Best of the Ao Wongduan hotels”
This was my first time time to Koh Samet and we chose La Lune based on good reviews and price. The hotel was good and clean, which os surprising considering the sand on everyone's feet. They are little foot wash pools outside the lobby that help. The restaurant was okay, but really shined when the evening came and they do a beach side barbeque each night. Delicious. This hotel tended to be quieter than its neighbors and my wife and I appreciated that. Plenty of other restaurants and mini-marts are within walking distance. The beach was good and wide enough when tide was down. Even when up, there was enough space for sun worshipers. The pool is clean and partially shaded at certain parts of the day. The staff is friendly and seem to work non-stop. So at least you can become familiar with them. I would recommend this hotel to anyone I know wanting to go to Koh Samet. We took the Cherdchai bus from Bangkok-Ekkamai to Ban Phe. Round trip tickets were about B320 each and takes about 3.5 hours each way. Once you arrive at Ban Phe you can walk across the street to Nuantip pier and buy a ferry ticket to Ao Wongduan. You have to wait until they have 20 people before they go, but its not bad. They ferry you to an initial pier, but you stay on the boat and they continue on to Ao Wongduan. Once in the bay, you transfer to a flat boat that takes you to the beach, with a charge of B10 per person. If you have trouble walking or getting around, I would recommend finding a speed boat that can take you directly to the beach. Transferring between the pier - ferry - boat - beach can be tricky. Once on the beach, you have to pay the National Park entrance fee, B40 for Thais and B200 for everyone else. So have some cash on hand before leaving the pier.
Resonable Price & Cozy Atmosphere”
It was quite good! I get really good memory from this trip! Ao Wongduen(in front of the resort) is not the most famous beach in Kho Samet, so shops closed very early (before 8:00 pm). But Still so nice! You can enjoy a kind of private beach in front of the resort and have a cheap and nice meal very in front of the beach. The way to go was also nice and the boats (speed or ferry) stopped in front of the Lalune beach resort. I keep this memory for a long time :)
Nice, new resort”
Lalune is a newly completed resort hotel on the beach at Au Wongdeuan, Koh Samet. A nice place with a swimming pool.
Pretty good overall!”
Pros: Wong duan beach is very pretty, crescent shaped, and is lovely because it is less busy. Many restaurants offer a barbecue on the beach Mini shop - next to lalune - lady speaks great English and has good recommendations about why to eat at the restaurants Omelets for breakfast!! - lady was so friendly!!! Cons: Staff has limited understanding of what you say - instead of saying they don't understand they just agree. I saw many people get incorrect food because the staff assumed they knew what the people wanted. ATM is not on premises FYI-not a big deal but their website advertises that they have one. Overall, if you can get a good rate for this hotel - it's pretty decent...beach is amazing, even in high tide...just don't expect to get to know the staff or make small talk unless you speak Thai...
Great hotel at a lovely beach location”
La Lune Beach Resort is a nice place to stay on Ao Wongduan bay. The rooms are nicely remodeled and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and makes for a nice stay. The beach is down the way from the more busy and popular beaches, but you can visit those during the day or evening and come back to your quieter and cozier La Lune resort.
Lovely hotel - close to an amazing beach! ”
I had an amazing time here with my family -the staff were beyond helpful and very friendly. I liked how modern and clean the hotel was with a great balcony to look over the pool. Very close to the beach and other great restaurants. Will stay at Lalune again!
Very nice, beach-front hotel with pool”
We spent five nights at Lalune, really enjoyed it. I'll break it down: room is clean and comfortable, very modern, though the bathrooms are a bit tight and the shower leaves a little to be desired. It is like living in Hitchcock's "Rear Window," as you can see everyone and they see you - close your curtains. TV has ten channels, mostly news or Thai, breakfast is quite basic but okay, wifi is almost non-existent. But the beach is great, the staff are quiet but friendly, and they have the cheapest "SINGHA BIG" on the beach. The pool is great for a cool down or a great alternative to the Gulf. This I will say: we never ate dinner there. Doesn't seem like anyone does. They should stick to the drinks, not the food. Seahorse 2 was our favorite for food, Blue Sky the best place for sunset drinks.
Our umpteenth visit”
We've stayed here almost every time we've been to Samet as Ao Wongduan is our favourite beach. The sea is crystal clea, the waves aren't huge and there's no sea urchins. The rooms are also modern with very clean bathrooms and comfy beds. The food in an evening, sat on the beach, is really delicious - especially the BBQ fish. The negatives remain the same as all our previous stays: the breakfast area is small and if the hotel has been full, it's cramped in the morning. Also, the hotel caters for Thai company 'team building' weekends, and the groups can be very noisy. Finally, as the hotel often has friends sharing, and not couples, all the rooms have twin beds which just get pushed together for a couple. They're lovely comfy beds, but difficult to sleep in together as one person inevitably falls down the middle.
