A very friendly, helpful and well run hotel. Good location. Clean and spacious room. Very comfortable bed. 400 hard working and polite students on a three month work experience as part of their hotel and hospitality course meant everything was done in a thorough and timely manner. And with a smile. Disturbed Sleep ————————- 1. Noise from external early morning hotel work First night in the early hours of the morning heard sounds of what I can describe as sounds of building work being conducted out outside the building on the ground floor below our first floor room. (During the daytime this is actually taking place and can be heard as rooms on ground floor directly below our room are being renovated). Renovation work commences at 07:20 in the morning, sounds of drilling heard. Frequently heard loud bangs as objects were dropped throughout the night, sounded like planks of wood. And noise of a wheeled cart to ferry materials also heard being wheeled along through the long courtyard below our first floor window. Reported noise issue to hotel reception next morning and was advised to report matter if heard again to reception. They stated they would inform those concerned. A member of staff confirmed a trolley is used 24 hours a day to move bags of waste past our window. This was repeated again on the fourth night. Trolley heard at 05.24 being wheeled through long courtyard. Reception spoken to again next morning and advised of the issue. Much quieter in next early morning hours. Conclusion The hotel catering team move items and prepare for breakfast in early hours of morning before guests attend breakfast from 06:00. 2. Noise of humming motors of external air conditioning units heard within room whilst trying to sleep. Throughout the night the continuous sound of a mix of 144 small and large external air conditioning units humming motors running (not the one in our room as switched off) was heard in the room from the large long outside courtyard. 144 external air conditioning units counted in long and large courtyard area. Wearing ear plugs did not reduce the noise. 3. External noise heard within the room The large hole in the room wall to accommodate a small room air conditioning unit requires packing around the exterior sides of the air conditioning unit to dampen all of the external noise during night time to enable a good nights sleep. Currently the noise level heard within the room is similar to sleeping with a window open due to absence packing in place. This I ssue was highlighted to hotel reception on third morning. Immediately a member of staff attended the room (224) to investigate the issue. An alternative room was offered, but declined as the current room had already be allocated on the basis of requesting a room in a quiet area of the hotel complex. Shortly after a further two members of staff attended the room and fitted a new air conditioning unit and attempted to fill the gaps surrounding the air conditioning unit. Conclusion These actions reduced the external noise of the numerous humming motors of external air conditioning units in the large long courtyard being heard inside the room to some extent. Wi-Fi only available in hotel lobby (not in hotel rooms) ——————————————- 4. Wi-Fi signal signal only available in hotel lobby area. Wi-Fi is not available in hotel rooms. This is a known issue confirmed by hotel reception and was informed of issue during hotel check-in process upon arrival. The Wi-Fi connection is a hotspot and insecure. Conclusion Receiving a reliable Wi-Fi signal in all of the hotels rooms would be a simple issue for management to resolve if they wanted to address this issue. Assisted Breakfast Very good buffet breakfast. A suggestion - Pieces of fish without bones should have been provided. Pieces of chicken without bones should have been provided.
