Excellent Accomodation..”
an excellent choice of accommodation indeed is Lamai Wanta. thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. location is excellent; just off the beaten track so you're away from the bustling main street but close enough to reach with a short walk. situated right on the beach itself so that the infinity pool leads right on-to the beach itself. staff were very courteous and friendly, and very helpful. room was adequate but could have been better equipped. pretty minimalist in terms of decorations but good enough. has a large balcony overlooking the greenery outside. perfect for relaxation. breakfast was ok. nice view and lovely wind as you look out on the beach during breakfast. overall it has been a lovely lovely stay and i would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Koh Samui! HOWEVER, BEWARE of the TRAVEL AGENCY manned by 2 ladies just across from the resort (Samui Air Travel). Having bought bus tickets that were suppose to take us from Koh Samui - Thai border for a very expensive THB2100 (for 2 pax). Had an extremely bad experience as they are dealing with this illegal travel agency called Maneenoi Group Travel Agency (BEWARE OF THIS PLEASE!!) they are operating without a license from TAT!! Their tactic is to scare/blackmail you into taking their TAXIs (which you will have to pay another few thousand Bahts extra on top of the already expensive price you paid for the initial ticket!) to get to your destination! They refused to bring us to the Thai border EVEN though we have already paid such a high cut-throat price for the transportation. Their reasoning: there is only the 2 of us traveling there so they WON'T send us until there are more passengers!! They want to blackmail us into taking their TAXIs and we would have to fork out an extra THB5000! we were brought around on a wild goose chase as they did not want us near their office as they start duping foreigners one-by-one with all sorts of lies!

The perfect spot”
I have traveled extensively to Thailand but this was my first trip to Samui so I wasn't sure whether to stay in Lamai or Chaweng. Based on Agoda reviews I picked Lamai and I am so glad I did! Chaweng has a slightly nicer beach but aside from that, Lamai is the place to be if you are looking for a beautiful, peaceful stay but still crave a little night life. Lamai Wanta is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at in Thailand. If you want stunning sunsets that you can view right from the pool or adjacent beach this is the spot. I chose a Superior Room which for me, my wife and daughter was perfect. The rooms are simple so if you are looking for coffee makers, hot water dispensers, in-room telephones, etc... then do not stay here. On the flip side, the rooms are simple yet clean, the moring breakfast is made to order and the chefs are EXCELLENT! You have your choice of meals up to 195 baht which is more than enough to fill you up and you don't have to wait in line for the left-over buffet-type meals that are usually sub-standard at most hotels. Also, and this is a big bonus, the morning breakfast runs from 7am to noon! Yeah, noon is perfect for those nights you stayed out too late and want to sleep in. Just get up before noon and enjoy brunch! Lamai Wanta is a good place to stay for both families and singles alike. There are the usual girl bars but they are not overwhelming like Pattaya or Bangla Road in Patong. 7-11 and Family Mart are a block away. Local Thai food, massage, motorbike rentals are all in walking distance. What more can I say? This hotel is a winner given the location, accomodations and reasonable prices!!! I will definitely book here again and again!!!

Convenient and affordable location on the beach”
We stayed in Koh Samui to relax on the beach after a stressful and exhausting time in Siem Reap and Chiang Mai. We loved the beach and the comfortable room, however we were a little put off by the whole Lamai area. It was full of European tourists and cheesy bars which were not our style. We found some good places to eat in town but were generally tired of the whole area. We did love the beach and spent most of our time relaxing in the water and getting cheap massages. We also took a cab to a waterfall and hiked to the top to swim in the cool water. It was a great addition to the beach and I highly recommend going to one of the beautiful waterfalls in Koh Samui. We happily avoided the elephant and wildlife shows and hiked along the waterfall for free, finishing off with a wonderful dip in the cool water. Lamai Wanta Resort was a great hideaway from the craziness of Lamai and I would probably stay there again if ever in Lamai again.

Highly recommended”
This is our second time back to Lamai Wanta, and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Samui. The location is perfect. Walking distance to many restaurants and the awesome Lamai Night Market. Plenty of sunbeds around the pool. The beach is perfect.. with Lamai Wanta having stinger nets in place in the water for safety. We went to many beaches around the island, but Lamai was the best for swimming by far. We stayed in a Garden Villa this time. Spacious enough with a large bed, sofa, desk, fridge, tea and coffee facilities replenished daily, as well as plenty of bottled water supplied. Our aircondtitioner broke down during our stay - but management were onto it immediately and most apologetic. They kept us updated and offered for us to change rooms instead of waiting. When we told them we were happy to wait, they gave us a voucher to use in their restaurant! All the staff are very friendly and accomodating. Highly recommend Lamai Wanta.