Great Location for a Getaway”
Planned a getaway from the usual Bangkok to a quiet place and Samet definately was it. Booked Lalune and was one of the more better looking hotel on the stretch and provided very good coverage of tours and services to ensure guests are comfortable. Had the best time ever
A nice beach and a friendly staff ”
Lalune is a newbuilt hotel just by the beach. It´s Clean and have a friendly staff who loves Children. We came to the hotel on a Friday and it was invaded by weekendtravellers from Thailand. Felt like a Thai-Ibiza. Much nicer on Monday when it was calmer and less people. The pool was nice but the Asians swim with their clothes on wich I don´t Think is ok. The breakfast was ok and the hotel had sunbeds on the beach. Lot´s of boats and jet-skies by the beach and some rubbish in the ocean. The hotel didn´t have an outside-shower which they should have. Now, all the sand from the beach followed U into the hotel. The room was very nice and Clean.
Well-located hotel on a lovely beach”
We paid for an extra bed, which turned out to be the divan/sofa which all the rooms had and the hotel just provided bedding for. I felt that the addition fee was excessive. My son complained that it was very hard and uncomfortable. The room really is too small for 3 adults. Another negative is that the wifi didn't reach our room. The breakfast seemed to be aimed more at the Asian palate, although the fresh fruit was delicious. On a positive note, the location is fabulous. We arrived by speed boat onto the beach (quite beautiful at night with the coloured lanterns) and just a few steps later we were in the hotel reception. The pool is lovely, and the beach itself is beautiful. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful.
Great Place to stay at KohSamet”
Really enjoyed relaxing between the pool & beach, good loungers, good seats & loungers on the seaview balcony where you could also eat & drink. Pool, gardens & rooms are very clean, staff are really friendly & helpful, Great breakfast, good dinners / barbeque on the beach. Food & drinks reasonably priced. Near to other beach restuarants & bars. A little expensive but a great place to stay, excellent layout, pool area very private from non guests. Worth the extra money.
We stayed in the building behind the main one. Quiet and cozy place. But there are many tourist groups from China in the main building. The beach is center of island life: many restaurants and entertainment. Beach, however, is not nice for swimming. We recommend nearby Ao Nuan or Ao Pai for swimming and Ao Vongdeuan for fun
New hotel directly on the beach, great staff!”
The hotel staff are very friendly and seem to be proud of working in this new hotel. Several of them speak English better than in other Thai hotels in this price range. Rooms are new and clean with water boiler (free coffee and tea) and hair dryer. Showers have warm water. During the day the hotel supplies beach chairs. During the evening they have a barbecue with tables and chairs on the beach.
Great beach hotel”
The rooms are modern and very clean. The bed was incredibly comfy and the shower was nice and powerful. The staff, especially the main older lady on reception, were amazing during our stay. One of the staff even rescued us when our ATV broke. The breakfast buffet is where this hotel could improve. It's definitely edible, but we were almost prepared to miss it as there was nothing special. If you want to be right ont he beach (the best and cleanest on all of Samet) then this is the hotel for you.
Modern Clean Hotel”
We stayed at La Lune during Songkran. We didn't really want to stay in a typical hotel, but by the time we got around to booking all the usual places we stay were full. I feared with the 'U' design that this hotel was going to be very noisy during Songkran. I could not have been more wrong. It was dead silent (minus the nasty storms that came through). Our rooms were on the ground floor behind the lobby (no partial ocean view as described). They were incredibly clean. The AC worked great and the shower had hot water and decent water pressure. We didn't use the pool as it was always full of young children, but it looked nice and clean. The hotel has beds and chairs set up on the beach. They don't have staff helping you set up or move umbrellas, but we managed fine. There is a mini mart very close for water, beer, and snacks. We only had breakfast at the hotel which wasn't very good so we ate our other meals at neighboring restaurants. Many of the neighboring restaurants have fire shows. The Baywatch bar that is next door stays open late and that seems to be the only place open late on this stretch of beach. Quite different from our other stays on Koh Samet.
Nice and modern beach hotel on Koh Samet”
Solid beach hotel, modern standard which is not an easy find on Koh Samet. Room was nice and cosy, restaurant good. The only minus, there is no coffee shop at the hotel and they only serve instant or filter coffee.
Clean and modern rooms, close to the beach, a lot of restaurants around with different budget, easy assess to main beach of Samet by public taxi.
Great location, really calm place”
Beach just in front of the hotel, very calm place, wonderfull hot water, restaurant in front of the beach, can take breakfast with you're feet in water. Clean room, good beds, new furniture, new toilets. We needed medicine and asked reception they went for us at the local farmacy, and got medicine for us really appreciated it. we paid after gettind medicine.. should clean more the front beach because there are a lot of small waist not only in this part of the beach i would say everywhere along the beach and others hotels..
Lovely hotel right on the beach, nice pool,WiFi in room was a bit weak, but much nicer place than most on koh samet
