Clean comfortable rooms, Lovely location, ”
We had a great time at the Lady horton bungalow. We were served some hot tea and biscuits when we arrived and were shown to our room. It was a nice large room with comfortable bed and clean linens. The caretaker went out of his way to make our stay comfortable even waking up at 5AM to prepare our breakfast before we took off to horton plains. He even arranged a van to take us there and back. The breakfast served was nice. The views are great that of lake gregory and mountains. Its walking distance from the Lake Gregory park and we did enjoy our evening walks to the park. Since this is a bungalow it was like a home away from home feel and we even were allowed to use the kitchen to prepare our dinner. We would recommend this hotel for people looking for a quite place to relax in Nuwara Eliya. Thank you for the great hospitality.

Incredible Experience”
My family and I had an incredible stay at the Lady Horton bungalow and it was easily one of the highlights of our tour around Sri Lanka. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a steaming cup of tea and refreshments courtesy of our extremely friendly and helpful house keeper. Mohmed really went out of his way to make our stay in the bungalow enjoyable, sorting out our transport and providing us with tips on where to visit. One of the things that stood out were the majestic views of Nuweraeliya and Lake Gregory afforded by this idyllic location, which was a treat to wake up to every morning. Our children enjoyed playing in the garden and visiting the strawberry farm next door for fresh jam and strawberries for our evening meals. We were treated to delicious authentic Sri Lankan breakfasts in the morning which we sorely miss having returned to Australia. Finally our stay at the bungalow was extremely comfortable, owing to the many modern amenities and luxurious furnishings which created a very fresh ambiance. Thank you for a delightful stay and we will definitely recommend your bungalow to our friends !!

Nice place to stay..but not the weather”
We enjoyed our stay at Lady Horton..unfortunately the weather was not nice, and it was very cold and humid (please think about taking real sweater when you go to Nuwara Eliya.) Unless that the room are nice and the bed is good. The housekeeper helps us with nice tea and electric heater.. The evening food was very nice and the breakfast is more than satisfactory.

Amazing experience - more a home than a hotel”
Absolutely enjoyed the two nights stay there even though the weather was horrible: been rainy and windy for the whole two days and nights! but the stay in Lady Horton made the time still enjoyable and always memorable. We really want to thank the caring carekeeper who took good take care of us, and the nice owner - even though we just talked to on the phone. They've done a great job to keep the house as cozy as possible. A story must share - when we wanted to walk to the town in the evening, the carekeeper even talked a bit with us to make sure that we took the right path - and it was raining. The weather was very unfortunate and we were only able to see the lake just before we checked out - when the fog finally off set a bit. should be nice views as well imagin on a sunny and nice day! Surely more than happy to recommend this hotel to friends!

Colonial-era quaintness”
The "bungalow" itself is a very large,1940s-built property on a hilltop towards the southern end of town overlooking Lake Gregory. The building, which looks a bit like a big orange wedding cake, been divided into two at some point, and this guest house occupies one half and has five rooms to rent. You can see the lake from the small windows in some of the upstairs bedrooms but the view is obscured by newer, neighbouring properties. We were the only occupants when we arrived, so we were given the main family room, which is a bizarre, split-level affair with a mezzanine level almost like a minstrels' gallery - one double bed downstairs and another upstairs; both comfortable. Don't descend the wooden ladder from the upper level while wearing only socks - it is very slippery! Heavy wood panelling and quaint, retro furnishings (common throughout the guesthouse) make you feel as though you have stepped back in time to colonial-era Ceylon in about 1946. Personally I think £36 a night was a little overpriced, especially as breakfast was 500 rupees per person on top. This may be average for Nuwara Eliya but it seems more expensive than other guest houses I have visited in the Hill Country. But if you want to step back in time to the era of the British Raj, with tiffin at 4pm and egg and soldiers for breakfast, this is as good a place as any to do so!! My only criticisms were the very outdated plumbing in the bathroom (hot water from immersion tank needed constant reheating to fill a bath, and there was only a hand-held shower nozzle). I was also kept awake by rainwater dripping from leaking guttering on to corrugated iron roof directly outside our window. Both of these minor gripes could easily be rectified.

Lovely Stay in a beautiful home”
We had a wonderful and relaxed stay at Lady Horton Bungalow. We were there for two nights. We were the only guests there. Saffran, the manager welcomed us and gave us an upgrade of the room so we can have a view of the lake. He was extremely nice and helpful and helped us a lot with everything we wanted to do while staying there. The husband and wife staff were also very sweet and helpful. The room was great and the living room, both upstairs and downstairs were comfortable. We felt like staying at home. Tea was served two times a day and we loved that. We highly recommend this place.

a hidden gem”
This was one of the best places we stayed at while in Sri Lanka. Staff was amazing - we asked the staff to change our room so we can have a lake view and they complied within minutes (no fuss at all). Rooms are very good, spacious with great view. Bungalow seems to be old but well maintained, staff was very helpful. In fact when we were walking down to the lake staff noticed us taking the wrong path, instead of shouting or even ignoring he rode a bike all the way to us to redirect. Breakfast was also pretty good in the morning. Overall a place worth staying for a family visit.

Comfortable stay ”
We were in a duplex room with an amazing view of the lake Gregory. Spacious rooms with our kids having their own space in the attic. The staff was very helpful. It is a cosy and beautiful bungalow that can be even better with a little better maintenance and upkeep. But, we will be coming back!!!

It was a truly memorable experience. Bala and Mohammad the house keepers are amazing people! They made us feel at home! The bungalow is an absolute delight to be in!. far ”
we spent quite some time looking for the hotel. it was located up on a hill. when we first arrived, we were welcomed by its staff which were nice and friendly and prepared tea for us. It was an old bungalow turning into a guest house. Set up was old colonial style but considering the humid weather, they keep it pretty clean. guests are allowed to use their kitchen facilities for own cooking. more for groups of friends/ family. due to its location, without transportation, it will be a long walk to restaurants, especially when it's raining. one thing to compliment, it has a nice view looking at the lake, especially when the sun rises in the morning.

Nice stay with an amazing garden at the hotel”
We were the only guests staying when we were there late April. The only staff there was friendly and tried to make us comfortable. Room was comfortable. The hotel is on top of a hill thus going down to the park and back to the hotel need some walking. Probably if you have a car or engage a driver will be good. I love the flowers that were blooming at the garden in the hotel. Not many restaurants nearby unless travel to the central area.
