Nice looking hotel, clean room, noisy area.”
First impression was really good. Nice looking well located place. WiFi not working in room, week signal. No sleep ins, roosters and dogs in your head at 4.45 am( not incomes in this town), street music during the day, construction site right next door. NO rest unfortunately.
Excellent Value ”
For me, pillows are essential to a good nights sleep. The pillows at this hotel were top class and there were four of them. I was there for two weeks and found it very comfortable and nice. Very pleasant staff with a relaxed attitude, which is nice. They served me free Liptons tea whenever i wanted it and they organised my laundry for me at 10000 kip a kilo. It came back really nicely.I liked it very much, a little away from the center but that suited me as it it quieter.
Good hotel; beautiful wood.”
Beautiful high wooden ceilings. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Not centrally located but only 15 minute walk from night market and rivers.
Good: -the main receptionist is friendly (nobody else from the staff speaks English or even says hi to you though...) Bad: -the rooms are very dark, cramped and frankly terrible -VERY noisy!! The walls are super thin so you can hear your neighbor talking, watch tv etc. -the hotel started construction/repairs works banging the walls etc. after 7am in the morning almost every day, very nice surprise when we wanted to sleep in!!! -when we came back to hotel after a long day to rest, they were JACKHAMMERING the front yard a few meters from our room. When we asked about this, they said it's going to go on until 6pm, no apologies or nothing!! So do NOT expect any peace either in the morning or the evening.... -we stayed in two different rooms, and both had nasty COCKROACHES in bathrooms -far from the center where everything is. Based on other reviews it seems that there are bicycles that you can borrow, but the staff never told us about this!! -terrible breakfast. You'll find nice cafe's in the city if you can walk. -very expensive and bad value for the room. We paid around 30 EUR for the room. In Thailand you'd get a much, MUCH nicer room for your money. -motorcycle rent is very expensive and they require you to leave your passport (which is illegal. This is the same in every place in this town, real shame...) Luang Prabang as a city was quite a disappointing as a whole. The city is very, VERY expensive if you're used to Southeast Asian price level. Eating out costs same as in expensive European cities, for example a pizza was always 10-15 euros. Hotels are very expensive for what you get. The city itself is really small and boring with not much to see except for a few temples (and once you've seen one, you've seen them all). Impossible to rent motorbikes as they require you to leave your passport, and they cost around 15 euros per day. Also, read up on Luang Prabang scooter scams, it's a common problem there that the bikes are stolen and you'll have to pay for it
Excellent staff ! Clean, comfortable room . Amazing breakfast! ”
Stay 5 nights. Impressed with the staff service especially Ming! Helped to arrange tour and guide u tru! Breakfast was excellent and served at balcony. Free flow of coffee/tea throughout the day! It would help if Agoda would respond”
I arrived there and was told my booking was cancelled because they no longer work with Agoda. I was nver informed and had to find another place to go. I know nothing about this location since I did not stay; they were booked. The clerk, however, was very helpful in finding another place for me to stay that was excellent. I really want to know if Agoda is keeping my money for this booking.
Lovely hotel - highly recommend”
Really enjoyed my stay here and found it to be very comfortable, clean, friendly and in a good location. The hotel allows you to use their free bikes which is a highly recommended way of exploring the local area. Loved the breakfasts and the free coffee available all day. The staff were lovely, knowledgeable and friendly. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. Will be back for sure!!
We were thrilled by the staff at Lakhangthong, who assisted us with scooter rentals, free airport transfer, early check in, luggage storage and free bikes to navigate around the city. The free breakfast had many delicious options and was a pleasant way to start the day. Definitely recommend this hotel and know you will pleasantly surprised by the service.
Excellent hotel a little out of town ”
Lovely hotel with amazing staff. Only shortcoming is that it's a bit out of town so requires tuk tuks to take you into town. Nice and quiet with excellent facilities and staff happy to book tours and airport transfers etc. Laundry can also be done very cheaply. Highly recommend.
awesome place, great staff”
Great place just a little bit out of the centre. Quiet and the staff were amazing. The rooms were always nice and cool despite the hot temperature. And the free bike rental was very handy. Overall love my experience there And the banana pancakes were also amazing.