Very relaxing and peaceful!”
Lamai Wanta is an amazing place for couples, families and singles who look for a calm, relaxing and peaceful vocation. Lamai Wanta is a pretty and quiete hotel, which is surroundedby tropic plants. It has a direct access to Lamai beach: quiet (not loud as Chaweng), clean and wide beach. The hotel has it's own excellent restaurant, which is worth visiting even if you are not staying in the hotel, and a massage "center" in front of the sea. But in my opinion the most valuable asset is the staff! During my staying in Lamai Wanta, I have injured my leg in a motor-bike accident and the reaction of the staff was just amazing!!! They helped me to get into my room (carried me on their shoulders), brought me the breakfast to my room, reserved a room for me in the first floor and let me use their PC for my own needs. And all this was done with patience and smile. They were so helpful, polite and friendly that one can not ask for anything better. I would definetly like to go back, and I suggest to everyone to stay in this amazing place.

Nice Location”
our room was sparce, but sufficient and clean. it had a tv, air conditioning, 2 single beds (a bit too firm for our taste). no phone. breakfast was included at the adjacent restaurant right on the beach, and was a buffet. very good food. the pool was a bit small, but right on the beach. water was warm and easy to swim in. there were enough sun chairs for everyone, and a towel service as well. just steps down the beach were restaurants and bars, and just 2 blocks in the other direction (away from the ocean) was the hustle and bustle of town. mostly, it was quiet, however late each night (between 11pm and midnight) folks would let off very loud fireworks, which scared the hell out of us, and kept us up. also, once night a neighbor came home and was incredibly loud at 2am (very thin walls between the rooms) so we had to pound on the wall to get them to be quiet. staff was nice, and accommodating. they even packed us a breakfast box to go when we had to leave at 6am on our last day to catch our plane. this hotel was the most expensive we stayed in during our 2 weeks in thailand, and not the nicest, but the location was good and the price was actually one of the lower prices we found for lamai. if we ever returned to lamai, we'd stay at the lamai wanta again.

Awesome resort on the beach of Lamai”
We loved Lamai Wanta Beach for the week we stayed there. The resort has a magnificent location on the beautiful beach of Lamai which is also in the city center close to restaurants and mini markets. The restaurant and daily breakfast were satisfactory and generous as well. The only downside was the excessive number of mosquitos in the resort, my daughter got so many bites that she looked horrible after one week. Also, the last day we need to leave early and the hotel manager arranged a breakfast that was really meager for the price payed. Other than these problems the place is fantastic and recommended.

Excellent Resort on the Beach!”
I stayed several times at the Lamai Wanta Beach Resort about 5 years ago.. The stays were enjoyable as the Lamai Wanta Resort is located near smack dab in the middle of Lamai Beach, which offers a quiet atmosphere as opposed to Chaweng Beach. The Lamai Wanta Resort has not lost it's appeal. It is still a terrific boutique like property, well kept with a friendly staff. Very good value!

a little piece of paradise”
i have stayed the the lamia wanta six times and always enjoy the calm quiet comfort of this hotel each visit.the staff are friendly and efficient, the room is always clean and the pool area and restaurant are beautifully located. looking onto lamai beach.the menu at the coast cafe is extensive yet simply and the perfect place to dine after long relaxing day around the infinity pool.we have stayed at other resorts but always seem to prefer the simplicity of the lamai wanta and it's location to lamai shopping areas and restaurants. the rooms are practically yet stylishly decorated with dark wood furnishings and white linen.the addition of a dvd player and room safe is useful and the large spacious shower is great .

Oasis in Lamai”
asked for the hotel to organize pickup from the airport for me. well worth it at , staff was waiting to pick me up. would advise all travelers to do this. on arrival, check in was quick and easy. on entering my room i was concerned that it was slightly dark. i like sunshine as i am used to plenty of it when i am at home. asked the hotel if they had any bungalows available. luckily for me one had just became free. paid an extra per day for the upgrade. well worth it, i would advise anybody with the budget to book bungalow at this resort. i had a garden bungalow and it was nice and private. gardens are well kept and very, very quiet. incidentally they have a security guy sitting outside in the gardens at night. pool area is very nice, some said old in previous reviews, i can see why. i did not however bother me, nice pool with a view. right on the beach, you cannot go wrong. staff at the resort are very friendly and willing to serve. did not meet anybody who could not be bothered. cleaning ladies were very friendly and would clean get the room cleaned right away. to cut a long story short, i had enough of lamai. i used to like it, however it's on the way to becoming a smaller chaweng. i cut my stay in half and canceled, the receptionist ironed everything out with agoda and i got my refund. would i stay there again? "yes" but if it were not in lamai! great resort, great service, great experience in general. if lamai is your thing then go for it!

