Stay: 28 December – 3 January 2026 Room: 406, Superior Sea View Hotel Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3*) Location Rating: ★★★★★ (5*) We stayed in Room 406, a Superior Sea View room. The room was spacious and clean, although a little tired in places. That said, it was still a real treat. Waking up each morning, opening the balcony doors, and listening to the sea with birds singing—combined with a fabulous sea view—was truly special. Breakfast was buffet-style and varied daily, with fresh fruit, cereals, an egg station, meats, a large bread selection, and a salad bar. My only downside was the coffee, which was fairly standard and below par. However, the breakfast seating more than made up for it, overlooking the ocean and providing a great start to the day. In the afternoon and evening, meals are served in the lower part of the hotel near the beach, and this was another highlight. The food is varied, offering both Western and Thai dishes. Everything we tried was very good and excellent value for money, with the added bonus of dining just steps from the sea—especially enjoyable in the evenings. The beach is literally four steps away. Sun-beds are positioned under trees, so there’s no need for umbrellas, and large bean bags are also provided for guests to relax on. I cannot comment on the bungalows set in the garden, although there are only two that face the ocean. The swimming pool looked great and very clean, with a pleasant area around it for relaxing. All the staff were fantastic and provided great service throughout our stay. I really have no complaints about the hotel itself. One downside worth mentioning is the beach area: two jet ski companies operate on either side of the hotel beach, which can create quite a bit of noise. If you’re looking for total solitude, this may not be the ideal choice. Personally, I didn’t mind—it added a bit of life and kept things interesting. Would I go again? Most certainly. What’s nearby? A short 100-metre walk brings you to Lamai’s main narrow road, packed with restaurants, bars, gift shops, 7-Elevens, upmarket dining options, and coffee shops. Local markets are scattered around the area, offering plenty of opportunities to spend your hard-earned cash. This was my first stay at this hotel, for six nights, and I found it to be perfectly located for both families and couples. Would I stay again? Yes.
