    Lots of Space for Improvement”

I booked a Deluxe room because I read not so good review of the premise and mangement, in hope that I will have bigger space, better set up and more comfort. Unfortunately, as the Hokkien saying goes "Mai Hiam Beh Pai", If I had only left "half an eye opened" to see, the place is good. My sheets in my room is dusty and musty and my daughter had bed mite bites. My toilet had the ants' / wasp's nest, the wall on wardrobe area has a trail of ant's nest. The kettle was left there with wiring scattered and I think the mats hanging on the rack are meant for prayers. We didn't touch those out of respect. The sockets were all loosen too, which post a danger to the small kids. My consolation of the room was that it had a good view of the Lake. The Premise and surrounding is well kept to satisfaction. Cafetaria food has LOTS OF SPACE for improvement. The grass on the play ground can be trimmed further. Boat men were friendly. The Fauna and Flora as reviewed online are almost dead. On the whole, we had a good restful time. Chini is truly a lovely place to visit. Chini truly can make Malaysia proud IF we used that space of improvement lovingly.

    the stay was a let-down.”

    nothing.

my wife and i were the only guests on the day. the room was supposedly facing the lake but we could not see it. the view from the balcony was overcast by rows of trees fringing the lake. also there were some renovation works/earth works/excavation activities on the hotel site(incessant humming sound of heavy machineries could be heard from within the room). there were many vacant rooms available (of teratai type) with straight view of the lake from the balcony (unhindered by trees) but we were not afforded with the pleasure. the tv was not working at all on all channels. if i knew about this shortcoming, i would have brought along books to while away before bed-time. in consequence we turned-in early at 8.00 pm that night. there was no night-light provided. we had to use the bathroom light with the bathroom door left wide ajar over the night. the ac compressor which was sited right above the bed-head was excessively noisy throughout. when we checked out the next day, the lady clerk could not provide the bill citing that the booking chit was good enough. no supervisor was seen around to discuss things formally and intelligently.

Wonderful location - shame about the staff”

    location and trips

Location is excellent and rooms seemed ok - clean enough but no fridge. Temperature was exceptionally hot. Asked to hire a fridge - not possible. Restaurant was abysmal. Day 1 we were the only guests. Asked for an omelette - still waitng 50 mins later- discovered the waitress was trying to find out how to cook it herself because no cook was on du However she spent most of the time watching TV. No manager on duty either. Allegedly a supervisor was there but was never seen at night. Waitress then refused to respond to us for the rest of our stay. Spoke to manager next day who upgraded our room to VIP to get a fridge for us - good idea but shower room of VIP suite was dirty with mould in several places Staff also tried to provide some kind of non malaysian food but it was obviously outwith their skill set. However trips on the lake and jungle were good and inexpensive. Other europeans on day 2 also had trouble finding anything on the menu to eat. Foreign visitors should think twice about whether they can survive on purely basic Malaysian food for their stay - especially since there are no fridges to store anything

If I stay here again, I might as well bring my own comforter and pillows”

Overall, a very nice, beautiful and peaceful surrounding. Good food (tho not much varieties) and decent rooms. However, the resort was not properly maintained in terms of housekeeping. That's my only frustration. The night we arrived, the air condition leaked. I turned it off quickly as to avoid our bed soaked. My husband informed the reception and he was told, maintenance guy wasn't around. As the water wet our pillows, I was like trying to see if changing the pillow cases will be sufficient. Oh my God!!!! I was surprised to see that those pillows were very very filthy, full of stain marks or maybe even fungus? Well, that was how it looked to be. So, my mind had to worked very hard to forget what I saw and try to have a good night sleep, regardless.
