My recent stay at La Carmela de Boracay was booked primarily for its unbeatable location and competitive pricing. It’s a very large and popular resort on the main stretch of White Beach, Station 2. If you are looking for a practical, central base right on the sand without a luxury price tag, this hotel should be on your list. Location (Excellent) The best part of staying at La Carmela is its access. Being directly beachfront is a huge advantage. You are mere steps from the famous white sand and clear water. We found it very convenient to walk to key areas: D'Talipapa Market for fresh seafood was just a short walk away. The bustling center of Station 2 (D'Mall area) for dining and shopping was easily accessible. The hotel sits on the slightly quieter end of Station 2, which offers a good balance—close to the action but not right in the middle of the loudest nightlife. Rooms and Accommodation (Satisfactory) We stayed in a Standar Room. The room was spacious, which was appreciated, and had the basic amenities: working air conditioning, a mini-refrigerator, and a cable TV. Where to set expectations: The room decor and fixtures are a bit dated, and the overall cleanliness, while acceptable, wasn't spotless. The bathrooms, in particular, show their age. We also found that in-room Wi-Fi often came with a fee and was quite weak, so plan to use data or the free Wi-Fi in the main lobby areas. Facilities and Dining (Average) The resort is massive and offers a few key amenities: Pools: The multiple swimming pools, including the one with the waterfall, are a major highlight, especially for families. They were a great place to relax when we needed a break from the sand. Lifeguards were consistently present. Dining: The buffet breakfast that came with our package was average. They offer standard Filipino and general breakfast fare. It fills you up before a long day, but it’s not a culinary experience to write home about. For better meals, we preferred exploring the many surrounding restaurants. Service and Staff (Very Good) I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel staff. Despite the large volume of guests they manage, the service was genuinely friendly and helpful. Check-in and check-out were efficient, and the guards and porters were always courteous. They were quick to respond to minor requests, which is a great positive for such a large establishment.
