!

Quaint with Charm”
A city ryokan located 23 minutes from the subway and 16 minutes from Nagoya Castle both on foot. Love how it's tucked away, private and quiet perfect for weekend getaways. There's a small public bath and I had a room on the ground floor facing a beautiful zen garden with blooming flowers and variety of birds to greet you in the morning. My Breakfast was scheduled & served at 7am, had the whole dining room to myself, took my time to enjoy the serene view of the garden. They had recommendations for speciality foods within walking distance of the ryokan. Check out time however was a tad too early 930am! However, they did provide a *SMALL locker for you to keep your bag while you tour the city and come back to retrieve it at your convenience. Would stay there again if I had more time. Meanwhile, I would dream of it till my next visit!

Very nice place and welcome”
Once i chose this hotel , I never stay in Ryokan before, so when I came here it make me terrific!!!!. Although this hotel is a little far from train station but it is easy to come in. The first that make me impress is the polite reception and very nice service, moreover there can communicate in English and gave the useful information very well esp Mr Hiroshi. The room is quite clean and comfortable ,they provided any convenient facilities inside even Ukata , so they have free ice water and green tea any time that you want. Even when I want to buy or go where near the hotel they have free of charged bicycles for borrow. For the Onsen, open time is 5.30 pm til early morning of the next day, they separate for different gender. A very beutiful small Japanese style garden for take a photo. Fir the breakfast you can choose the time that you wanna excess, they provide the traditional japanese food and fresh brew green tea. When check out time. They have some gift set as snack for any guest. For this booking. I am appreciate in very nice service and place of this hotel So Very strong recommendation to stay here !!!

Big room, nice staff, different style of experienc”
Only one thing they need to improve is to put a map in their website to show people how to walk from Nagoya station to the hotel. It is actually quite simple but without a map you have to ask people. With luggage (snowing that day) I walked some 35 minutes. If no luggage I think max 20 mins (may 15). Taking a taxi from nagoya station to hotel is just below 700 yen. Overall is very good, big room, clean, helpful staff.

Almost secret gem in Nagoya”
It was simply wonderful, especially if you're into the Ryokan experience (even if you've never experienced it before--do some homework on the subject). I can't say enough about this hotel, it was one of the best experiences in our month in Japan. We came back 3 days later for more. Not your typical small Japanese hotel room. You'll love it, I guarantee it. You'll truly experience the Japanese way of life. We were there in shoulder season and there was no food service, but there is a dining room and I suspect that there is food service in high season. There's a convenience store a couple of blocks away where you can get good heat and serve Japanese food to heat in the hotel microwave and eat in your room, Japanese style, sitting on the floor. The hotel is high quality at a low price. If we're ever in Japan again, we're going to stay here for a whole week, just for the relaxation. You can't feel the full effect in just one night.

The location is easy to find and not far from Nagoya station. The room is very big and comfortable. The best is their breakfast. Their Japanese breakfast is absolutely great and worth a try. The only pity is that there is no hot spring in the hotel.

Good Price/Value Ryokan in Nagoya”
My family really enjoy our stay in this Ryokan. Since I know how to get around in Nagoya with subways so the location is not a problem. The nearest subway station is only a short 5 minutes walking distant away. There are many budget restaurants near the Ryokan and several convenient stores near by. very friendly and helpful. He speak good English as well. He even gave us the free voucher for Toyota Museum during check-in. I'll definitely stay in this Ryokan if I visit Nagoya again.
