L'armada has all the essentials budget travellers ”
My gateaway to Melaka recently was a very adhoc and spontaneous one. I made my booking at L'armada Guesthouse Melaka when I was on my way to Melaka itself. Made online booking around 9pm and I reached L'armada around 11.30 pm. Upon reaching the hotel my first impression was like, can I just check in to other hotel? Too quite and it feels creepy at night. Unfortunately, my first impression was a bit biased. The location was just nice. I met Hasan, a Bangladeshi manager who stayed at the guesthouse with his Japanese wife, Fatehah, and in charged at L'armarda. Very attentive, polite and friendly and very welcoming too! L'armada has all the essentials budget travellers could expect especially if you need only a place to sleep and wash. And the place has wifi too. In terms of cleanliness, it is super okay. Although the toilets are all on sharing basis but Hassan maintained them well. Overall, L'armada is super OK for the money I spent. I had a good time staying at L'armada. I swear.

value for money”
I am looking for the cheap room in the Melaka and i choose L' Armada Guesthouse. If you are solo traveller, this place is totally worth for your money. The room and the toilet is clean and comfortable. The location is between the interesting places near Melaka town. Next to this guesthouse have a "Kedai Mamak" that serve nice food and for muslim traveller, the guesthouse is in front of Masjid Kg Hulu. So well done L' Armada Guesthouse!

Good for the price”
With previous reviews saying this is the best guesthouse ever, I perhaps had unreasonably high expectations. It is located above some shops, with the door slightly hidden behind a tree. It is on the third floor and although there is a lift, it doesn't work. The rooms were clean and appeared newly decorated. There was a double bed and nothing else in our room. It had a large window with a view of the river. The room had a fan which was not very effective as the room got very hot. There was free tea, coffee and hot water all day. The bathrooms were clean and the rubbish bins appeared to be frequently emptied. There was a large communal room with TV and DVD, free DVD's, a fridge, toaster and drinks for sale. It also had free wi-fi connection. The location was good as it was just 5 mins walk to Chinatown and 10 mins to Little India. In summary, it is a good guesthouse for the price but the setting and the building itself were a bit of a disappointment. The facilities were very good though.

inexpensive, no frills. perfect base for adventure”
climb the four flights of stairs with your bags and be rewarded with a beautiful view of the melaka river. not all rooms come with the view so ask ahead if you can get a room with the window. the best room is the corner room no. 9 with two walls of windows - one that looks over the river into kampung jawa on the opposite bank, and one that looks into an empty car park with the itinerant fruit seller opposite. great as the breeze is, keep the windows closed during the night to prevent the mozzies! from here we saw beautiful sunrises and took early morning walks to have chicken rice balls at jonker. we also walked to kampung jawa to explore the daily trades of residents and cut our hair in the old school barber (8 myr). we walked to bukit cina, saw the hang li po well, did countless things on foot. we preferred walking with a face mask to keep out fumes, but it wasn't as bad as some other cities. stay here if you want the perfect base for an adventure.

L' armada Review ”
I live in dorm back in L'armada is quite cosy. Have a chance to meet up and talk with fellow travellers from oversea. The value for money for the dorm is excellence. Wash room wise is okay, but the dorm wash room is without heater well no worries, Melaka is hot by the way. Just keep in mind, do bring anti mosquitoes patch if you are sleeping in the dorm - I forget to bring it and maybe also because I sleep without my shirt on, so end up got a few bits the next morning. Nevertheless, great living experience in the dorm, do walk to The Shore and Jonker - is pretty near. Also cross the bridge to the back of the hotel to listen to the musical fountains - the show is as cool as L'armada owner =)

Great location, hotel and service with a smile”
It was a pleasant budget night stay for a first-timer like I do. I would say strategic location within 10-minutes walk to Jalan Bunga Raya, Jonkert Street, Xiang Ji Satay House at Jalan Portugis and Capitol Satay Celup at Lorong Bukit Cina. Helpful staff providing info/directions and the best part thanks to him we're able to get to the nearest bus stop to catch the town bus service within 10-minutes walk instead of getting to Jonker Street or SJK (C) Pay Teck Melaka to catch the bus.

A guest house with nice location and good price.”
actually i enjoyed being in malaka, and it was good to be in the guesthouse too, because it is located at a very nice spot where you can easily walk to places of interest. but the dormitory room(with a number of beds in the room) was really horrible, especially at night. because they've not got any fans or air-conditioners and it's still hot at night in malaysia, it is necessary to have all windows open for cooling the room. and i think many of you guys can hardly sleep because of a bunch of mosquitoes getting in through open windows. however, despite that problem, it is still nice and low-priced guesthouse, i think you can stay here if you are on your budget.

Good location and smart rooms”
hostel locates close to the city center and not far from melaka central. hotel locates on the 5th floor and lift didn't work. the owner helped me with our luggage. the room was smart with cooler fan but without blankets. breakfast was simple like toast and jam but it was. in the end of our trip the owner told us the easiest way to melaka central.

LIght & Easy”
I arrived at the guesthouse around 7pm and we had to call the staff by phone call since there was no bell. There was only one staff at that time and he was helpful with my check in. The staff even gave a room that had better view than the initial room that I was supposed to have. Although the room had no air conditioning, it was cold and comfortable. I had to share bathroom with other guests and there were two toilets. The toilets were multi-purpose. The first toilet was clean and acceptable; however the second toilet was quite dirty and not well maintained. Other than that, this guesthouse was comfortable and worth my money. It was cheaper than most hotels at Jonker Street, Malacca.

Very friendly, good location”
very good price and the room is clean, even if a bit old.. the location of this guesthouse is only a short walk from Jonker street, and all the Jonker walk has to offer. the only down side of this guest house is there is no lift to the 4th floor where it is located. But the friendly and informative staff make up for this.

good value for money and the host make you feel very comfortable! playstation, movies, sat-tv to watch football from back home was a great plus! close to china town and the melaka river lights up at night all in a safe hostel to stay in which has a bohemian laid back style. go there to find out!

I loved staying here, and I thought the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The place is within walking distance to all the main sights in Melaka, and the only downside is that there is no air conditioning. I would definitely stay here again.

Value for money, good location”
One of the cheapest guest houses in town, but nothing dodgy about it. It is what you pay for and a little more. First when you enter, you'll have to climb four flights of stairs as the guest house is located above other businesses. We found it completely worth it as we had the double room located at the corner of the building facing the river. This meant a beautiful view of the river, the bridge right next to the guest house and the Kampung Jawa area right across the bridge. However, admittedly, if you get a room with windows into the common area, it may be less spectacular, but room rates are also much cheaper. Sheets were clean but no blankets. Fan only. Don't open the windows if you don't want mosquitoes and are sleeping next to the river. Location is great. A nice stroll into Jonker Walk etc. It's also worth exploring Kampung Jawa, which the Western guide books aren't privy to. It's a lovely trek through a small village with self sufficient services - house hold goods, barbers, etc. We developed film on the cheap here too. Finally, the one staff at the guest house, Nash, who lives there 7 days a week, 24/7, is friendly and relaxed and gave us advice on taking local buses, etc. We loved it.

clean hotel with great location”
rooms are clean and staffs are very friendly, but very weak sound-proof of the room.can always hear people going in and out from the room during midnight. location is great, walking distance to most attractions eg. jonker street. overall satisfaction achieved, suitable for budgeted traveller.

A good deal for backpackers”
Cheap price plus privacy (compared to dorm room). No window but good enough for those who just look for somewhere to rest at night. Great location. Right next to Melaka river.