Experince to stay woody charming hotel with friend”
Stayed 6 nights from Jan10 to Jan 16, 2016. It was very corfortable stay. It was cold season, so I enjoyed hot water bothing after combe back from cold weather. Breakfast is nice and enough volume from varity of choices from banana pancake set to Lao style noodle. Thanks to Mr.Minh Guen of reception mager and stuffs, they are always take care. Tour arrange, Lundry service and no commission. Free bycecle, Free airport transportation. All of those sevices are nice to customers. If I go to Luan Probang, Ill chose this hotel agai.
Was a nice stay”
Recommended for good service and, nice breakfast serve, bicycle complementary to explore the city on my own way. Nice stay and I would love to go back again. But there are 2 comments here; 1. I was forgotten to be picked up from the airport, and the way back staff forgot to load my luggage into the trunk. Well that was my fault, but make sure you make a double check before leaving. 2. Staff came in to clean the room during the day, and they did forget to close with window properly. I came back in the evening, the room was full of mosquito.
Wood Interior, Clean, Attentive Staff”
This small hotel was a great introduction to Luang Prabang. The staff was welcoming and helpful. All the coffee you want delivered to the room. I found the wood interior and balcony particularly charming. The method of construction means the walls are thin. Fortunately the other guests were not too loud. I did not mind the trade off. The neighborhood is a mix of other guest houses and local residence. It made the balcony nice for watching the local coming and going in the morning. The elementary school is just down the street. Priced moderately and clean. Many thanks to the manager, Mihn, and his crew. They were not intrusive but always available and willing to give information and advise. I also stayed in a larger, more expensive and upscale property afterward. I found myself regretting the move, as it was lacking in the charm, as well as the cleanliness of Lakhangthong.
6 nights at Lakhangthong”
I'd originally booked in for only 3 days, and when I asked to extend that stay it was no trouble all. Everyone was very courteous and friendly and the hotel has a very relaxed, peaceful vibe to it. It was also immaculately clean. Having a healthy breakfast each morning on the balcony outside my door was a soothing start to each day. I would awake early, soon after sunrise to the distant sound of a rooster crowing. Peaceful. The huge bed is very comfortable and the weather was very pleasant in September, so I preferred to open the many windows and let the fresh air in rather than use aircon all the time. It's only a short walk down shaded streets to the main street and the markets too. I had a wonderful experience and I will come back for certain.
Welcoming & well located”
We were made to feel very welcome and treated with warm courtesy and efficiency our whole stay. A hitch at check-in caused by a current guest who couldn't check out because ill was dealt with deftly and to our satisfaction. Close to all the sights, peacefully quiet and with good, clean, up-to-date amenities.
An acceptable stay for our needs”
We enjoyed our stay in general. The layout of the hotel is very nice and the rooms are very spacious, and the somewhat off location is compensated by the bikes that are available for guests. The owner is very friendly and helpful, but his employees are the main downside to this hotel. They are very friendly and helpful, but they hardly speak any English at all although they will nod and smile and say 'yes' to everything you ask. This led to some misunderstandings that the owner had to solve.
This hotel looks great but unfortunately as it is close to the road the noise at times was unbearable, both from traffic & neighbouring restaurants. In fact we stayed only one night & asked to be moved to another hotel. The Manager was great about this, he found us another immediately. Maybe we were unlucky therefore it will be interesting to read any other like comments.
I really enjoyed my stay at Lakhangthong Hotel. The rooms are very nice, the bed was comfy and the location was good. The breakfast was good, too, and the portions were huge! However, the walls of the rooms are very thin, so pack your ear plugs. Moreover, the wifi was not working properly in my room. All in all, these were only minor inconveniences (and not everyone will have to put up with a TV-addicted room neighbor, watching game shows on high volume in the middle of the night). I would definitely recommend the hotel!
Great Hotel with friendly helpful staff!”
My stay here was super cool, if you want to stay in a hotel where the staff "go the extra mile" this is the place, they give you anything for breakfast, have a menu and the will let you have extras, I didn't even ask and received enough food to feed 3 people. I rented a motorcycle there, also they know everywhere and how to get there without being ripped off.
Stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Very clean and nice staff. Minh from the reception is a very friendly guy and is willing to help you with all your questions. The girl is also very nice to the guests and the manager is very professional. Great place to stay in Luang Prubang, don't look any further.
