I went to KK for an interview. I bring along my brother as a companion and we decided to stay at La Viva Hotel and we're so happy to stay there. Their receptionist is very friendly, they allowed us to checking in at 12pm, the room is very clean, the AC works very well, they also have a TV, free wifi, clean bathroom and shower. The hotel is very near to Centre Point and Phillipine Night Market, you just need to only walk across the road. 24 hour KFC, 24 hour convinient stores and restaurant just behind the hotel. One thing to note, they are not providing shampoo, mineral water, iron and hair dryer. The housing keeping also not going to clean your room unless you inform them early before going out somewhere. The TV only have 2 channels which fine because you're not going to watch the TV as they provided a free wi-fi, remember? Overall, me and my brother enjoy our 3 days 2 nights stay in the hotel. Definitely will stay there again for our upcoming trip! Thank you for your hospitality, La Viva Hotel!
strategic location and helpful staff”
Oyo 216 La Viva Hotel is the strategic area which is surrounded by shopping malls such as centre point, Surya Sabah, imago and Wisma Merdeka. Guest is easy to buy any necessities and food .One I like the most is the reception staff. The reception staff is very friendly and welcoming. staff named RAFIQ has helped me with the problem of wifi line and air conditioning. The way his communicating is good and polite. He always smile and always put my needs first throughout my stay at this hotel. I hope that all staff have a character like him so that the guest feel happy to stay there.
Thank you for your sweet words, Adi. We hope to give you a consistent service every time. Regards, Jim
Price is reasonable with the accommodation provided, located strategically in the middle of Kk city ”
Affordable price, walking distance to main attractive places in Kota Kinabalu city, just 15 minutes drive to Kota Kinabalu International Airport, easy to travel by using uber apps, friendly and helpful receptionists, has 24 hours convenient shop at the ground floor just beside the hotel. Aircond has no remote, TV too obsolete and channels were not clear, no slipper provided, plug point to far from bed. Highly recommended for the solo traveller. 5/6 stars.
I can't remember how many time I have been stayed in La Viva Hotel. This hotel is always my chosen one because of the price. But, I got some issue regarding of the check-in at La Viva Hotel that mentioned on agoda the time for check-in os 24hours
recommended and affordable ”
I am greatly satisfied with the service provided for la viva hotel. Friendly counter attendent, fast booking , convenient and comfortable room , safety guarenteed , also it is much easier to walk around nearby night markets as well as located to nearby convinent shops. The room is comfortable enough, but a few maintanence shld be done fr the aircond fr a better comfy fr next customers. Overall, i am very happy and satisfied with the service given. Thank u.😊 will rates for overall 3.5/ 5 .
Great location CBD”
Location within the central business district of KK. Plenty of interesting point of interest around the vicinity and near the walking distance. The bathroom quite good as you would expected. The single room quite ample for solo traveler. The lighting for no window room is a bit dim, very little free amenities provided so you might wanna prepare for that. The door knob of my room is somewhat loose. Overall good i would recommend however it is 4 storey hotel/motel and no lift is available so be sure to check your room first otherwise you'll have to climb up and down with your luggages.
Last night was a bit dissapointed because my room its not clean.I found a cigarrete box and straw in my room. I love to stay more in La Viva Hotel because it was cheap and make me easy to go somewhere in town. But please take note about the cleanliness. Im not doubt to stay again.
Great queen room”
So far so good with roomy room. Nothing much to comment as it is something i would expected from budget hotel. Very close to central business district.
early check in”
i notify agoda about the time that i will check in early.. that will be at 5-6 am.. i arrive at 5.39 am.. and premise didnt let me check in because the room that i book was have a customer. and i will be permitted to check in only at 12.00 pm. if i know early about the time, maybe i will find another solution or, the La viva hotel should give me a temporary room for me to rest a bit after my long 12 hour on bus from semporna to kota kinabalu, because its not my fault, in the booking form, i've already notify them about the time i was expected to arrive.. sadly, i was forced to book another room by walk in considering that i have no place to go rather than check in in the la viva hotel..
Fair enough based on the price offered”
Facilities and room was fair enough for the price and if you got lucky can get a cheap price for single standard room same price with economy room but suggest for improvement need to tidy up the room cleanliness especially 5th Floor room and satelite rv found account inactive required to reactivate immediately and its sound like hotel not pat the bill actually but their announced they having a technical problem and lastly, staff are friendly and good but appreciated if more helpful to help guest bring luggage to 4th & 5th.