May-June trip”
Great resort, awesome beach and pool. Just the pool tiles need regrouting and fix some broken tiles. The resort is fantastic for massage, shopping, and great food choices within 5 minutes walk. The staff are happy to see you and accomodate any requests. The breakfast menu is the same each day but a reasonable choice. We will be back every year now and my husband and I have really relaxed and loved our time at Lamai Wanta Beach Resort. Ka

Nice Hotel with great location and beachfront”
lamai wanta was surprisingly busy for low season we were there. the rooms are nice but the bathrooms are uncomfortably hot and humid. the included safe was a welcome sight. the room's sliding front doors can be a bit of a pain for privacy since the curtains don't close fully in the middle. hard for ground floor rooms like ours. we had a strange mosquito problem. either they were being sucked into the room from the a/c or there was a place in the bathroom they were coming in from, we were constantly bugged by a single lone mosquito, one after another, as we killed them. you can rent scooters at the hotel or across the street. laundry was 30 baht/kilo close by. you can walk around the lamai area pretty easily (i recommend you find restaurant called sri nuan for great thai food). wifi requires you to log in every time. that's a pita but at least it's relatively fast and accessible all over the resort including the pool area. the pool itself was nice and clean and a great alternative to the salty turbulant sea. find the lady who grills satay skewers by the fruit shake stand. they're really really tasty and she runs out quickly. the breakfast at the resort has a good selection including a self serve toast/yogurt/cereal/fruit area. the lounge area is also great.

A very nice place to stay”
Lamai Wanta is only 2 minutes from the center of Lamai (located on the island of Ko Samui, in the province of Surat Thani), close to restaurants, shops etc., yet very quiet and relaxed. Rooms are very clean, the restaurant & pool area is very nice (suitable for people travelling with small children). The beach is beautiful, v. good for swimming. There is also a DVD-library.

AMAZING!!!”
i live in Thailand and traveled a lot this is definitely one of the top hotels i stayed in if not the best. The staff is unbelievable nice and helpful,Sayan the manager is a tremendous guy that make u feel so welcome. He upgraded our room and make sure we will be satisfied during our stay. the room was big and well equipped. the hotel garden is so beautiful and the swimming pool is fascinating there are a lot of shades, beds and a great restaurant close to the pool. the view is breathtaking. the beach is only 50-60 meters away from the swimming pool. due to corona the breakfast buffet wasn't operating so we got a set menu with few options and restaurant staff always asked if we like to get more food. when we ate lunch at the restaurant and they gave as free fruit right after the meal. i cant wait for the next time to return to lamai wanta. thanks a lot.

Simple but Effective”
Lamai Wanta was a nice, clean, simple hotel that provided a great stay for us. the rooms are set out along a couple of wings opposite each other. the rooms weren't huge, but had enough room for 2 big bags and 2 beds, plus a generous sized bathroom. Both the rooms and bathroom were clean. The pool was nothing special special, but the beach out the front is great so we didn't really bother swimming in the pool. The restaurant was great both for breakfast and dinner. Overall, would stay at Lamai Wanta again and could recommend to others.

A fantastic location right on the beach with a dream pool!”
We had a room on the first floor which was very nice, clean and spacious. The resort is right on the beach and central in Lamai but very quiet. The swimming pool is just a dream, you can swim and see the sea! Very good breakfast, outstanding staff and there is also a person doing the night watch outside in the garden. I have stayed in several hotels in Lamai and Chaweng over the years and the Wanta is certainly one of my preferred choice.

Relaxing holiday”
We spent six days at lamai Wanta and found it very enjoyable, we stayed in a beach front villa, the room was spacious, very clean and in the best position with views accross the pool and out to the beach. The breakfast and service was excellent, breakfast being served until 12 midday. We looked as several other resorts but decided we had the best spot would definately go back.

Best place on Lamai Beach”
It is hard to fault Lamai Wanta. It is quiet, clean with direct beach access, including a giant tree to sit in shade, and on the beach massage stall, staff are very pleasant and responsive. That said, Lamai town itself is not exactly classy. Best part of Lamai is the beach itself. Many nice restaurants on the beach and could literally sit there all day and night with a book.

Returning after 6 years”
Last came to Lamai wanta 2012, due to booking error were given an up grade to Deluxe bungalow, which we were very impressed with. So this year we made a booking for this type of accommodation again. After 6 years the bungalow and resort are showing a little wear and tear but only slightly. Location is superb on the beach and this year had a protected swimming area in the sea directly opposite lamai wanta. We also booked breakfast, a decent varied buffet. The pool is showing more wear and tear than anything else but still quite functional. Staff were polite and reserved. We will consider booking again. T
