La Residencia Al Mar Hotel
Just 10 min from the sea port.”
Everything was okay but the hotel is quite expensive for the standard of the room. We stayed at room 209 the shower is so slow luckily we decided to book only for 1 night.Breakfast was okay typical filipino food.Good thing is the location is quite far from the airport but still okay if u want transit to sea port.I just feel that the hotel must need improvement with there customer service , more greetings more friendly and more welcoming with guest.
A classic hotel with a homey atmosphere. Don't expect an elevator though. And the rooms are quite dated. Also, the WIFI actually did not reach our room so we had to stay in the lobby or restaurant for better signal. Amidst all these, I still love the location with great views while having breakfast in the morning, and the fun nightlife along the boulevard.
Warm and friendly, but a cold shower”
The facility is very nice, the location is almost perfect, but this is the second time that I stayed in room 215 and I told them 2 months ago that the faucet in the shower was broken and only allowed hot water intermittently, but they still have not fixed it. I was very dissatisfied.
Location and food!”
the place is a very beautiful building located along the boulevard. beautiful view and nice location. you can stroll along the boulevard or watch the sunrise. nearby the hotel was shopping areas, malls and pharmacies all within walking distances. another highlight is the amazing steakhouse located IN the hotel itself. the steak was amazing and very value for money!
The help were all very nice and helpful BUT The water was always cold in the shower. couldn't get wifi in the room and the restarunt was over priced. No instant coffee in the room for the price the little things were missing. No hair rinse shampoo dispenser in the shower was faulty You can get better on the Blvd. for the same price
by the first 2 rooms the AC dident work proper and by the 3 room was the shower brocken.. in the i had a room to the bay... its to load to sleep from the traffic... all in all to expencive and bad maintaine
Good location, acceptable room”
Good for being on Rizal Boulevard by the sea but the rooms without a view are only good for sleeping. Otherwise it is too expensive. So, I would explore other options in the area unless like me you only stay for a day or two.
perfect to walk to the best restos”
Dumaguete is a small town. Best thing they boast about is food. La Residencia has one of the best Spanish restos. All the other best restos are alongside it where you have Casablanca, Sans Rival cakes & pastries, etc. It's a short walking distance to Lee Plaza mall and to the City Center. Staff are very nice...makes you feel so much at home. The only downside here is wifi and network signal....quite poor when you are in the room.
Great location but really needs a face lift...”
Can't complain about the location and staff were very helpful. Almost made up for the overall condition of the hotel. Almost but not quite... I think I could have gotten a nicer hotel for the same price. The place really needs a serious renovation and refurbishment. I think the overall condition makes it very difficult for the staff to clean.
Great location and decent hotel.”
Location is great and right on the Boulevard. Hotel is a little old - probably was a large house at some stage. Room is small but adequate, Sea view window is excellent. No lift is a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The restaurant on the ground floor is really nice with a good menu. Pricewise this hotel is good value for money and as such is recommended.
I'd suggest getting one of their 'high end' rooms. Our Deluxe Single room was listed as "no view", which was true, but it was actually "no window", despite the fact that the photos of the Deluxe room show rooms with windows. We checked out a day early because the room was small and had no amenities. Shower had insufficient water pressure to be useable. Large dead cockroach on the floor - better than a live one I guess. On the plus side the staff were friendly and the location is good.
Great location right in the heart of town”
Nice hotel with some old world Spanish style, different from the all too common faceless modern concrete blocks. Mostly rather small rooms; at the front they have a brilliant boulevard & sea view - 2 rooms with balconies, even! but noisy from the traffic; rooms at the back are much more quiet, but no views at all. Great Spanish-style restaurant downstairs; dozens of other eating places within walking distance. Breakfast (not included in room price) was disappointing. Coffee like dish-water.
not up to par.”
The bed was old and lumpy. No desk in room. The room was small. This was suppose to be an executive rental, what I got was an outright lie. The aircondrioner made the room to cold, thermostat did not work on it. I would not stay here again.
Value for money, located along the water front”
Good value basic hotel. Rooms facing the sea (and therefore the main road) will be very noisy. You need to inform the staff if you require daily room cleaning, although the staff are generally helpful and polite.
Not for me”
it's a short walk to the ferries and to the rizal boulevard walk. Hotel has the weakest wifi i have ever seen. Did not eat at the hotel but ate nearby and it was ok. Staff were just hanging out, not sure if they actually have anything to do. If i do stay here again it will be because of the location to the ferry, but it's a stretch.. highly unlikely
Okay for an overnight stay”
The best thing about this hotel is its location near the pretty boulevard that runs next to the harbour, lined with old Narra trees and lanterns. Enjoyed an evening walk along the pathway that runs next to the harbour with the lively night vibe. The hotel has an olde world charm but the room was quite small and had no view (I think others in the hotel face the harbour). The bathroom needs renovating - it was small and cluttered and the toilet was too close to the shower. The shower recess did not have a screen or shower curtain and the water went everywhere. Didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food. All in all it was okay for an overnight stay.
We were given the last room in the second floor. It was near their staff area so whenever the members of the staff were there, we can hear them chatting from inside the room. At night, our room was near the bar beside the hotel so we could hear the band playing until the wee hours of the morning. Otherwise, it's location was very accessible to the different restaurant along Rizal Blvd. Just step outside the hotel and you'll also be able to access tricycles, jeepneys and even buses.
Great little hotel, very helpful staff”
Faultless, in one word. The hotel stands apart from its surroundings in terms of design. It is situated on the promenade of Dumaguete. This affords many locals and visitors a paseo in the evenings which means perched on the little veranda of the hotel ample time for people watching with a cold beer. The hotel itself is small, quaint, well appointed although the the room (twin)I had was a little small but the AC was excellent, the en suite compact but it did the job. The dining room was well layer out and the tables set very well. (Although i didn't eat in.) The consierge was exceedingly helpful and attentive to any query or need I had. I travelled with a friend and only stayed one night but shall be returning shortly after a stay on neighbouring Siquijor Island. I heartily recommend this hotel.
The twin room we stayed in was solid. As the hotel is right at the mainroad maybe a room in the back of the hotel is more quite. the house looks quite old and could use some maintanance. Overall the stay was good.
La Residencia Stay”
everything were fine. location and staff. very accessible and the staffs were so accommodating and respectful. my only concern was our room. not so clean. matagal magdrain ang water sa shower area. the bowl has water stains.