Thank you so much for the wonderful rating, As per the review, it seems that you are not completely satisfied with our services. Be assured, we have marked a note of this concern to ensure a comfortable and relaxing stay ahead :) Regards, Kevin
3 nights stay”
hotel is walking distance to Filipino market/seafood place (about 10mins walk) and also close to centre point and shell plaza (15-20mins walk). Aircond was cold and good. WiFi was on and off, not as strong. No lift, you need to climb a flight of stairs (not advisable for elderly, family with children and anyone with disabilities or knee probs). No toiletries provided, so you need to bring your own such as shower gel/soap, shampoo and toothpaste and toothbrush. They only provide you with towel. Staff was very friendly and helpful. English TV channel was only cinemax. Other channel were local channels. For housekeeping, you need to request. They will provide you hairdryer and iron upon request. Hotel is easy to locate. Room was averagely spacious for the price. Hot water was average..on and off. No sound proof, so you can hear cars driving by even on the 3rd floor. Overall, it was an okay stay.
Quite good place to stay but.. ”
Let me give a short review on this. Pro. 1. Staff is friendly 2. The hotel was placed on a very strategic place. There is a big mall nearby and food court. Cons. 1.The cleanliness doesn't meet my requirements. I found stains on my room's floor and my bedsheet. 3. The water does not strong enough. 4. Amount of deposit too high. That's all thanks
Great location but room was in horrible state”
Located in the centre of Kota Kinabalu town, but the disappointment of having to drag my big luggage up 4 floors was least expected and imagine if I was an elderly or disable traveler. I think Agoda should monitor this, if you need your client to climb stairs (please indicate it clearly on your hotel website). The big mirror in the bathroom was broken. The curtain rail was falling apart. The table in the room was broken. No water dispenser or no free mineral water. Overall a bad deal although the room price was OK.
From my experience, i book a queen bed room. For those who want a quiet room, avoid 101 & 102 because its too noisy of the traffic but that room have city view. The staff was nice when i asked to switch room to avoid the noise. They gave me 303, for that room the toilet have plumbing problem (slow flushing out), so better avoid that room. Hope they will try to settle that problem. Overall, i love the big space in the room. Recommended this hotel for those who's in a tight budget. Self service laundry and place to eat are just a walking distance.
Value for money”
I booked a twin bed for 3 nights. Location wise, it's right opposite Centrepoint, which is right in the middle of the town (15 minutes walk from the night market, 10 minutes walk from Gaya street, 15 minutes walk to Suria Sabah and additional 5 minutes to Jesselton ferry station, 20 minutes walk to Imago). In terms of room cleaniness, mine is clean (bedsheets, floor and toilet). Just only the noice from the streets does travel into the room, and also there are planes flying overhead (which is beyond the control of the management). Overall, it's value for money for a 3 stars motel.
I stayed at this hotel on 19hb and 24hb of July 2018 during my holiday to Sabah. In term of location, the best things about this hotel is near to laundry, food corner and easy walking around the city. But, the parking lot is quite limited. If you carry heavy luggage, its quite hard to go upstairs because no lift (which happen to me, unfortunate to get level 4 room then need to carry heavy luggage thru stairs). The room is comfortable and spacious, and the view from window is nice. If you're a backpackers, this hotel is definitely suitable for you.
Unfortunately, NO daily housekeeping. They don't take away the rubbish for 3 days. The room is not sound proof. At the middle of the night, you can heard some noise from outside. 1st night at this hotel, I was so regret & want to change the hotel but I can't (expense issue). No elavator. If you travel with young children, I'm not suggest the place. But the staff is very friendly & helpfull.
The hotel staff were very helpful. When we haven't bought the adapter yet, they allow us to charge our phone to their computer. There's just a problem with their WiFi on the fourth floor and no elevator also. The location is ideal since it's very accessible and near tourist attractions.
Room cleanliness should be improve ”
The room I checked-in on 3rd floor, the hotel do not have lift so you have to walk for few floor and the reception on 1st floor, not recommend for guests who have a lot of heavy luggage. The room I checked-in the first was clean with city view facing to the KK main road, but the air conditioning was not working, so the reception changed a room for me just beside and there are no view from the room, the room is facing to another building. The second room they gave me was not clean, and there are cockroach in the room, maybe this room is not for agoda guest but room cleanliness should be improve!
Very old and lousy hotel and it can ruin your mood. You better stay at other hotel.”
When I booked a hotel through Agoda, It is very rare for me to get an awful hotel. La Viva hotel is such an awful hotel. First of all, this is an old hotel. Meaning that all the hotel building, bed are old. I start with the hotel building. It is not clean with a cigarette smell at the hallway. This hotel didn't have a lift and if you got a room at 4th floor and carry heavy bag, then good luck to you. When I open the room, the smell is bad because it is an old hotel. I was so shocked when I see a cockroach in my room. To my surprise, the bed is suppose to be king size but the mattress is queen size. It looks very ugly. My stay at La Viva is not a pleasant experience. So, if you need to stay in Kota Kinabalu, please choose another hotel.
